  1. Fire reviewpublished at 70 balls

    Spirit 105-2

Sharp bouncer to end Paul Walter's set and Welsh Fire think they might have got David Warner caught behind.

There is a lengthy discussion before they take the review.

Warner isn't happy because he thinks it should have been called wide.

  2. Spirit 102-2published at 67 balls

Ashton Turner finds the gap with a strong pull shot off Paul Walter.

Four to the total to take Spirit into three figures.

Left-handed top order batters have had considerably more success at Sophia Gardens in the men's Hundred, averaging 32.7 while right-handers average just 21.7.

  4. Spirit 98-2published at 65 balls

David Warner is firing on all cylinders now.

A superbly executed reverse sweep off left-arm spinner Saif Zaib goes up and over short third for four.

A single follows and the Aussie is up to 49 from 33 balls.

  5. 'I am so pumped for The Hundred'published at 18:50 British Summer Time 9 August

London Spirit Head Coach Justin Langer speaking to BBC Sport: "David Warner was up for grabs so why wouldn't we want him? He has had a lot of success over the past year and it's nice to have him in the team."

"When you lose wickets early it is disappointing, we did that in the first game. Kane [Williamson] and David [Warner] have set a really nice foundation. It is a short game so now it's time to cement a win."

"I am so pumped for The Hundred. At the match at Lord's people were streaming in to watch at two o'clock. It was beautiful to watch and it's great to have that club spirit."

On the Ashes: "Pigeon [Glenn McGrath] has predicted 5-0 to Australia, be he always predicts that! It will be an awesome Ashes series. The England-India series was amazing and the Aussies will know England will want to come back from that. It is sold out already so it's going to be a lot of fun."

London Spirit have really taken full advantage of the spinners. It's the pace bowlers that have really helped to contain things for Welsh Fire.

  7. Spirit 90-2published at 60 balls

Ashton Turner is at four for London Spirit.

He gets off the mark with a single and it might have been more but for an excellent stop by Tom Abell in the covers.

They've punched back there. Luke Wells was wobbling under the catch maybe because of the wind. Good catch in the end and much needed for Welsh Fire.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 58 balls

    Smith c Wells b Hull 26 (Spirit 89-2)

    Jamie Smith's fun is over.

The England man tries to go big again over the leg side but the ball flies up off a leading and hangs in the air for an age.

Luke Wells just about gets underneath it from short third and clings on. A second wicket for Josh Hull.

  10. 6 runs

    Spirit 89-1published at 57 balls

    The maximums keep coming!

Jamie Smith with a short-arm pull, taking on the long square boundaries and just about clearing it.

He goes again next ball and with the fielder in off the boundary, it's one that the bowler always hates to see - over the fielder's head but bouncing inside the rope. Four.

  11. 6 runs

    Spirit 79-1published at 55 balls

    Six more!

It's Jamie Smith this time, off the back foot and he hammers it over long-on for a maximum.

Paul Walter was the man out there but even he couldn't reach that.

David Warner is now shifting the momentum back into London Spirit's favour.

  13. 6 runs

    Spirit 72-1published at 53 balls

The boundaries are short straight at Cardiff and David Warner needs them to be here.

He hits Chris Green back down the ground and it only just clears the fielder at long-off.

No problem this time! Warner goes again and this one is straighter and longer. Big hit and made to look effortless by the Aussie left-hander.

  14. Spirit 60-1published at 50 balls

Paul Walter shakes his head after having a wide called against him for height - clearly he didn't agree.

It's still a good five from the left-arm seamer. Only five from it to take us to the halfway point of the innings.

As always the next ball goes for four. Why does this always happen in cricket?

We wouldn't normally see Jonny Bairstow put that one down. He throws the ball down in frustration.

    Spirit 55-1

Bairstow drops sitter to keep Smith at the crease

Oh, Jonny, what have you done?

A regulation catch for the former England wicketkeeper as Jamie Smith gets an under-edge on a pull but Jonny Bairstow puts it down. That is a bad drop.

He can't believe it, neither can Riley Meredith and the bowler's mood isn't helped by Smith glancing the next ball down to fine leg for four.

Can Smith cash in after two early chances?

It's a really important stage of the game at the moment. It's at that tipping point where the momentum is probably with Welsh Fire but London Spirit could wrestle their way back into the game and switch the momentum.

  19. Spirit 48-1published at 40 balls

Good first five from Chris Green, just five runs from it and this innings is still very delicately poised approaching the halfway stage.

David Warner is still there for Spirit on 27 from 22 balls but batting has looked slightly tricky so far. The ball isn't coming onto the bat as well as Warner and Jamie Smith would like.

  20. Smith dropped on 0published at 36 balls

    Spirit 44-1

Doubly painful moment for Chris Green as he puts down a very tough chance off his own bowling and might have injured his bowling hand in the process.

Jamie Smith smashes the ball back at him, Green dives to his right and has to go one-handed but can't cling on. It would have been a stunner.

The good news for him is that he is going to be able to continue.
