Re Stephan at 15:08… does that mean the Windies have bowled too short, or that Pope has judged outside his off stump well?

    There it is!

Pope heaves Seales through square for four and that's the century. He pumps a fist then raises a bat to an appreciative Trent Bridge crowd.

The score comes off 143 balls, it was wasn't always convincing - he was dropped on 46 and 54 - but I doubt Pope will care.

West Indies' Kevin Sinclair celebrates after taking the wicket of England's Harry Brook, caught out by Kirk McKenzieImage source, Reuters

That was a mistake from Harry Brook. Surely he is walking off thinking that he has thrown away a big score - it was basically an off-spinner that wasn't spinning!

This is a good chance for the skipper Ben Stokes. He was out cheaply at Lord's and didn't get a lot of runs in India. On a pitch like this, with the sun beating down, he would fancy getting a few.

  17. Eng 203-4published at 42 overs

    Here's the captain.

Ben Stokes gets off the mark by turning the ball square, before Sinclair beats the bat of Pope, rocking back to attempt a cut.

    Andy Zaltzman
    Statistician on Test Match Special

I have noted down nine misfields that have led to runs, a couple of which went for four.

So I have totalled around 18-20 runs which could have been avoided.

There was also an overthrow from one of the dropped catches, plus the three dropped catches.

  20. Eng 201-3published at 41 overs

Just a single from Holder's over, Brook again nudging one down to point.
