    Surrey 1-0 - target 418

Jamie Porter, as we mentioned, is 32 today.

Is there going to be a birthday wicket in this final mini-session for him?

Rory Burns cuts in the air, but it falls short of the fielder at third man and he takes a single.

  2. 'Pressure piling on Worcestershire'published at 17:47 British Summer Time

    Worcs 181 & 28-2 v Warks 227 & 280

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

The pressure has piled up very quickly here on Worcestershire now.

It's no great surprise that this was going to be a torrid time in the sense of difficulty for Worcestershire. They were hoping for a bit of good fortune today.

You're looking at this now with some concern for the home side.

    Surrey 0-0 - target 418

There are eight overs remaining at The Oval.

Surrey's first task, therefore, is to avoid losing a wicket before the close, then they can think about the feasibility of such a steep run chase tomorrow morning.

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley come out to face the new ball.

Nicholls lbw Woakes 2 (Worcs 25-2, target 327)

And another - terrific bowling from Chris Woakes!

That appeared to stay low and hit Henry Nicholls plumb in front.

Great swing bowling around the wicket from the England man to get his first of the innings and the visitors are on the charge now.

  5. Essex all out for 479published at 17:38 British Summer Time

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 479

    No declaration at The Oval.

Shane Snater tries to scramble a second run but is beaten by Nathan Smith's throw from long on.

So Surrey will need to score 418 to win this match.

    Leicestershire are unbeaten this season

A terrific win for Leicestershire – their fifth out of seven as they cement their position at the top of Division Two with a 24 point win.

Josh Hull secures an innings win with a caught and bowled, running to mid off to catch a steepler off his own bowling after Tom Hartley puts a short ball up in the air.

Rehan Ahmed and Lewis Hill, who both posted centuries in Leics only effort with the bat deserve plenty of the plaudits for this victory.

But Logan van Beek helped put the skids under Lancashire's second innings chase with 4-61 and two wickets each from Tom Scriven, Josh Hull and Ahmed finished the job.

Keaton Jennings delivered hearty resistance with 112 as Lancs ship sunk underneath his feet. The Red Rose county's troubles continue with no wins in seven.

But for Leics the dreams of a Division Two title will continue to float with a fourth win on the bounce in a sequence of WDDWWWW this campaign.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time

    Libby b Rushworth 5 (Worcs 20-1, target 327 v Warwicks)

No doubt about that one - breakthrough for Warwickshire!

It's the elder statesman Chris Rushworth who bamboozles Jake Libby all ends up and claims his off stump for his first wicket of the second innings.

Chris' Rushworth and Woakes look to have started where they left off after their superb spell at the beginning of yesterday.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time

    Rajitha c Lawes b Worrall 0 (Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 478-9)

After Shane Snater hammers Dan Worrall for six, Kasun Rajitha tries to do the same and is caught in the deep by Tom Lawes.

it means a visit to the crease on his 32nd birthday for Jamie Porter.

  9. 6 runs

Northants 71-3 (lead by 161 runs) v Gloucs

A short ball from Zaman Akhter is dismissed by 19-year-old Aadi Sharma over the short boundary for six superb runs.

    Stand and deliver!

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time

Phillip lbw b Ahmed 5 (Lancs 248-9, trail by 3 runs)

Absolutely no doubt about that as Anderson Phillip takes a step back and Rehan Ahmed turns one into his back pad bang in front of middle stump.

Can Lancs make Leics get their pads on again?

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time

    Allison c and b Clark 140 (Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 471-8)

Charlie Allison tries to swing Jordan Clark away over square leg but is fractionally too early and slices it up into the air, allowing the bowler plenty of time to position himself for the catch.

He batted for 305 minutes, faces 235 balls and hit two sixes and 19 fours.

    A brilliant innings.

  12. 'This gives Essex an opportunity'published at 17:27 British Summer Time

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 467-7

    Roland Butcher
Former England batter on BBC Sounds

I think they've worked themselves into a very good position.

The only thing Thain did wrong was to try and hit it in the onside, but that's the end of a very good innings.

In the context of the game, it could also be an innings that gives Essex an opportunity of winning this game.

  13. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 466-7

    Goodness.

A tired looking delivery by Dan Worrall is flayed into the seating beyond the mid-wicket boundary by Charlie Allison.

He is 138 not out at the end of that over - Essex now 405 ahead.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time

    Thain c Burns b Worrall 50 (Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 459-7)

The Essex batters have been told about an imminent declaration and Noah Thain immediately holes out to long-off.

Three wickets for Dan Worrall now - the lead, though, is 397.

  15. 50 runs

for Noah Thainpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 459-6

He scored on against Worcestershire earlier in the campaign and now Noah Thain has his second 50, nudging a single off Jordan Clark to reach it off 92 balls.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time

Miller lbw Akhter 14 (Northants 57-3, lead by 147)

Another one goes down for Northamptonshire!

Zaman Akhter traps Gus Miller plumb in front and doesn't even bother to look back at the umpire.

He knows the outcome already and the decision around an hour ago for Gloucestershire to declare is starting to look like an inspired one.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time

    Compton c Jewell b Brown 49 (Derbys 587-5 dec v Kent 326 & 94-3)

It only seems like a few hours ago we were describing Ben Compton reaching 150 in Kent's first innings - oh, hang on, it was only a few hours ago.

But we're not going to be telling you about another half-century by the rock of Canterbury because he's gone.

Pat Brown directs one at the left-hander's body and he fends it off to short leg where Caleb Jewell - who else - takes the catch.

There are 19 overs of play remaining at the end of this over.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time

    Bailey c Cox b Ahmed 1 (Lancs 234-8, trail by 17)

    Slipping away from Lancs now.

Tom Bailey is dragged forward by Rehan Ahmed and deemed to have got the edge as Ben Cox grabs the chance behind.

He stands and stares just long enough to get a little talking to from the umpire but he clearly feels he did not touch that.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time

    Malan b Patterson-White 12 (Yorks 132-3, target 463)

That has turned quite a bit and Dawid Malan has got himself tucked up as he tries to punch it into the off side.

It was a briefly entertaining cameo from Malan but whether that was what Yorkshire needed at the time you have to question.

Malan's intent was clear from the start and his execution was spot on right up to the point when Liam Patterson-White bowled him.

That is two wickets in consecutive overs for the spinner who, oddly enough, has got two left handers with balls turning into them.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time

Balderson b Hull 20 (Lancs 233-7, trail by 18 runs)

The wickets keep coming for Leics as they close on victory.

Not a right lot of foot movement from George Balderson who is trapped on the crease as the ball from Josh Hull nips back at him.

Quite a significant blow for Leics who are closing in now.
