Things are going well for West Indies. They'll be pleased with this performance today.

Just look at the concentration on the face of Brydon Carse here. He's got the badge in too...

Gus has swooped in with a good shout. Yashasvi Jaiswal would be a serious contender but he doesn't get in India's T20 team.

Jacob Bethell is back on and Carty has the strike...

KL Rahul is the ultimate all format player especially with his recent form and ability to score runs in different conditions.

    Careful there, Keacy.

West Indies' number three swishes at one that bounces from Matthew Potts and now is going to have to stew on it as he sits on the brink of a fourth ODI century at drinks.

Keacy Carty has played a nice, controlled innings. He's played with great control. It's leaving Harry Brook chasing his tail as he goes for wickets.

Brook has been inventive and I like that he's hunting wickets and not playing conventionally.

It's about working out what works for him and his bowlers.

Shubman Gill wasn't picked in India's most recent T20 series. I'm not sure he counts, Kaden, as good as he is.

We need some rules making up for this game. I think we're talking the very best batter that plays in all three formats.

Re Jay @ 13:15 - Wouldn’t put Duckett up there. For me it’s Shubman Gill pure class in each format. It would be Head if he could be more consistent but for me Shubman Gill with KL Rahul just behind him.

  9. WI 179-2published at 31 overs

    Carty 95, Hope 17

"Catch!" yelps Saqib Mahmood as Keacy Carty drills a pull shot.

It's not too far away from Jacob Bethell who is lurking at a short-ish mid-wicket but the youngster cannot get across and Carty gets four to move to 95.

You'd see 350 as an absolute minimum West Indies would want now. That would be doubling their score from 30 overs but they could add a few runs on.

  11. WI 171-2published at 30 overs

Jav poses a good question. Harry Brook would be in with a shout too.

30 overs gone. Doubling the score from here, as the old saying goes, would set a tasty target.

Who is the best all-format batsman? For me, it’s Travis Head but Duckett is certainly not far off.

The dashing Mahmood's return does end the short-ball barrage. He's aiming for the top of the stumps over and over again.

It's a good comeback too. Just one run from the over. When does Keacy Carty get twitchy?

I'll never understand England's obsession with the short ball. It's not a surprise if the batsman knows all six balls will be short.

Saqib Mahmood has been one of the fielders guilty of the missed chances today. Can he make up for it with the ball?

Saqib Mahmood is back. He has four overs left to bowl so it'll be a two-over spell here, I reckon.

  17. WI 167-2published at 28 overs

    Carty 87, Hope 13

Adil Rashid dots up through his fifth over before Shai Hope plays a slashing drive to the final delivery. It's superbly timed and perfectly paced, beating Harry Brook in the 30-yard circle and splitting the two fielders on the boundary in the deep.

Harry Brook is always going to hunt and chase wickets and he's never going to have those stalemate passages in an innings.

This is a plan that is currently not working. It's an attacking field to get someone caught in the deep but now it's a very eccentric field.

It's a strange field and Brydon Carse is bound to bowl bouncers to get someone caught out, but it could see England sacrifice a lot of runs.

  20. WI 157-2published at 27 overs

Remember England are going with an extra batting all-rounder in this XI in Will Jacks at number seven. It's why there are only three pace bowling options in the team. Batting should be their strength.

Brydon Carse continues with that bouncer ploy and it continues to leak runs as Keacy Carty gets one edgily down to fine leg for four.
