It all feels a bit dead out there for England and it's comfortable for India who are going at a good rate.

  3. Ind 382-5published at 102 overs

Curiously, Shubman Gill backs away and swats away a short ball from Brydon Carse which suggests England have affected his mindset a little.

The pitch has not looked that responsive to the bumper barrage so Carse is having to work hard to extract any bounce he is finding.

A lot of questions of young Gill and his captaincy in recent weeks but there's no doubt he's leading by example in first innings batting this series. Feels like he is double century bound today!

  6. Ind 377-5published at 101 overs

It feels like India have learned their lessons from the first Test with the manner in which they have approached day two so far.

You feel India have set their stall out to bat for the vast majority of this day.

You felt with their line-up that they'd be happy with a draw because they didn't prioritise their wicket-taking bowlers, such as Jasprit Bumrah.

  8. 150 runs

Gill passes 150published at 100.1 overs

Shubman Gill beats the dive of Shoaib Bashir, who cannot prevent a single off his own bowling into the on side. Gill passes 150 for the first time in his Test career. It's come off 263 balls.

Shubman Gill looks so determined. At no point in the last day and a half have I thought he's looked rushed.

He's happy to get these runs and apply score board pressure.

  11. Ind 375-5published at 100 overs

England persist with the short-ball ploy to Ravdrina Jadeja.

Brydon Carse cannot quite execute with the first ball of the over and the ball sits up to Jadeja and says 'hit me' and the India left-hander duly pulls it to the fence for four.

Three balls later Shubman Gill moves to his career-best score - 148* - with a lovely backfoot drive for four.

Has Bazball become boring? Flat tracks where we chase down 400 on the last day. Yawn.

India should be able to bat another 40-odd overs with their wickets left and that’ll take them to 500.

  14. Ind 365-5published at 99 overs

Shoaib Bashir with the first over after drinks. He tosses one up to Shubman Gill with his third delivery, but the India skipper does not bite and watches the ball grip and turn but comfortably miss the stumps.

Gill's defence looks solid as he sees out a maiden.

Morning, if you could pick a team of English style Bazballers all at their peak, from 2005 all the way through to now, what would your line-up look like for Oz? I'd go Tres, Duckett, Root (out of place but...), KP, Brook, Stokes, Flintoff, Prior, Swann, S Jones, Harmy. Aggressive batting, quick bowling.

The first hour belongs to the tourists.

A few little glimmers of hope for England, but in all honesty it's been relatively comfortable for India.

This could be a long day.

England are chasing their tails somewhat at the moment.

  19. Ind 365-5published at 98 overs

A change of tac from Ben Stokes. He scatters the field to Ravindra Jadeja and encourages Brydon Carse to bang it in short.

At the first time of asking Jadeja takes on the pull shot and controls it down to square leg.

That could have gone anywhere from Ravindra Jadeja off Shoaib Bashir. It's the first sign that Jadeja is a bit itchy to get going.
