  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time

    Lyth c Verreynne b Patterson-White 44 (Yorks 114-2, target 463)

Change of pace for Notts as Haseeb Hameed chucks the ball to left-arm spinner Liam Patterson-White.

And it brings immediate dividends (or nearly immediate with L P-W's third ball).

Adam Lyth is trying to cut that away but too close to his body and he feathers it through to the keeper.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time

Rushworth c Jones b Duffy 0 (Warwicks 280 all out, lead by 326)

    And that's your innings!

Jacob Duffy's next ball is tentatively pushed at by Chris Rushworth who is caught at Rob Jones at second slip.

A good end from Duffy and Worcestershire will return to the crease with a target of 326 to win.

  3. 'This will be tough for Worcestershire'published at 17:06 British Summer Time

    Worcs 181 v Warks 227 & 280

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

There's a lot of cricket to come, there is time but this is going to be a challenge for Worcestershire.

I think if at the start of the day you said the target would be 327, you'd have said they would struggle to get that.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time

Bamber hit wicket Duffy 9 (Worcs 280-9, lead by 326)

    What a bizarre dismissal!

Ethan Bamber looks to heave Jacob Duffy for six and ends up crashing the bails off with his bat.

The ball ends up flying into the air and wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick takes a stunning diving catch, not knowing Bamber's stumps were already out of place and will not get the credit on the scorecard that he perhaps deserves.

A decent cameo from Bamber who could have been out twice there and he walks for nine.

  5. Postpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time

    Worcs v Warwicks 279-8 (lead by 325)

Sam Hain continues to play the correct shots and has now ticked over to 86 not out, seemingly unbothered by the loss of his recent partner Chris Woakes.

He has been superb for Warwickshire today and will hope he can reach his century without losing any other partners.

  6. Postpublished at 128.2 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 432-6

    Lovely shot.

Charlie Allison hits a low skimmer over mid-on for a two-bounce boundary. A single follows to take him to 118.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time

    Jennings c Handscomb b Scriven 112 (Lancs 214-6, trail by 37 runs)

    Big, big wicket.

Ben Cox is standing up to Scriven's medium pace and it is a good job he didn't get any glove on that. Or certainly didn't seem to on the replay.

Keaton Jennings did though with the ball spitting horribly off a length and taking a flick of the glove past Cox.

Peter Handscomb takes an excellent diving catch to his right to land a huge blow in the context of the match.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time

    Bell-Drummond c Jewell b Chappell 2 (Derbys (587-5 dec v Kent 326 & 65-2)

You can't keep Celeb Jewell out of this game.

Not content with scoring 232, that is his third catch as Kent's captain edges Zak Chappell to first slip.

Ben Compton is still there on 33 not out but it's not looking good for the visitors.

  9. Postpublished at 126.5 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 425-6

Tom Lawes tries a slower ball but Charlie Allison waits for it and strokes it with assurance through cover for another boundary.

He progresses to 112 not out and the lead is 364.

  10. 'Surrey may still have a chance'published at 16:54 British Summer Time

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 424-6

    David Brett
    BBC Essex

Surrey will think to themselves if we bat well we've still got a chance, but if Essex got Surrey in tonight and nicked a couple out this evening then it changes the whole equation.

  11. Postpublished at 126.1 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 421-6

How heartening must this be for Essex, to see two of their younger players out there and batting as well as this.

Noah Thain loves a bit of width and punishes Tom Lawes when he provides it, with a square cut for four.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time

Procter lbw O Price 10 (Northants 26-1, lead by 116)

Gloucestershire make the breakthrough and they claim the scalp of the captain!

It is a strange choice of shot from Luke Procter, who looks to sweep but gets it awfully wrong and it goes straight on to hit him plumb in front.

Good bowling, however, from spinner Ollie Price in his first over.

  13. Postpublished at 125.4 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 416-6

Noah Thain is caught in two minds and lets a short of a length ball from Jamie Overton hit him in the chest.

In the best Brian Close tradition, he doesn't rub it.

  14. Sussex delighted by 'massive' winpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time

Sussex were the first team to win today - beating Hampshire by nine wickets at the Utilita Bowl.

Here's what all-rounder Fynn Hudson-Prentice had to say about it.

“It is a massive win for us especially coming off the back of some heavy defeats away from home. To come here and play the way we did was huge for us and a confidence booster.

“There is a sense of responsibility [with Ollie Robinson and Daniel Hughes missing] that other players gain. Ollie has been fantastic for many years and is an international level bowler and Dan’s been so good since he’s come over and been phenomenal.

“When you lose two players of that quality, who are settled in the team, there is an onus on others stepping up and performing."

  15. Postpublished at 124 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 415-6

Jamie Overton tests Charlie Allison with a short one - he swivels and pulls it behind square for four.

The lead climbs to 353 - there are 26 overs to go in the day, how do Essex go from here?

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time

    Woakes c Nicholls b Taylor 42 (Warwicks 265-8, lead by 311)

An important innings from Chris Woakes comes to an end.

Tom Taylor gets one to angle in at Woakes who edges to first slip and Henry Nicholls takes a sharp low take.

After a brief delay to check if it carried, Woakes walks graciously after a terrific knock and his eighth wicket stand with Sam Hain of 67 has helped put the visitors in a great position to win this local derby.

  17. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 123 overs

    Jason RoyImage source, Rex Features

Charlie Allison edges Tom Lawes, but Jason Roy cannot hold on above his head at slip despite getting both hands to the ball.

Another frustrating moment in a day of frustrations for Surrey.

  18. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time

Northants 15-0 v Gloucs (lead by 105 runs)

Well, that's a statement of intent.

Ricardo Vasconcelos hooks Tom Price for six incredibly nonchalantly with a shot you're more likely to see later on this summer in the T20.

Inevitably, there is then a small break in play as the visitors aim to find where that ball actually ended up.

    Magnificent stuff.

  19. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time

    Yorks 159 & 63-1 v Notts 228 & 393-8d

That should have been four and that is poor from Dillon Pennington.

Brett Hutton is punched to the long off boundary by James Wharton and Pennington sets off in chase.

He gets there as the ball reaches the rope but his body is over it as he scoops it back.

It would be surprising if he didn't realise that but he gets up and throws it back in as Yorkshire run three.

    Shady.

  20. 100 runs

for Charlie Allisonpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 406-6

No punching the air, no histrionics, 20-year-old Charlie Allison quietly removes his helmet and raises his bat to acknowledge the Essex balcony.

What a moment - he pushes Jamie Overton away for a single to reach a maiden century off 185 balls.

An impressively mature contribution and one which augurs well for the future. Essex lead by 344.
