Every ball counts. These next balls for the Fire are key because this total could get out of hand if Spirit were to have a big six balls. A key wicket and new batter in.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 94 balls

    J Overton c Walter b Payne 0 (Spirit 151-5)

Jamie Overton comes and goes quickly!

The big all-rounder tries to muscle the ball over wide long-on but it's not out of the middle of the bat.

Paul Walter is there again and pouches the catch to give David Payne his first wicket of the night.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 92 balls

Dickson run out (Payne) 14 (Spirit 151-4)

Run out off the free hit!

David Warner is able to get a clean connection and plinks the ball to leg.

It's into a gap so Sean Dickson looks to get back for two to give the strike back to Warner.

The right idea but there just wasn't two there, Warner shouts 'no!', Dickson is stranded halfway down, desperately tries to get back but he's cooked.

This could a very long nine balls for the Fire...

  5. Spirit 150-3published at 91 balls

Easy as you like for David Warner.

Mid-off is up, the ball is full and so Warner just chips it over the top for four.

Oh, and it's a no-ball from David Payne. Free hit...

  6. Spirit 143-3published at 90 balls

Crunched over extra cover by David Warner.

No reaction at all from the Welsh Fire fans - they're not going to clap the opposition.

There is a bit of joke between Warner and Jonny Bairstow after the next ball as the Australian goes a long, long way across his stumps and tries to pull the ball fine.

He misses and nearly overbalances. Surely that chat was about leaving your crease and so on...

38% of boundaries are scored straight down the ground at Cardiff in the men's Hundred, only Headingley (42%) has a higher percentage among the eight grounds.

What a shot that is from Sean Dickson!

A reverse scoop that is up and over the in-field and way for four.

  9. Postpublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 9 August

Welsh Fire have not been as sharp as they'd like in the field tonight with a number of catches going down.

Jonny Bairstow will certainly not want to see this one again...

  10. dropped catch

Warner dropped on 52published at 82 balls

    Spirit 128-3

Another catch goes down for Welsh Fire.

It's a very tough chance for Paul Walter in his follow through as David Warner drills the ball back at him.

He gets a hand to it but the ball bounces out.

Ashton Turner c Steve Smith b Riley Meredith is the first instance of three Australians being involved in a dismissal in the men's Hundred.

David Warner is a brilliant player. He's laid a brilliant platform for Spirit to build from.

  13. 50 runs

50 for David Warnerpublished at 80 balls

    Spirit 125-3

Cut away to deep backward point by David Warner - and that takes him to his half-century.

A first in The Hundred for the Australian and it comes up from 35 balls.

He's batted well after a challenging start but, of course, that doesn't stop a few in the crowd booing.

Ashton Turner can't believe it. In the previous over against Josh Hull he swatted it over for four in an identical ball. Steve Smith doesn't drop them. That wicket will help Welsh Fire believe they can get London Spirit for under 150.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 76 balls

    Turner c Smith b Meredith 24 (Spirit 119-3)

It's an all Aussie affair and Ashton Turner is on his way after an entertaining cameo.

Banged in by Riley Meredith, flat-batted by Ashton Turner but the connection isn't the cleanest and it goes to Steve Smith at mid-off.

    Simple catch.

  16. Spirit 119-2published at 75 balls

Four more to end Josh Hull's five - but that has to go down as a chance.

A fierce cut shot from Ashton Turner but the ball goes at a catchable height but Luke Wells at backward point is slow to react and it flashes past him.

  17. Spirit 113-2published at 73 balls

First the power then the deft touch from Ashton Turner.

After muscling the ball down the ground for four with a flat-batted shot, the Australian adds another boundary with a clever uppercut.

Using Josh Hull's pace to lift the ball comfortably over short third.

    Ravi Bopara
Former England all-rounder on BBC iPlayer

I think it's important the Welsh Fire bowlers don't get too predictable here because that shot suits Ashton Turner. He's very good at cross batted shots. They've got to change it up a little bit, maybe change the field.

150 would be a very good score for Spirit. Fire will be hoping to keep chipping away at the wickets.

  20. Not outpublished at 70 balls

    Spirit 105-2

In the end, nobody is happy.

David Warner got nothing on the attempted hook shot so it's not out and despite replays showing it was a borderline call on the wide, it's not going to be given so the batter isn't happy either.
