Harry Brook clears his front leg and goes over where mid-off would be. That is just white ball T20 cricket.

  2. 6 runs

    Eng 50-3published at 11.3 overs

Harry Brook continues to think attack here.

He dances down the pitch to Mohammed Siraj and goes inside out to launch him over the boundary rope wide of long-off.

    Some shot, given the circumstances.

Argh I see it now; Bumrah was the problem.

  4. Eng 43-3published at 11 overs

Akash Deep surrenders four leg-byes in the first over after drinks, while Joe Root and Harry Brook run well between the wickets to turn over the strike.

In case you missed them, here's the three wickets to fall so far in in England's innings. India have bowled well, but there's some tired shots in there as well.

Mohammed Siraj and Harry Brook are two big characters within their teams and both will want to win this battle; emphasised by Brook's skittish start to his innings. This is only the second Test innings they have locked horns, with Siraj never before getting the Yorkshireman out and Brook scoring 43 at more than a run a ball against the India pacer. Who will blink first...

It's almost like England are going on the counter-attack and trying to go back at the bowler but at this moment it feels like Harry Brook could get out any minute.

  7. drinks break

England 33-3 at drinkspublished at 10 overs

An engrossing hour of cricket, albeit not what England fans were hoping for.

I think the lack of timing on that shot shows where Harry Brook is at in the middle It's just trickled to the boundary.

  9. Eng 33-3published at 10 overs

A bit of a counter-attack from Harry Brook who backs away to leg a touch and biffs Mohammed Siraj's third ball through mid-off for four. It was not the cleanest of strikes but it brings Brook his first boundary.

Looks like my wish for Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett to score freely has gone down the pan so quickly. Hopefully Joe Root and Harry Brook can last the evening session and come back tomorrow and put on a partnership like they did against Pakistan during the winter. An ever hopeful.

There was a lot of talk of England getting umpire's calls not go their way yesterday and now India have one. It's the correct decision.

  12. Brook survivespublished at 9.1 overs

    Closer than it looked.

Angled in from Mohammed Siraj, Harry Brook was caught deep in the crease but with the ball deemed to have been clipping the bail of leg stump the original decision of not out stands.

One thing I know is, Siraj loves a review.

  15. India reviewpublished at 9.1 overs

Review for lbw after Harry Brook attempts to defend a straight one from Mohammed Siraj.

Shubman Gill decides to take it upstairs.

  16. Eng 27-3published at 9 overs

Harry Brook with another iffy shot to a wide-ish slower ball from Akash Deep. Brook fails to move his feet and just waggles his bat at it. Absolutely no need to play at that delivery.

England's brains are a bit frazzled after the best part of two days chasing leather in the sunshine.

A penny for Chris Woakes’ thoughts. He would have had India for very similar figures! Small margins.

A couple of replays of Zak Crawley's dismissal.

If you could draw a Venn diagram of all the characteristics of a classic Crawley dismissal, I think you would be bang in the middle.

Mohammed Siraj gets plenty of pats on his back at the end of the over.

Okay this is embarrassing. The follow on is inevitable and truly we should now play our hearts out for the draw. This "we would rather die on our sword than draw" approach sounds gutsy, but opens you up for total embarrassment.

Oh no! Another poor shot from Brook. He's very lucky not to get an edge.
