Still the spin tandem continues, and Joe Root goes to exert a bit of pressure on Axar Patel, cracking him through mid-wicket for four.

A leg side wide brings up England's 150 - the visitors have scored 20 runs from the last five overs.

I have no problem with England batting carefully for the next 5-6 overs to just negotiate the tricky patch. However, they need to then remember where the accelerator is!

England run up five singles from Jadeja's six over.

Meanwhile there's a man in the stands with a backpack and hose that emits a light spray, which he is using to cool the crowds in Cuttack.

It's 29 degrees out there, but no doubt feels warmer in areas where there's no shade.

  4. Eng 138-2published at 25 overs

Up goes Axar for an lbw call against Joe Root as the England batter attempts a sweep.

Nothing from the umpire and India decide not to appeal... but wait.

Ball tracking has all reds - that would be have been out on review.

    Root survives on 16.

  5. Eng 135-2published at 24 overs

One of Daniel Norcross' boring middle overs as Jadeja sends down a maiden to Brook.

I don't suppose Jadeja would be so bothered - he's gone for 1-15 from his five overs today.

Everyone happy now? England playing carefully, not losing wickets and going at a mighty three runs an over.

Lovely shot from Joe Root, reversing Axar past short third.

He moves to 16 from 22, steady stuff from this pair thus far.

We are now officially into ‘the boring middle overs’, a phase of the game that England have struggled to master in recent years, tending to make it far more ‘interesting’ than they should do.

Despite being troubled by Varun Chakravarthy on this tour (three dismissals in five innings), Harry Brook has looked to take him on, scoring six boundaries against him while employing an attacking shot to 74% of his deliveries (second-most against any Indian bowler on this tour after the 76% against Axar Patel).

  10. Eng 130-2published at 22 overs

Jadeja to continue, and Brook cuts him away neatly for four runs past the fielder at short third.

Joe Root comes to close to getting out two balls later, trying to turn the ball into the leg side.

The spinner's ball gripped in the pitch and carried just over the stumps.

England going along at nearly six an over in the first 20 overs, but WinViz suggests the hosts will still be the happier of the two sides.

    Thanks Elizabeth.

    Quite a fun last 20, I thought.

Axar Patel to bowl for the first time today - his third delivery is a wide that slides away to the boundary, with KL Rahul unable to get hold of the ball behind the stumps.

  13. Eng 118-2published at 20 overs

Ravindra Jadeja gets through his overs quickly, doesn't he? Two singles off the over as England move to 118-2 after 20 overs.

And now it's time to hand over to Mike Peter for the next 20 overs.

  14. Eng 116-2published at 19 overs

A positive over for Harry Brook. Will he look to take on Ravindra Jadeja as well?

  15. 6 runs

    Eng 115-2published at 18.4 overs

That will settle any nerves Harry Brook might have been feeling.

He crunches Varun Chakravarthy over extra cover for six.

It sometimes feel as though any attacking shot at all will lead to people saying England are too reckless. It’s limited over cricket being played by naturally attacking batsmen, you can’t criticise them every time they get out going for a big shot!

India have really put the brakes on England's scoring since moving to spin from both ends. The past four overs have cost just 13 runs and brought the big wicket of Ben Duckett.

You would expect Ben Duckett to take on his favorable match-up versus Ravindra Jadeja, but in his ODI career, he has been dismissed by left-arm spinners on five occasions at an average of just 26.8.

Interestingly, against off-spinners, that average jumps to 128.0.

Out of the eight times that he has crossed 50 in his ODI career, Duckett has now been dismissed between 60 and 75 on five occasions.

A huge lbw shout against Harry Brook on 0.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have a conference but don't take it. That looked close.
