    Surrey 512 v Yorkshire 255 & 31-2

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Cracking delivery from Jordan Clark again.

Nicely taken by Kurtis Patterson, he made it look pretty straightforward.

    He'll be delighted there.

Somerset bowler Matt Henry celebrates getting out Sussex's Fynn Hudson-PrenticeImage source, Getty Images

Six and out for Fynn Hudson-Prentice. He smashes Matt Henry for a maximum but Henry comes back with the perfect response with the very next ball.

It's an absolute corker from Henry as he beats the bat and clatters into the off stump, tearing it out the ground.

Hudson-Prentice makes a decent 41 in a 78-run partnership with John Simpson but Sussex are now down to their final two wickets with the lead still less than 100.

  3. First batting point for Derbyshirepublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 253-8

Zak Chappell cracks Tom Bailey to the rope with the new ball.

Ben Aitchison then ducks under a George Balderson bouncer and it hoops away from wicketkeeper Matty Hurst for four byes.

That brings up 250 for Derbyshire in the 85th over.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lyth c Patterson b Clark 16 (Surrey 512 v Yorkshire 255 & 31-2 - trail by 230 runs)

Surrey have the big, big wicket of Adam Lyth!

Brilliant bowling from round the wicket by Jordan Clark to the left-hander Lyth.

Clark lures Lyth to play at it outside off and finds the edge. It flies to Kurtis Patterson at slip and he takes a good catch.

Division One's second top run scorer is gone for just 16.

  5. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 512 v Yorkshire 255 & 31-1 - trail by 226 runs

Now James Wharton opens things up a bit for Yorkshire... a lovely on drive off Tom Lawes flies to the rope for his first boundary.

  6. Roderick eyeing recordpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 18 May

    Worcs 358 & 134 v Essex 157 & 41-3

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Could Worcestershire wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick be on for a record here?

He picked up five catches in the first innings and has caught the first two wickets here.

Nine in a match is the Worcestershire record.

    Watch this space!

  7. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 512 v Yorkshire 255 & 27-1 - trail by 230 runs

Yorkshire are going along at about two runs an over and you can understand them not wanting to take any unnecessary risks.

They're going to need to bat long and hard to get a result in this match.

James Wharton has one from his first 13 balls. Opener Adam Lyth is unbeaten on 16 from 33.

  8. ouch!

Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 18 May

    Warwicks 110-3 - target 310

Brad Wheal gets one through and smacks Alex Davies on the inner thigh.

That's going to sting, but the pain will be eased as the appeal for leg before is turned down.

Beau Webster then opens the face and drives James Fuller through point for four to move to 12.

A single brings the runs required down to 200.

  9. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 265-7 f/o - lead by 79 runs

Fynn Hudson-Prentice strokes one beautifully away to the leg side boundary off Matt Henry to move onto 35.

Sussex are going along nicely at the moment and for the first time today, it's been quite a while since Somerset took a wicket.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 18 May

    Westley lbw Singh 4 (Worcs 358 & 134 v Essex 157 & 41-3)

    That's plumb.

Pears bowler Yadvinder Singh gives the ball a little more air and Essex captain Tom Westley plays and misses with the ball striking his back leg right in front of the stumps.

After making a steady start Essex have lost three wickets in four overs and are now very much up against it.

  11. 'It needs a bit of magic from Somerset'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 261-7 f/o

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

It's at that stage where the game is just meandering.

It needs a bit of magic from Somerset.

If they had not enforced the follow-on, Sussex would just be batting it out but it's harder than that.

Somerset have done more than enough

  12. Durham lead by 100 runspublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 18 May

    Durham 507-5 v Notts 407

A late cut from Graham Clark off Mohammad Abbas beats two Notts fielders and races to the third man boundary.

And that extends the Durham's first innings lead to three figures.

  13. 100 runs

100 up for Warwickshirepublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 18 May

    Warwicks 100-3 - target 310

An Alex Davies pull brings one more and takes the Bears to a milestone in their chase.

The hundred comes up in the 27th over and brings the target within 210 runs.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 18 May

    Allison c Roderick b Waite 23 (Worcs 358 & 134 v Essex 157 & 35-2)

Charlie Allison had looked in good nick but he's come forward to defend Matthew Waite's delivery from the Diglis End and edged it behind to give Gareth Roderick another catch - his seventh of the contest.

At least he wasn't dismissed by his brother like he was in the first innings!

The Pears took a while to grab the first wicket but they've got a couple of quick ones now and that hefty lead of 299 is looking pretty big.

  15. 50 runs

50 for John Simpsonpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 258-7 f/o - lead by 72 runs

Sussex captain John Simpson tries to pull away Matt Henry and gets a top edge... but he gets a bit of luck as it rolls away harmlessly past fine leg for four.

And that takes Simpson to his second half-century of the season.

He's already made two centuries this season. How he'd love to go on to make another for his side today.

  16. 500 up for Durhampublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 18 May

    Durham 502-5 v Notts 407

The question is how big a lead do Durham want?

A Graham Clark single brings up the 500 for the home side as the lead approaches three figures.

They have four-and-a-half sessions to manufacture a result.

Another single from Ollie Robinson then brings up the 100 partnership off just 122 balls.

  17. Postpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 18 May

    Worcs 358 & 134 v Essex 157 & 35-1

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Essex have been set 336 to win and though Charlie Allison has made a positive start they have lost the big wicket of Dean Elgar and it is a well deserved reward for Ben Allison who has bowled beautifully from the Diglis End.

Elgar edged just short of slip but the very next ball he nicks to keeper Gareth Roderick.

  18. 100 runs

100 up for Middlesexpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 18 May

    Middlesex 232 & 100-6 - lead by 58 runs v Leics 274

It's not been pretty from Middlesex in this second innings but they've reached 100 as number eight Zafar Gohar finds the fence off Josh Hull.

  19. 'Not what Yorkshire needed'published at 14:25 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 512 v Yorkshire 255 & 19-1

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Nathan Smith hit the right length to Bean.

An outside edge and he's caught.

    Not what Yorkshire needed.

  20. Century for Robinsonpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 18 May

Durham 498-5 - lead Notts by 91 runs

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Ollie Robinson has joined Emiiio Gay in reaching 100 in this game. It's his 10th in First Class cricket. And the efforts of him and Gay have cancelled out Haseeb Hameed's double hundred for Notts on day one.

Robinson last made a century in the heat of Chelmsford last June. He also scored 171*, this week last year, at Blackpool.

But the knock at Essex was the start of a long run of low scores - until he made 76 at Hampshire two weeks ago. Prior to that he'd amassed just 201 runs in 16 championship innings, as the early season form of 2024 deserted him.

It's good to see him scoring well again though, although he was dropped earlier today on 35 by Joe Clarke, at first slip, off the bowling of Mohhamad Abbas.

However, this is a road of a track and there's nothing in it for the bowlers at all. Even if Durham build a big enough lead to allow them to declare, it is going to be very difficult to take 10 Notts wickets in the time left in the game.
