That's a not a drop, it's a brilliant piece of fielding. The ball was so, so low.

    Target 483

    Oooh!

Dinesh Chandimal sweeps, gets hold of it but the ball just lands safely in front of Olly Stone at backward square. He's definitely saved a boundary there.

But there's no saving the next, as Bashir drops too short and Chandimal crunches through the covers for four.

  3. SL 187-5published at 64 overs

England's first-innings centurion Gus Atkinson comes into the attack, giving Chris Woakes a breather after a lively six-over stint.

Atkinson opts for a shorter length than Woakes, which is safely negotiated by De Silva and Chandimal, with four singles worked from the over.

  4. SL 183-5published at 63 overs

    Target 483

Shoaib Bashir rattles through another good over with just one from it, he's now nicely settled into his spell.

Chandimal and De Silva are also just finding their rhythm in the middle as a new partnership develops.

Woakes did play a part in Angelo Mathews' dismissal a few overs ago, taking the catch at mid-off after several overs of the spinner testing Mathews' patience.

  6. SL 182-5published at 62 overs

    Target 483

Chris Woakes is still seething about that lbw being overturned, by the way.

He's caught saying, "He did not hit that!" by the TV cameras.

He responds with a maiden, at least.

  7. SL 182-5published at 61 overs

    Target 483

It doesn't look like Dhananjaya de Silva is going to hang around, either.

He clubs one down the ground for four to get off the mark before trying again, but picking out mid-on, which delights England's fielders and Shoaib Bashir.

Sri Lanka basically need to take the target out of the equation and just bat. And bat some more.

Dinesh Chandimal has fifty to his name, can he get himself on the Lord's honours board? Even if they lose the Test, they could do with a few milestones to celebrate.

That is one of the smallest scratches I have ever seen on Ultra-edge.

  10. Not outpublished at 60 overs

    SL 178-5

The faintest of inside edges saves Dinesh Chandimal! It was a whisker!

Ollie Pope and Chris Woakes are in complete disbelief.

We don't get to see the ball-tracking but I suspect the impact was also outside the line of off stump.

Dinesh Chandimal reviewed it pretty quickly, does that mean he has hit it? It didn't look like it.

  12. SL reviewpublished at 60 overs

    On cue!

Chandimal is given lbw, but is he outside the line? He goes for the review.

  13. SL 178-5published at 59.2 overs

Dinesh Chandimal is going to keep playing his shots and that's the best way to be. England won't mind it, as it'll bring chances, but from Sri Lanka's point of view there's also no point just hanging in there until one eventually has your name on it.

He drives Chris Woakes through the covers for four.

    One.

Actually no, that is a bit harsh. Seven.

What percentage chance would you give Sri Lanka of winning this game, Tuffers?

  16. SL 174-5published at 59 overs

    Target 483

A wicket maiden for Shoaib Bashir as Sri Lanka skipper Dhananjaya de Silva solidly defends his first ball.

Shoaib Bashir has come in for a bit of stick but has worked Angelo Mathews out a bit there. It was the angle that did it. Mathews went for the big hit but didn't quite nail it.

Where did that shot come from?

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 58.5 overs

    Mathews c Woakes b Bashir 36 (SL 174-5)

    Angelo Mathews takes the bait!

Brilliant set-up by Shoaib Bashir, floating it up and keeping the fielders in the ring to tempt Mathews into the big shot.

He can only resist so long before clubbing it to Chris Woakes, perfectly stationed at mid-off. Reward for Bashir, who has stuck at his task despite conceding a few runs.

The shots to get to fifty were quite fortunate, but generally, he has played beautifully.
