  1. Eng 250-4published at 42 overs

79 runs needed from 88 balls

Enough of that, says Roston Chase.

England can't get him over the ropes, taking seven from some singles and a Curran two that's cut off at deep cover.

The last of those singles brings up England's 250, and marks the end of Roston Chase's day - he finishes with figures of 1-53 from his ten overs.

They need to get a lot closer, the job is not done, 50 and out does not win games. These two are the most experienced in an inexperienced side.

Livingstone shifting gears at the end of that Motie over. It’s been a curious innings from Livingstone. He began frantically before shifting into a more watchful mode, but now is the time to go big.

  4. 6 runs

50 for Liam Liam Livingstonepublished at 41 overs

    Eng 243-4; 86 needed from 94 balls

    Livingstone finally reaches 50!

He does it in some style too, advancing down the pitch to loft Motie's penultimate ball for four over long-on, bringing up his landmark from 60 deliveries.

Then for good measure he wallops the following ball for a massive six over square!

England will need plenty of this type of hitting - a reminder that towards the end of the West Indies innings, Sherfane Rutherford scored 54 from 36, Shimron Hetmyer took 24 from 11 and Matthew Forde struck 23 from 11.

Strike rates of over 200 for the latter two, just over 150 for Rutherford.

  5. Eng 229-4published at 40 overs

    100 needed from 60 balls

Chase... wait for it... three singles!

10 overs left, 100 runs needed - I've done some complicated maths and I reckon that's exactly a required run-rate of exactly 10 an over.

Livingstone and Curran have done well to keep things ticking over, but with only six boundaries between them in 91 balls they’re going to have to up the tempo very soon, you would think.

  7. WI 226-4published at 39 overs

Shamar Joseph wangs down a delivery that is judged to be off the cut strip, conceding a wide, but the rest of the over is alright with just four more singles coming off the bat.

As we close in on the final ten overs, England need to kick-on.

  8. Eng 221-4published at 38 overs

Chase. Three singles. An inaccurate literary reference.

    You get the drill.

No boundaries in the last three overs, and 10 of the last 12. Livingstone has 42 from 50 balls, while Curran, after a brisk start, is on 36 from 34 deliveries.

  9. Eng 218-4published at 37 overs

Shamar Joseph back into the attack.

Livingstone drives him into the covers in search of a boundary but the ball is stopped well by Brandon King.

The England captain hasn't found the boundary since his six early in the 23rd over - he's on an uncharacteristic 41 from 47.

  10. Eng 213-4published at 36 overs

Chase oversteps, which is pretty unforgivable for a spinner.

Curran plays on from the subsequent free hit and they take two as the ball runs away to fine leg.

West Indies remain favourites according to WinViz.

Anon: Erm, that's Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Sonnet 43, not Shakespeare's.

Oh, well, there goes my English degree. And yet, weirdly, I did get the number right. Call it a half score.

This has actually been a very controlled partnership so far for England. After seven overs, their false shot percentage is just 5% - extremely low. Two T20 specialists have brought a bit of stability, but they need to kick on soon.

  13. Eng 205-6published at 35 overs

    There's a boundary!

    Two of them in fact.

Curran breaks the dam, smacking a first four in 34 balls by cracking Seales through mid-wicket.

He gets another from the following delivery, punching the ball through the covers and bringing up England's 200 in the process.

  14. Eng 193-4published at 34 overs

    Who remembers Shakespeare's Sonnet 43?

"How can I describe a Roston Chase? Let me count the ways."

    Actually, there aren't that many.

    Five singles from this one.

  16. WI 188-4published at 33 overs

Jayden Seales come into the attack but England can't take advantage of the pace on the ball and it remains a singles-fest.

No boundaries in the last four overs, and six of the last seven.

Time for the players to take drinks, and for me to tentatively open the bottle of pop I dropped on the way out of the supermarket earlier.

  17. Eng 185-4published at 32 overs

Chase follows up with a parsimonious over of his own, three singles in this one.

That's 10 runs from the last three overs, and the required run-rate has just crept beyond eight an over.

After a flurry of boundaries and violent intent, Livingstone and Curran have settled into a more sedate rhythm. Signs perhaps that they’re looking to take this deep.

I sense your tongue is placed firmly in your cheek, Nick...

Anyway, having conceded 15 from his last over, Motie tightens back up, conceding four singles from this one.

Quite frankly, I can't understand the hype of Mr Hope. Yes he can keep, yes he can bat… but can he bowl? He wouldn't get a look-in in the current England team.
