That will take the wind out of his sails.

Ethan Brookes becomes the latest batter to be struck where it hurts most this morning as Jamie Porter clatters him 'amidships'.

He rolls on the floor briefly before the physio comes out - presumably with a handful of ice cubes.

    Warwicks 93 & 163-6 v Notts 367

With rain continuing to fall at Edgbaston, an early lunch will be taken at 12:30.

We will provide you with any further updates as we get them as Nottinghamshire look to force a result on the final day.

It certainly has been an interesting game throughout.

Even at this late stage with it almost done, we're watching something quite special here from a young English all-rounder in Ethan Brookes.

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 449-6 (lead by 14 runs)

Jordan Clark has been pinged again!

This is not quite as much of a crusher as the one from Jayden Seales but Ollie Robinson has got another to lift off the pitch and clatter the Surrey man in the box for a second time.

The field is widespread as Essex try to prevent Ethan Brookes from keeping the strike.

The tactic doesn't work as a slow bouncer from Shane Snateris dabbed down to third man for one.

Brookes is 80 not out and Worcestershire require 37 runs for what would be an incredible victory.

    Odds, still on Essex, though.

A beautiful cover drive from Tom Abell brings him four and Somerset trail Hampshire by just five runs now.

    Wow.

Shane Snater comes up and Ethan Brookes launches the ball back over his head for yet another six - and a 50 partnership with Jacob Duffy.

Superb stuff - and it's followed by four byes as a wayward delivery beats the keeper, who is standing up to the stumps.

  8. 'An innings of tremendous class'published at 12:12 British Summer Time

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcestershire 202 & 247-9

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

This has been an innings of tremendous class from Ethan Brookes.

He's looking to be aggressive and the only hope for Worcestershire is for him to collect boundaries.

The Ethan Brookes onslaught continues as he pulls Jamie Porter's second ball for four.

An attempted uppercut doesn't come off as he fails to make contact and he scampers a single after being deceived by a slower ball.

Can Jacob Duffy see out the over? Yes. Brookes is 73 not out.

This is a tremendous effort by Ethan Brookes, who hammers Simon Harmer for the fifth six of his innings.

He rotates the strike by taking a single from the final delivery and Essex decide to bring back Jamie Porter, who will have a new ball at his disposal.

Worcestershire need another 53 if Brookes can keep this going.

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 439-6 (lead by 4 runs)

Jordan Clark is lying prostrate after Jayden Seales fires an in-ducker which the Surrey man defends with his box.

    That looks painful.

It's been a steady first hour from both sides in Southampton.

Somerset are slowly eating their way into that deficit and now trail by just 15 runs with eight wickets remaining.

Another brilliant shot by Ethan Brookes, who pulls Kasun Rajitha through square leg for four with a Caribbean flourish.

Gordon Greenidge would have been proud of that one.

Rajitha responds by rapping him on the fingers and the batsman takes off his glove as he trots through for a single.

  15. Middlesex move closer to first winpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 199 & 212-6 v Middlesex 470-9 declared

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Middlesex struck early in their bid to beat both Glamorgan and any poor weather as Toby Roland-Jones claimed the wicket of Kiran Carlson, who looked disappointed to be given out caught behind without addition to his overnight 54.

Under overcast skies, Chris Cooke and Timm van der Gugten dug in grimly against Middlesex’s four-man seam attack as the score crawled past 200 with the first boundary not coming until the 13th over of the day, when van der Gugten straight-drove Henry Brookes for four.

Spinner Zafar Gohar found some turn immediately, but Middlesex have a second new ball available shortly as they bid for an innings win.

  16. It's raining at Edgbastonpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 & 163-6 v Notts 367

Just a quick update from Warwickshire and, bad news if you're of a Nottinghamshire persuasion, it's still raining at Edgbaston.

The covers remain firmly on and there is no sign that there will be any play today just yet with Notts four wickets away from victory.

Simon Harmer drops fractionally short and Ethan Brookes just clears the fielder on the mid-wicket boundary to reach his first 50 of the season from 73 balls.

An impressive innings by the young man.

    Hill c McKinney b Ackermann 24 (Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 176-5, lead by 54 runs)

George Hill cannot believe he has done that. A long hop that should have been bullied over the rope has ended in the hands of Ben McKinney at widish midwicket.

Hill's eyes lit up but he didn't get his feet in the right place and has pulled that straight to the fielder ending 53 minutes of solid play from Yorkhsire.

With the lead only 54, the hosts will believe the win is back on here although Yorkshire have plenty of runs in their middle to lower order you would think.

Two big shouts for LBW in as many balls from Kyle Abbott.

The first provides a huge appeal from behind the wicket but looks uppish.

The following delivery Abbott steams in and again the ball hits Sean Dickson on the pad but it looks like it is going down leg stump.

Good hostile bowling, however, from the South African.

    Full-on Bazball now at Chelmsford.

Ethan Brookes ramps the first ball of a new Kasun Rajitah over for six.

The next ball is a low full toss and he swings it over square leg for another maximum.

    Brookes is 48 not out.
