  1. 50 runs

for Graeme van Buurenpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 319-5

Graeme van Buuren pushes a ball from Tawanda Muyeye into the covers where a mis-field gifts him two runs and enables him to reach 50 off 56 balls. The Gloucestershire lead is 398 and we are now having a drinks break.

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 313-5

A new ball is now available, but spinner Jack Leaning will continue for Kent.

James Bracey was ok to continue his innings for Gloucestershire following a bit of treatment on his ankle (see 2:33 entry).

He is dropped at short extra cover as he drives the final ball of Leaning's over but fails to get his weight over it.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time

    Leonard b Zafar 47 (Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 325-9, lead by 54 runs)

What on earth was Ned Leonard thinking?

Zafar Gohar has been looking dangerous and Leonard, who had batted well up to that point, attempts an ungainly and unbalanced reverse sweep and misses.

Given the state of the game that has to be one of the least astute shot choices and a frustrated swish of the bat says it all.

One wicket for Middlesex will leave a short run chase and a win at the end of it.

  4. Update from Edgbastonpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 & 163-6 v Notts 367 (trail by 11 runs)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

The umpires Tom Lungley and James Middlebrook conferred with the ground staff at around two o’clock, and the mopping-up operation has just begun.

Tea will be taken at 3.10pm with a view to a 3.30pm start.

The skies are certainly brighter now – or perhaps less dark would be more appropriate – than at any previous point today.

At the rate Nottinghamshire have been taking wickets in the match so far, a couple of hours ought to suffice to close out what would be a deserved victory, but Ed Barnard’s stoic batting through the final session yesterday set a good example to his remaining partners.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time

    Cooke lbw b Brookes 69 (Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 321-8, lead by 50 runs)

    Could be a big wicket.

Chris Cooke was looking comfortable out there but has been undone by a yard extra pace from Henry Brookes who gets a marginal call on leg stump.

Two more wickets to go and a little run chase stands in the way of Middlesex and a first win of the season.

  6. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 158-2 (lead by 6 runs)

The umpires are currently back on the field of play at The Utilita Bowl without the players.

As soon we appear to eventually get restarted in Southampton, the umpires decide to wave the hover cover back on to the field.

Very frustrating but the weather from the south west of the ground appears to brightening up so let's hope it is only a further minor delay before we get going again once and for all.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time

    Revis c Robinson b Ackermann 40 (Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 317-7, lead by 152 runs)

Too little too late you suspect but Durham have broken this partnership.

Ollie Robinson juggles it a couple of times behind the stumps but holds on as Colin Ackermann gets the edge.

The partnership was up to 92 and has probably done enough to force this game to a draw but you never know.

  8. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 301-5

James Bracey goes down awkwardly as he hurries to complete a single called by partner Graeme van Buuren.

His left boot is off and he is holding his ankle. The Gloucestershire physio is taking a look. They lead by 380.

  9. Close!published at 14:29 British Summer Time

    Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 307-7

Zafar Gohar thought he had his man there with a confident shout for lbw against Ned Leonard on 35, but the umpire is unimpressed.

It looks as though it has hit him straight on the back thigh as he goes down to sweep but replays show that has brushed the front pad on its way through and straightened on to the stumps.

A very good decision as it happens.

Leonard rubs salt by lifting the final ball of the over into the stands over wide long on.

    Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 261-5 (lead by 141 runs)

Yorkshire's Jonny BairstowImage source, Rex Features

Having failed by one wicket to land a win against Warwickshire in round two, Durham will start to believe the fates are conspiring against them if, as seems increasingly likely, Yorkshire escape with a draw.

With the lead 141 and counting, and with Jonny Bairstow (82) and Matt Revis (30) looking pretty comfortable in the middle, that is the way this match is heading.

Two wickets late last night when Ben Raine and Matthew Potts removed Adam Lyth and Dawid Malan put momentum in their hands but the Yorkshire captain and an unresponsive pitch has taken it back.

Potts is into the 30th over of this innings and there will come a point where Durham captain Alex Lees might start to think about a trip to Worcestershire in four days time and give his front line bowlers a break.

  11. Postpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 286-5

Graeme van Buuren square cuts a wide ball from Tawanda Muyeye for four at the start of a new over at Canterbury.

