It's quite unusual for a batter to go upstairs straight away unless they've got something on it.

It's a dangerous ploy to be sweeping on that line as a left-hander.

    WI 41-2

    Good review from Kyle Mayers.

He got a little under-edge on that and the decision is overturned.

  4. West Indies reviewpublished at 5.5 overs

Big sweep from Kyle Mayers, he misses and it is hit right in front of middle.

The umpire's finger goes up but Mayers reviews immediately. If he's not hit this, he's gone.

  5. Mayers dropped on 12published at 5.2 overs

To say West Indies are living life on the edge is something of an understatement.

Kyle Mayers gets a life now as he flicks Aiden Markram to square leg and Keshav Maharaj grasses the chance.

The shot had just enough on it to take Miller with it over the boundary rope!

  7. WI 39-2published at 5 overs

Six... but it was so nearly a third wicket!

Roston Chase watches this one nervously as it goes up following his slog-sweep.

David Miller is out there, he dives and gets his hands to it but the breeze carried the ball far enough that he'd have gone over the rope with it had he held on.

  8. WI 32-2published at 4.1 overs

    Runs. Four of them.

Keshav Maharaj into the attack and Kyle Mayers elegantly strokes his first ball through point off the back foot.

    Nice shot.

Mayers isn't looking convincing with the ball turning away from him. His feet are getting in a muddle.

  10. WI 28-2published at 4 overs

Aiden Markram gets through another over, no wicket this time but sneaking in another without too much damage is very helpful for South Africa.

A couple more wides mean six come from it but both Kyle Mayers and Roston Chase have played some less than convincing shots so far.

  11. WI 22-2published at 3 overs

As is seemingly inevitable, the ball after a drop brings a boundary.

It's not Roston Chase but Kyle Mayers, who top-edges a hook shot straight over the head of wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.

A lively start to say the least!

It's the kind of catch any professional should be taking!

Goodness me, what a let-off for Roston Chase!

A horrible shot really, trying to smash the ball back over Marco Jansen's head when it really wasn't on.

He skies it, Anrich Nortje gets underneath it at mid-on but then shells the catch.

    How costly could that be?

    Guided through point for four!

Roston Chase opens the face of the bat and earns himself another boundary.

  15. WI 10-2published at 2 overs

Just like the first over, the second brings five runs and a wicket.

Aiden Markram's decision to bowl himself paid off and South Africa will be delighted with their start.

  16. WI 9-2published at 1.2 overs

Roston Chase comes in and smokes his first ball between mid-off and extra cover for four.

    Shot!

Very poor shot. I think the West Indies are panicking, I'm not sure why - there's no need, you've just lost a wicket. Nicholas Pooran is in great form, but that's just a giveaway.

West Indies in trouble early on!

With two left-handers at the crease, Aiden Markram brings himself on and gets rid of the dangerous Nicholas Pooran with his first ball.

Pooran went after him immediately but there was no timing as he tried to clear long-off.

Marco Jansen is there waiting and takes a straightforward catch.

Another wide. Umpire Rod Tucker is getting his stretches in today, I wonder if he's done his Pilates...

  20. WI 5-1published at 1 over

Marco Jansen helps West Indies out with three wides in the over but, having removed Shai Hope, it's still an excellent over.
