  1. 'It all appeared to have ended amicably'published at 12:54 British Summer Time

Essex beat Worcestershire by 28 runs

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

It's difficult. Jamie Porter sprawled forward. It wasn't one of those where he clearly got his hands underneath it because it was right down by his toes.

Ethan Brookes obviously thought that there was some doubt. Replays were inconclusive, Porter feeling that he caught it and it all appeared to have ended amicably.

It was a magnificent attempt from Brookes to single handedly win the game for Worcestershire but he fell short in the end.

    A cracking game of cricket.

  2. 'What a brilliant morning session'published at 12:52 British Summer Time

Essex beat Worcestershire by 28 runs

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

It's been a very good day for Essex in the end but my word they were pushed all the way by a brilliant innings by Ethan Brookes.

What a performance from Jamie Porter with 6-52. What a great job he did this morning with the critical early wicket of Matthew Waite and then finishing it off that low caught and ball chance.

In the end the umpires were happy with it and Ethan Brookes accepted it and he had to go. What a brilliant morning session we've had.

  3. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time

    Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 220-5 (lead by 100 runs)

Jonny Bairstow is doing what Jonny Bairstow does, namely, bat in the same busy and aggressive manner whatever the situation.

He is up to 63 off 106 balls and has nine boundaries as Yorkshire continue to frustrate Durham.

The lead is up to 100 now and the chances of Durham landing this first win are slimming.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time

    O Price c sub b Leaning 56 (Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 226-3)

Ollie Price plays for turn that isn't there and substitute keeper Chris Benjamin takes the catch to give Jack leaning his second wicket of the innings.

Gloucestershire are 305 ahead as first-innings centurion Cameron Green comes out to bat.

  5. wicket

SURREY 490 ALL OUTpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time

    Sykes c Simpson b Coles 37 (Sussex 435 v Surrey 490, lead by 55 runs)

A fine feather on the way through. Yes says the umpire even if Ollie Sykes doesn't think he got anything on it.

James Coles has 5-108, Surrey have maximum batting points, Sussex maximum bowling points and the hosts will bat again.

  6. Postpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 223-2

Five from the latest Jack Leaning over at Canterbury and Gloucestershire's lead is now over 300.

Miles Hammond is 83 not out, Ollie Price has 55 and together they have so far added 130 for the third wicket.

  7. Lunch at Southamptonpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 158-2 (lead by 6)

The umpires have gathered in the middle for a chat and, with gloomy weather overhead, we are going off for an early lunch at The Utilita Bowl.

Hopefully we'll be back in approximately 40 minutes time with more cricket to tell you about in Southampton.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Ollie Pricepublished at 12:40 British Summer Time

    Kent 395 v Glos 472 & 211-2

Gloucestershire's Ollie Price raises his bat, signalling a well earned half-century off 116 balls for the visitors.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time

    Fisher b Coles 0 (Sussex 435 v Surrey 479-8, lead by 44 runs)

Matt Fisher has been done by the turn and James Coles has another – his fourth wicket of the innings.

  10. Postpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 156-2

Sean Dickson and Tom Abell see out another over comfortably as Somerset's slender lead goes up to four.

Change of bowling for Hampshire and the first time we've seen spin on the final day - Liam Dawson is on for the hosts.

  11. 'A big band of rain is heading our way'published at 12:35 British Summer Time

    Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 213-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Grey, grey skies in Chester-le-Street, the lights have been on since about 10:45 BST.

A big band of rain is heading our way which should arrive here at around about 14:15 BST.

I think from then on in that will probably be that because it's talking about a 90% to 95% chance of rain for quite a few hours.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time

    Atkinson b Coles 4 (Sussex 435 v Surrey 479-8, lead by 44 runs)

James Coles will not get a wicket with a worse ball than that this season, surely.

A full toss wide outside off stump and Gus Atkinson's eyes light up. One inside edge later, his stumps are rearranged.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time

    Clark lbw b Coles 14 (Sussex 435 v Surrey 465-7, lead by 30 runs)

Jordan Clark goes down on one knee and attempts to sweep James Coles for four towards square leg. He misses and the ball hits his thigh in line just about in line with leg stump.

That looked to be going a bit leg side but given he has been clattered twice in the box by Jayden Seales and Ollie Robinson in recent overs it is perhaps no surprise he is happy to walk.

  14. ESSEX BEAT WORCESTERSHIRE BY 28 RUNSpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time
    Breaking

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcestershire 202 & 266

    Controversy at Chelmsford.

Ethan Brookes tries to work the ball to leg, it lobs into the air off a leading edge and Jamie Porter dives forward to claim a return catch.

Brookes isn't satisfied it was taken cleanly and there is a brief stand-off before the teams shake hands.

The Worcestershire all-rounder makes 88 off 105 balls with seven sixes - a quite brilliant innings - and Porter finishes with figures of 6-52 as Essex secure their first win of the season.

  15. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time

    Worcs 266-9 - target 295

Ethan Brookes isn't interested in singles.

One hand comes off the bat as he scoops a delivery from Jamie Porter high over fine leg and it soars away for another six.

Brookes is 88 not out and Worcestershire are just 29 short of this target.

  16. Latest from Canterburypublished at 12:25 British Summer Time

Miles Hammond sweeps Jack Leaning for four as Gloucestershire pass 200 in their second innings at Canterbury. Hammond has 76 not out, Ollie Price is on 44 and they lead Kent by 282.

  17. new ball

Second new ballpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time

    Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 204-5 (lead by 84 runs)

Ben Raine has the new ball in hand as Durham look for another breakthrough. Jonny Bairstow clips the second delivery for four and takes a single to get off strike with the third.

  18. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time

    Worcs 260-9 - target 295

Composure restored, Ethan Brookes faces up to the final two deliveries of Jamie Porter's over.

This time he can't pinch the strike so it will be Jacob Duffy up against Shane Snater at the start of the next.

  19. 150 runs

150 up for Somersetpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 154-2

A good in-swinger from James Fuller hits Sean Dickson on the pad in front but looks to have also flicked the inside edge and the 150 comes up for Somerset.

In the following order, a couple of two's from Dickson sees him go to 72 meaning Somerset are now ahead in the match - leading by two with eight wickets remaining.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time

    van der Gugten b Paterson 28 (Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 233-7)

The second delivery with the second new ball does the trick, seaming a mile off the track and flattening Timm van der Gugten's off stump.

Great delivery from Dane Paterson and, it has to be said, a superb catch of the stump by Leus du Plooy at second slip!

Glamorgan are still 38 runs adrift of Middlesex's first innings effort and Toby Roland-Jones's side are closing in on a victory.
