  1. Superchargers 33-2published at 25 balls

Annabel Sutherland is the next Australia international to stride out for the Superchargers - and she gets off the mark with a glorious drive as well.

Middled through the covers for four.

Powerplay done and while Superchargers have got a decent total on the board, those two wickets mean it is probably Fire who are just about the happier of the sides.

I cannot believe what I have just seen. It was there to be driven and went straight to Tammy Beaumont.

A huge blow for the Superchargers.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 23 balls

    Litchfield c Beaumont b Ismail 4 (Superchargers 29-2)

    A gift for Welsh Fire!

Short and wide from Shabnim Ismail and Phoebe Litchfield goes after it - but hits it straight into the hands of Tammy Beaumont at backward point.

More of a traditional commentator's curse from Alex this time...

Welcome back Phoebe Litchfield. Freya Davies got her length slightly wrong and it was crunched for four.

If there is anyone to get excited about watching, it is Phoebe Litchfield.

  5. Superchargers 28-1published at 20 balls

Australia left-hander Phoebe Litchfield is the new batter and she's off the mark with a boundary.

Crisp drive through the covers and no chance for the fielder in the deep.

Well bowled by Freya Davies. That was the right decision not to review it by Alice Davidson-Richards, it would have to be doing a lot to be missing.

Looking down the batting line-up, that was the right thing to do.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19 balls

    Davidson-Richards lbw b Davies 14 (Superchargers 24-1)

It's the lesser known text commentator's curse!

Having talked her up after back-to-back boundaries, Alice Davison-Richards is trapped in front by a nip-backer from Freya Davies.

Very nicely bowled and ADR was caught on the crease. After a chat with Davina Perrin, she opts not to review - probably a good shout, it looked plumb.

Alice Davidson-Richards is proving her place in the team here. She is using her feet and coming down the pitch, using her levers to swing for four.

You have to make the most of the powerplay as a batter.

  9. Superchargers 24-0published at 18 balls

    Perrin 5, Davison-Richards 14

Nicely struck again by Alice Davidson-Richards!

Full ball from Freya Davies and she hits confidently up and over mid-off for a boundary.

Four more! Over mid-on this time with even better timing.

    Positive start from ADR.

Shabnim Ismail's average speed of 71.5mph in her opening set is the quickest for any set in the women's competition so far this year.

  11. Superchargers 16-0published at 15 balls

An early look at spin as Jess Jonassen comes into the attack.

The Australia left-armer is giving the ball plenty of flight early on, encouraging the big shots and Alice Davidson-Richards is happy to take it on.

A little shimmy down the track and then a thumping drive to the left of the mid-off fielder. Four runs.

Sarah Bryce has got such high standards of herself. She will have expected herself to stop that and will be annoyed.

  13. Superchargers 10-0published at 10 balls

A good five from Freya Davies is ruined slightly by a leg-side delivery that flicks off Davina Perrin's thigh pad and away for four leg byes.

Sarah Bryce behind the stumps looks a little disappointed not to stop that after getting a glove to it.

  14. Superchargers 5-0published at 5 balls

Good set to start from Shabnim Ismail, that edge for four and a leg bye are the only runs from it.

Decent pace and there was some swing on offer for the seamer as well.

Shabnim Ismail is someone that you don't want to annoy. She rolls her eyes as that first ball goes for four.

  16. Superchargers 4-0published at 1 ball

Quick, swinging delivery to start from Shabnim Ismail.

The South African finds the edge but Davina Perrin gets some early luck as the ball goes wide of slip and away for four.

    It's game time!

Welsh Fire are the first to come running out with fireworks and pyrotechnics going off either side of them.

They're followed soon after by Northern Superchargers openers Alice Davidson-Richards and Davina Perrin.

  19. Out for a duckpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 7 August

It's the return of 'Out for a duck' as Harry Brook takes on Brydon Carse in a game of bluff.

Which of the Northern Superchargers duo will come out on top this time?

Fire have been on the up since the opening years of the women's competition when they finished one from bottom in 2021 and then propped up the table in 2022.

They were third in 2023 when their eliminator was washed out and then topped the table on run-rate last year only to lose to London Spirit in the final at Lord's.

"It was an outstanding campaign," said captain Tammy Beaumont. "This year there are some really tough teams - on paper anyone can beat anyone - but I hope that the togetherness that we have had for the last few years really shines through again.

"That's been our X-factor that has driven us on and spurred us on to win some tight games."
