  1. Aus 54-2published at 7.1 overs

A change of bowling from Jos Buttler as Brydon Carse is summoned by the England skipper.

Marnus Labuschagne picks up an early boundary off the Durham quick after he overpitches his first ball.

How long until Buttler turns to spin, I wonder?

That's a trademark hit of Matt Short. He stands nice and still, not a huge use of footwork.

  3. Aus 50-2published at 7 overs

Clever batting from Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Short as they take to working Mark Wood into the gaps before waiting for something more hittable.

Wood drops in a shorter one with his fifth ball and Short - just as he did against Jofra Archer - swats it to the fence for four.

Adil Rashid, the older you are, the harder it is to get down. Good effort from him.

  6. Aus 43-2published at 6 overs

Matthew Short uses his height to good effect again, swatting away Jofra Archer with a pull through mid-wicket for four.

An Adil Rashid fumble on the boundary earlier in the over means it's a profitable one for the Aussies with 12 runs taken from it.

The crowd here is great, by the way. It's pretty much full. They're ooohing and ahhhing after every delivery.

    Lovely to see.

  8. Aus 35-2published at 5.2 overs

Matthew Short has relished the extra pace on the ball thus far.

He's a tall man and crunches Jofra Archer through the covers for four.

The upside of having two bowlers like Mark Wood and Jofra Archer is that you can use them in the powerplay and blow the other team away.

  10. Aus 31-2published at 5 overs

Marnus Labuschagne begins with a boundary with a guide down to third.

Penultimate ball of the over and Labuschagne puts a lot of faith in the pitch with a leave and breathes a sight of relief when it jags in and just misses his off stump.

All six deliveries over 90mph from Wood in that over. He's cranking up the speed-o-meter in Lahore.

We are going to bamboozle the Aussies with our right-arm quick, right-arm really quick and right-arm quicker than you think variations.

That was an ambitious shot to play first ball against Mark Wood, who's bowling 10kms quicker than Archer.

I'm surprised to see Ben Duckett out there but he's done a good job to take that one.

What a day Ben Duckett is having.

    Huge for England. Absolutely HUGE!

Steve Smith cannot resist chasing another brisk delivery from Mark Wood and ends up sending a thick edge into the hands of Ben Duckett at slip.

Wood's lengths have been excellent and he lured Smith into thinking he could drive that. Smith ends up stuck on the crease a little with hardly any footwork.

    Archer v Smith again.

Strap in. Cricket does not get better.

  16. Aus 27-1published at 4 overs

Australia captain Steve Smith is the new batter and he smears Jofra Archer through the covers for four. Nicely played. This should be an intriguing battle.

That is such a big wicket for England.. Australia are under a bit of pressure after losing one half of their opening order.

I had been very nervous about the prospect of Travis Head on this pitch! Huge wicket.

There was no real celebration at all from Jofra Archer, it was a very good catch. I think he may have hurt his hand a bit there, he's already feeling the pain of taking that ball. He made it look so easy.

'Big wicket for England!' - Head caught and bowled by Archer for six

England get an early breakthrough, and it's Australia's in-form batter who is on his way.

Travis Head attempts to thump a Jofra Archer delivery which is angling away from him but ends up pinging it straight back at the bowler.

Archer stands rooted to the spot, and you have expect him to break out into an elaborate celebration, but he's actually grimacing a little because he took it at an awkward and it caught him on inside of his wrist, or on a finger nail, perhaps.

    Either way, a sharp take.
