More from Jacob Bethell, on his call-up to the Test squad: "I am not thinking too much about it, we have one more ODI and a T20 series.

"I am looking forward to it massively, Test cricket has always been my dream, to have a chance to play in New Zealand is unbelievable but we have a series to win here first so we'll focus on that."

On playing in Barbados: "My whole family will come to watch, it will mean everything to me. To have a packed house at Kensington will be unbelievable."

Jacob Bethell speaking to TNT Sports: "It was nice to get a start, a little disappointing to get out how I did, I'd have liked to be there with Livvy at the end but it was a lovely feeling.

"It is hugely important coming off a series against Australia when we thought we were building towards something special, to go one down was tough but coming back to level gives us a lot of confidence.

"Livvy put the pressure back on them, that meant I didn't have to go looking for anything."

  4. 'We need to be more disciplined'published at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

West Indies captain Shai Hope: "I thought it was a decent score with the conditions, I thought it was enough but obviously it wasn't in this case.

"We need to be more disciplined, in that first game we showed when we hit our straps, things happen., We didn't execute well today.

"We gave them a lot of easy options to score and when you playing cricket like this, guys will capitalise.

"I thought our batters played really well, great to see Keacy getting more consistent. We're happy with the batting at this point."

Jacob's knock was crucial, the way he was able to work it around the ground is a sign of a really good player.

Bethell look so unflustered and unhurried, that is why he has been pushed quickly for international selection. The hierarchy really like him because of that ability to score quickly without changing his tempos, that was a real glimpse of Jacob Bethell today.

Well played to Livvy, he paced it really well. That partnership with Curran was what they needed.

  9. 'Livingstone delivers under pressure'published at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Sir Alastair Cook

Delivering under pressure and scrutiny. Everyone is waiting for Brendon McCullum to come in and everyone wants to be part of that. He [Livingstone] will be really satisfied that, under pressure, he delivered. Today he has finished the job for the first time. He is such a dangerous player, it is hard to bowl at him at times.

You have seen a change in his determination - he was never getting out there.

  10. 'I tried to get myself going'published at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

England captain and player of the match Liam Livingstone: "Certain things that I've done in practice, I feel like I was getting back to my best. Just maturing, knowing my game and enjoying my cricket - if I'm doing that I know I'm playing pretty well.

"I tried to get myself going, then knew we could wait until the end and target their death bowling. That's how Sammy and I wanted to play and it worked perfectly in the end.

"Sam Curran played beautifully, he hit his second ball for six and he was off and away. I've played a lot of cricket with him, I know I can trust him at that end.

"We need somebody in our top six for someone to go on and get a big score. I thought we were good with the ball as well, overall a pretty decent performance and back in the series.

"We've got a lot of young boys still learning the ropes of international cricket. Hopefully that'll boost their confidence and do them a world of good."

Mike: At some point you have to trust the talents and give them a chance to prove themselves. A new generation starts its journey. It's good management to trust them to make mistakes and learn along the way.

    Sir Alastair Cook

Fair play to him, he was under scrutiny and pressure after Thursday's game. When, as a captain with the next opportunity you deliver the goods, that will do wonders for him.

That was a coming-of-age knock for him. That was up and down the gears, playing the situation and to be there at the end was wonderful for him. That was freakish playing at the end.

Keith Martin: I always thought Livingstone was over-rated. Shows how little I know!

Anon: Liam Livingstone has just proved he's been totally mismanaged throughout his career - he was actually the next KP and not some lower-order happy-go-lucky slogger.

There have been 10 ODI centuries by England (men's) captains in winning chases. 2024 is the first year where we've seen two, after Harry Brook's at Durham in September.

Shai Hope makes a century and leaves on the losing side. For Liam Livingstone, he shows he is more than a great shot maker. It was an excellent, excellent run chase. What a moment, leading your country, making your first international century and winning in the process.

  16. England win by five wicketspublished at 47.3 overs

Is this it... no, knocked back to bowler.

    Next ball... that's that!

Livingstone crowns a superb innings by hitting the winning run, a quick tap and run to mid-off.

With England looking like they were dropping behind the rate, Livingstone accelerated in remarkable fashion, helping his side score 100 runs in 7.3 overs to win the match at a gallop.

He finishes unbeaten on 124 from 85 balls - he was on 46 from 57 at the 40-over mark.

  17. Eng 328-5published at 47.1 overs

    1 needed from 17 balls

Mousley knocks Forde to mid-wicket to bring Livingstone back on strike.

The captain will rightly get the chance to finish the job.

  18. Eng 327-5published at 47 overs

    2 needed from 18 balls

Joseph manages a dot ball with his fifth delivery, but Livingstone smokes his final effort back down the ground for four.

The West Indies seamer did well to get out of the way, it could have done some serious damage.

Joseph finishes with figures of 1-72, a brutal 24 runs coming from his final over.

22 of those go to the England skipper, who is now on 123 from 83 with five fours and a remarkable nine sixes.

And remember - he'd scored just one of each prior to the boundary that brought up his 50.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 323-5published at 46.4 overs

    6 needed from 20 balls

Joseph sends down a wide, one more off the total.

Back to the sixes when he bowls a legitimate one, just over the fielder parked on the long-on boundary.

    Remarkable stuff.

William M, Hertfordshire: This is why Livingstone is so valuable for this England side. He can bowl and field as well, and can win games for England, when he gets a chance to get himself in, before going big!
