'Wonderful timing!' - Short smashes Carse over mid-wicket for six

Brydon Carse is having a tough time of it here. Matthew Short picks up a delivery which is only a fraction short from the England quick, swivels on his heels, and mullers it over the boundary at mid-wicket for six.

"Pakistan, zindabad!" chant the crowd at the Gaddafi Stadium as the decibel level climbs.

Adil Rashid has bowled a really good first over but Marnus Labuschagne has played well so it will be interesting to see how these two match up.

This game is ticking along very nicely.

  5. Aus 85-2published at 12 overs

A run a ball off Adil Rashid's first over from Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Short as they wisely knock the ball into the gaps to start with.

The floodlights, atop of impressive pylons, are beaming down at the Gaddafi Stadium as the lights of the traffic twinkle on the bridges and roads around the ground.

    A tough chance.

Matthew Short hammers Adil Rashid's first delivery back at it him low and hard.

Rashid gets his right hand down low to stop what would be have been a four, but cannot cling on to earn himself a wicket.

You associate Marnus Labuschagne with digging in and knocking it about. He's racked up a nice total so far.

It's been risk free cricket from Marnus Labuschagne. There's been some classic shots from him.

  9. Aus 79-2published at 11 overs

End of the powerplay and Jofra Archer is into a nice rhythm for England now the field has spread somewhat.

Three dots and bumper to finish from Archer.

Time for a bit of Adil Rashid.

There's been 14 boundaries so far, the ball has found the rope quite frequently. England have rejigged their field.

What a pitch this is to bat on. The outfield is really quick and it's a massive ground.

It's been a nice start from Marnus Labuschagne so far.

  13. Aus 76-2published at 10 overs

Marnus Labuschagne with a stroke of fortune as he inside edges a back-of-a-length delivery from Brydon Carse for four.

Two more boundaries for Labuschagne but there's nothing fortunate about then as Carse's lengths go a little awry.

First he's too full to Labuschagne and the Aussie batter effortlessly flicks him through mid-wicket for four. Then Carse is too short and Labuschagne pulls the England quick off the front foot.

    An expensive over.

Australia are in a very similar area to where England were, but they have the added pressure of the chase.

  15. Aus 62-2published at 9 overs

Jofra Archer is poker-faced between deliveries.

Much tighter from the England pace bowler as he hits that Test length giving Matthew Short and Marnus Labuschagne little option but to work it into the gaps.

Joe Root talked about hitting the stumps and building pressure after the early overs and those plans are being executed to the tee at the moment.

Mark Wood has bowled with extreme pace so far, he's been well into the 150s. It's been a good fightback from Australia so far though. We're in for a good contest.

Brydon Carse bounces Matthew Short with the final ball of the over. The Aussie opener is struck in the arm pit as he attempts to hook it.

He'll have a bruise there later, but not even a flicker of emotion from the Victorian.

Here's the two Australia wickets which have fallen so far - and they were quite handy ones for England to get back in the hutch nice and early.

England should look to use Adil Rashid soon, especially with Matt Short on the attack who's used to pace, he wouldn't have faced much Rashid.