    Gloucestershire now lead by 365.

  12. Play expected to resume at 2:30pmpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 158-2 (lead by 6 runs)

Some good news to tell you about at Hampshire.

The rain is starting to pass over the Utilita Bowl and, if it remains that way, we will resume play at 2:30pm with 53 overs left in the day to be bowled.

  13. Postpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time

    Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 286-7 (lead by 25 runs)

Chris Cooke and Ned Leonard continue to frustrate Middlesex but the hosts will still feel they are one wicket away from breaking through Welsh defences.

The shouts are becoming louder and more prolonged whenever the bat misses but that one doesn't as another four is crunched through the covers by Leonard moving him to 28.

  14. Brookes knock should give him 'great deal of confidence'published at 14:10 British Summer Time

Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson hailed a "remarkable" innings by Ethan Brookes after he made a brilliant 88 in an ultimately losing effort against Essex at Chelmsford.

Brookes was the last man out as the Pears were dismissed for 266, chasing a victory target of 295.

"For him to produce something like that should give him a great deal of confidence," said Richardson.

"The coaching staff here have known Ethan for a long time so when he left Warwickshire we knew there was something there. He got his maiden first-class hundred against Hampshire last year on a spin-friendly wicket, which was also an amazing innings.

"Yes, he did throw the kitchen sink at a few but the way he conducted himself and the fact Jacob [Duffy] faced so few balls was real testament to an intelligent cricketer, someone who knew how to go about it."

  15. Rain delay updatespublished at 14:07 British Summer Time

A quick weather update if you've just joined us.

We are currently yet to see a ball bowled at Old Trafford and Edgbaston today due to persistent light rain overhanging Manchester and Birmingham.

The resumption at the Utilita Bowl between Hampshire and Somerset has been delayed after early lunch was taken due to rain in Southampton.

Meanwhile at The County Ground, the match between Derbyshire and Northamptonshire has already been abandoned and ends as a draw without any play possible on the final day.

  16. 250 up for Gloucestershirepublished at 14:05 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 258-5

Graeme van Buuren pushes Joey Evison to mid-wicket for a single and Gloucestershire reach 250 in the 68th over of their second innings.

James Bracey glances Jack leaning for four in the next over and the lead is now 337.

  17. 'A draw looks the most likely result'published at 14:03 British Summer Time

    Sussex 435 & 35-0 v Surrey 490

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

It was a good morning for Sussex taking the last seven wickets for 100 and restricting the Surrey lead to just 55

With the floodlights on there was more assistance for the seamers Ollie Robinson dismissed Dan Lawrence without adding to his overnight 117, in the first over of the day.

Jayden Seales picked up two wickets in a pacey spell and spinner James Coles with career best figures of 5-108 rattled through the middle order.

Sussex aren’t quite out of the woods yet, but this is still a very good batting surface and a draw looks the most likely result.

  18. Are there any bowlers out there?published at 13:57 British Summer Time

    Durham 427 v Yorkshire 307 & 239-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham knew their chances of bowling out Yorkshire were already tough because of the loss of Paul Coughlin to a side strain.

Now it's emerged Brendan Doggett is unable to play any further part after hurting his ankle in the morning warm-up. I am told it is a precaution, but it means more overs having to be shared by the likes of Ben Raine and Matthew Potts.

With winter signing Sam Conners unavailable because of injury and suggestions Potts will not be available at Worcester on Friday, due to England restrictions, I am wondering who they are going to field in their bowling attack at New Road?

As for this game? Well, it appears to be drifting towards an inevitable draw, with bad weather not too far away.

  19. Back under way at Lord'spublished at 13:52 British Summer Time

    Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 277-7

Middlesex are chasing three more wickets to secure a first win of the campaign and Ryan Higgins has had first crack at Glamorgan's eighth wicket partnership.

Now Dane Paterson will have a go from the Nursery End.

  20. Back under way at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time

    Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 232-5 (lead by 112 runs)

Matthew Potts has the ball in hand and Jonny Bairstow in his sights as Durham look to push this game on before rain arrives.

The Met Office has it that rain could arrive at any stage between 2-3pm and it is looking gloomier at Chester-le-Street where the floodlights are blazing.
