  1. WI 97-2published at 22 overs

Sam Curran fields a hoick from Shai Hope on the point boundary - it feels like that's the first time we've seen him so far.

Keacy Carty then looks to get on with things a bit, cutting Livingstone to the rope, then lifting him high over the covers for two more before a drive along the ground for another two.

Livingstone responds well with a leg-break that just eludes Carty's top edge.

Keacy Carty is in danger of getting stuck here against the spinners. He has to find a way of rotating the strike.

Look, when it comes to Salt and Pepper references, I'm not going to push it.

    See what I did there?

  5. WI 85-2published at 20 overs

Ouch! Umpire Gregory Brathwaite wears a throw from the covers on his calf, that's gotta hurt.

Phil Salt then repeats the "I'm smashing the off stump down" routine with some neat glovework, and it's another quiet over Liam Livingstone.

  6. WI 82-2published at 19 overs

Michael Pepper is on as a substitute, chasing a push from Carty that brings the batter the only runs of the over.

Pepper throws to Salt - there you go, I've got the 'Salt and Pepper' reference in....

  7. WI 80-2published at 18 overs

Liam Livingstone turns one away past Keacy Carty's outside edge, with Phil Salt theatrically demolishing the off stump even though the batter is in his ground. Carty manages a single off the next, the only run from the England captain's second over.

There’s a really stiff breeze blowing across the ground, and Rashid looks to be struggling with it a touch. Had to go flatter after failing to control the fuller balls earlier in the over.

Shai Hope's got an excellent record against Adil Rashid. They've played six matches against each other, and Rashid has dismissed him only once. Overall, Hope's scored 63 from 69 deliveries from Rashid.

  10. WI 79-2published at 17 overs

Adil Rashid reappears from the other end, can he get a bit more - or any - turn from there?

There's a little bit and he keeps it tight for just three from the over, before the players and umpires take a break for drinks.

Livingstone slightly got away with that over. His length was generally very full but the batters failed to capitalise.

  12. WI 76-2published at 16 overs

Liam Livingstone brings himself on to replace Adil Rashid, and he still has Curran, Bethell, Mousley and even Jacks up his sleeve for bowling options.

It's a decent start from the Cumbrian and he concedes just four.

Rashid is replaced by Livingstone after a spell that was characterised by the almost complete absence of turn.

Shai Hope of West Indies hits a boundaryImage source, Getty Images

Shai Hope, despite averaging almost 50 in ODI cricket, hasn't hit a half-century for the West Indies in this format since December 2023, also against England and also on this ground!

  15. WI 69-2published at 14.2 overs

Shai Hope unveils his on drive again, punching Saqib Mahmood back between Carty and the umpire for four more.

The skipper's dragging this one back after a slow start. Patience, youngling, patience...

  16. WI 64-2published at 14 overs

Adil Rashid is unfazed by Hope's attack, and he deceives Keacy Carty with a googly that goes between bat and pad and into Phil Salt's gloves. It was not that close to the stumps, but it's still a nice piece of bowling.

  17. 6 runs

    WI 60-2published at 12.2 overs

    Er, like I was saying...

Shai Hope plonks a foot down the pitch and lifts Adil Rashid a long way over the rope behind cover for another lovely six.

England clearly targeting Hope with the ball that comes back in. He tends to fall over and bring close mid-wicket into play.

Another tight over from Saqib Mahmood where he concedes just two to apply the brakes to the West Indies' innings.

  20. 50 runs

    WI 50-2published at 11.2 overs

John Turner is rested, which means we see Adil Rashid for the first time.

Keacy Carty nurdles him away off his legs from the first of the over, then Shai Hope lifts him high over cover for two off the second - they look keen to get into the leg-spinner and not let him settle.
