  1. Goodbye everyonepublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 6 May

Thanks for your company over the last four days.

We've had a little bit of everything in round five - four innings in two days at Taunton, a tense fourth-morning run chase at Old Trafford in Division One.

A massive Sussex win and a big century and wickets from Joe Root at Headingley in Division Two.

And, of course, plenty of rain at Lord's. It wouldn't be the 2024 season without a deluge or three.

And round six is just around the corner. So see you on Friday!

  2. Division Two - Sussex rise to the toppublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 6 May

Sussex pulled out the only win of round five in Division Two and in emphatic fashion.

Their crushing innings defeat of Derbyshire gives them a little daylight at the top with a game in hand.

They pulled six points clear of Middlesex and Leicestershire, in second and third respectively, who played out a draw after two days were washed out at Lord's.

And Yorkshire move above Northants in to fourth, a further eight points back after being held to a draw at home to Glamorgan who move off the bottom and up to sixth.

Winless Gloucestershire now prop up the table, nine points adrift of Derbyshire.

  3. Division One - Somerset make a movepublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 6 May

The main movers and shakers in Division One after round five were Somerset who climbed up above Surrey into second place with that thrilling win over new leaders Essex on day two.

Essex started round five level on points with Surrey and had the chance to pull out a lead.

But their first defeat of the season leaves them just a point above Somerset and three above Surrey who now have a game in hand.

Kent also shot up the table from ninth up to sixth after notching their first win of the season at Old Trafford this morning.

They're now just nine points adrift of fourth-placed Warwickshire, while Lancashire remain rooted to the bottom and four points behind second-bottom Hampshire.

  5. 'Match abandoned'published at 17:07 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

    Jonathan Doidge

The match has sadly been abandoned so no further play, match off and will end in a draw.

Yorkshire get 16 points - the most they could from that situation.

    And Glamorgan 10.

Yorkshire will live to fight again with a trip to Sussex in a couple of weeks time and Glamorgan will be at home before that against Sussex on Friday.

  6. YORKSHIRE DRAW WITH GLAMORGANpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 6 May
    Breaking

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

As we feared, the dubious weather has taken too much time out of this game to force a result.

Yorkshire were bossing this game with a gargantuan first innings and raised White Rose hopes with two wickets apiece for part time spinners Joe Root and Adam Lyth this afternoon while seamer Matt Fisher was off injured.

But Sam Northeast held firm on an unbeaten 142, spanning over six hours.

Yorkshire take eight points for the draw, plus maximum bonus points for both batting and bowling to end the round up 16 points on 60.

They're in fourth place going into the next round.

Glamorgan take 10 points and are sixth in the table ahead of Derbyshire and Gloucestershire on 44.

  7. Back soonpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 6 May

With thunder and bad light keeping the players off in our final match at Headingley, we're going to pause until the action resumes.

Or they call it a day.

See you soon, fingers crossed, with more cricket!

  8. 'There is no more lightning but still a few rumbles of thunder'published at 16:50 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

We've only got until 6pm until play here and when they came off there was some suggestion that it'll be half-an-hour so before they come back on.

There is no more lightning and there hasn't been for a few minutes but there is still a few rumbles of thunder around.

  9. 'The floodlights are on but there ain't no-one at home'published at 16:49 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Not a bit of cricket out there at the moment I'm afraid.

There's some threat of some weather later in the day people have been talking about and we can hear some rumbles of thunder and there were a couple of flashes of lightening.

It's mandatory now that the umpires need to take the players off the field when that is the case.

The floodlights are on but there ain't no-one at home at this moment in time.

  10. 'This is time that we are losing not necessarily overs'published at 16:40 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

This is time that we are losing, not necessarily overs because 18 overs remain in the match on the board.

Yorkshire will look to push on if at all possible.

I think that this is only going to be a temporary departure but a few are making their way home from the eastern side of the ground.

They think that, maybe, this frustration will end Yorkshire hopes.

  11. 'There's no sign of the covers being brought on'published at 16:37 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Interestingly there's no sign of the covers being brought on at the moment.

So the umpires and groundstaff are obviously believing that there's not a risk of a deluge anytime soon.

  12. Play delayed at Headingleypublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

Strictly speaking, we're off for thunder and lightning in the local area rather than rain.

The ground is shrouded in dark cloud, but the floodlights are in full force and should be enough to allow for spin, which is most likely Yorkshire's preferred option anyway with Matthew Fisher nursing an injured ankle.

  13. 'Frustration for Yorkshire'published at 16:32 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Frustration for Yorkshire with Glamorgan seven down and Glamorgan given a temporary reprieve.

But I think that if we do get back on in the next half-hour or so, Yorkshire will want to continue to try and take any possibility of winning this match.

  14. Round Six fixturespublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 6 May

Another slightly truncated round gets under way on Friday as the County Championship juggernaut rumbles on at a terrific speed.

There's four top-flight fixtures, including round four leaders Surrey's return to action, and two in Division Two.

    Division One:

    Southampton: Hampshire v Durham

    Canterbury: Kent v Worcestershire

    Trent Bridge: Nottinghamshire v Lancashire

    Kia Oval: Surrey v Warwickshire

    Division Two:

    Cardiff: Glamorgan v Sussex

    Northampton: Northamptonshire v Gloucestershire

  15. What's coming uppublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 6 May

While we're waiting for news of a restart at Headingley, let's take a look at what's coming up in the Championship.

There's three more rounds before it takes a break for the T20 Blast to have its turn.

  16. 'That could be a spanner in the Yorkshire works'published at 16:26 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

That could be a spanner in the Yorkshire works.

If there is lightning in the vicinity this is not going to be popular with the Yorkshire crowd but the batters are marching off, they know the laws.

The umpires are obliged to bring the players off the field for safety reasons and that will take a few more overs out of the game until such time they are satisfied it's safe again.

Yorkshire look disconsolate, they're not in any hurry to run away from the lightning.

  17. Bad light stops play at Headingleypublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

Now the umpires are taking a light meter reading...

A distant flash of lightning and we're coming off.

The covers are staying off so we might not be off for too long.

But it's eating into valuable time for Yorkshire.

  18. 'I'm not sure how that was given'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 370-7 - lead by 71

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

    James Harris cannot believe that.

He looked to get a good stride in there and the umpire has given him out lbw.

And for the second time in the match James Harris marches off.

I'm sure he's seething privately for that as Adam Lyth claims a second wicket.

I'm not sure how that was given.

There's all sorts of questions there. It looked as though it spun a long way, Harris got forward and...

I'm almost lost for words but I was very surprised by that decision.

So James Harris has gone and Yorkshire are very much back in it.

  19. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 372-7 - lead by 74

Two wickets for Adam Lyth and Two for Joe Root today.

The pressure is piled on to Sam Northeast batting with the tail as he goes forward to block Dom Bess.

Single second ball worked around the corner.

Mason Crane is back trying to work the ball to leg. He gets one off the fourth ball.

Two runs off the over as the floodlights are in full force over the field.

  20. wicket

WICKET Harris LBW b Lyth 3published at 16:11 British Summer Time 6 May

    Yorks 519-7 dec v Glam 221 & 370-7 - lead by 72

Single to Northeast, driving Adam Lyth to extra cover.

Appeal for leg before against James Harris...given!

Harris is well forward blocking and hit on the knee roll by a ball turning quite sharply, possibly just on the line of off stump.

Mason Crane is in at nine for Glamorgan.

Yorkshire need three more to set up a frantic run chase.
