  1. SA 43-0published at 6 overs

Brits almost gets herself in trouble from the first ball of Matthews' over, skewing the ball just short of long on.

She's looked in slightly shaky touch - no such worries for Wolvaardt, who cracks the final ball of the over through mid-wicket for another boundary.

That's the end of the powerplay, with South Africa really well set to chase their target of 119.

This is getting a little bit tricky for Tazmin Brits and she's just getting a little bit frustrated. She hasn't scored so far in this over, she's been tied down a little, and she's struggling to be the aggressive batter that she wants to be.

  3. SA 36-0published at 5 overs

More off-breaks as Karishma Ramharack takes the ball for the penultimate over of the powerplay.

She starts with three dots before Brits takes a single, bringing Wolvaardt back to immediately sweep behind square for her fifth four.

  4. SA 31-0published at 4 overs

Captain Hayley Matthews brings her off-breaks into the attacks and sees her first ball slip agonisingly over the top of Brits' stumps and run away for two byes.

Brits gets two off the bat from the following delivery, knocking past the square leg fielder.

Laura Wolvaardt offered a little bit of a chance there for the West Indies, but it wasn't taken and it races to the boundary.

  6. SA 26-0published at 3 overs

    Laura Woolvardt's early pressure continues.

Brought onto strike by a first-ball single, she racks up ten runs in the leg side from the next five deliveries, including two fours whipped past mid-on.

She moves to 20 from 13.

  7. SA 15-0published at 2 overs

Laura Wolvaardt is such a classy player.

She picks Joseph's length early and dispatches her for four through square leg.

A decent start for South Africa.

Yes, James is going to have to come off, her chin is already visibly swelling.

Left-arm spinner Qiana Joseph comes on in her place, Brits fends her first ball to mid-wicket.

Curiously this is the second game in a row where an opening bowler has gone off after one ball, after Pakistan's Diana Baig limped off against Sri Lanka yesterday.

    Ouch!

Wolvaardt drives Zaida James's first delivery into the pitch and the ball bursts through the bowler's hands and clips her chin.

    The physio will come on.

    Copy-chat behaviour from Tazmin Brits!

This was a 140 pitch, that's what I was thinking, so South Africa will definitely be taking this total in their stride.

  13. SA 4-0published at 0.3 overs

Laura Wolvaardt is in a mood to get going, she carves Chinelle Henry's third delivery through the covers for the first boundary of the innings.

    Hello there.

Today I've actually only had some chocolate cereal that not's befitting a man in his mid to late thirties.

    Don't tell my mother.

Right, I'm off to get myself some luncheon.

Doubtless my colleague Mike Peter has already had his. He will tell you what he had, and talk you through South Africa's response.

Deandra Dottin, who came out of retirement to make the West Indies squad for the Women's T20 World Cup, believes the Windies are a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.

"We are actually a force to be reckoned with, because of our name and what we have done previously and I believe we can use that to our advantage while not taking anybody for granted," Dottin told Stumped's Alison Mitchell.

"I think we have a very good chance at this World Cup. It's just a matter of keeping our composure, not getting too lackadaisical and sticking to the basics and executing it," the 33-year-old all-rounder said.

West Indies reached all five T20 World Cup semi-finals between 2010 and 2018 lifting the trophy in 2016, but have crashed out in the group stage in the last two editions.

Even though they struggled to build that really big partnership in the middle, we saw some brilliant boundaries from West Indies, but they weren't able to do it for long enough. I thought South Africa fielded really well and took a couple of brilliant catches.
