Finlay Bean propped forward and didn't get to it and those red bails that we've got this year are scattered on the floor.

And this is just the second duck of Finlay Bean's career.

A first game of the season for Durham and they have the ball at Edgbaston after winning the toss.

Matthew Potts concedes a boundary to Rob Yates off the first over.

Now it is Australia seamer Scott Boland to share opening duties on his Durham debut.

And his first ball in county cricket is driven nicely for four by Alex Davies.

    Essex 1-1 v Kent

Essex chose to bat at Chelmsford but they've lost Feroze Khushi fifth ball.

Wes Agar with the wicket and a perfect start for Kent.

A golden duck for Khushi as he shoulders arms and sees the ball jag back into middle and off.

    Glos v Yorks 1-1

What a start for the Glosters having won the toss.

Third ball of the match Yorkshireman Josh Shaw cleans up Yorkshireman Finlay Bean.

Harry Brook with his pads on already, waiting to come in at 5 with Joe Root next man in.

Surrey began the season with a rain-affected draw against Lancashire with over 300 overs lost to rain at Emirates Old Trafford.

As if to emphasise the strength in their ranks, they welcome back England bowler Gus Atkinson into the team.

But don't forget Ollie Pope, Ben Foakes and other players with Test caps - Rory Burns, Dom Sibley, Dan Lawrence, Jamie Overton, and West Indies quick Kemar Roach.

No wonder they are favourites to make it three titles in a row!

News from Chelmsford where Joey Evison has got injured in the warm-ups and has been ruled out of the match.

His place will be taken by 18-year-old Jaydn Denly for his first-class debut. Jaydn is the nephew of Kent batter and former England player Joe - 20 years his senior - a centurion in the draw with Somerset.

  7. Brook and Root play for Yorkshirepublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 12 April

    Gloucestershire v Yorkshire (11:00 BST)

This time 12 months ago, the Westcountry weather washed out this fixture without a ball bowled.

But a year on and it's dry enough in Bristol where Gloucestershire have won the toss and have decided to field.

Which means we could see two of England's finest on the opening day with both Harry Brook and Joe Root playing for Yorkshire.

Brook made a sparkling century on his return last week against Leicestershire.

Root is making his seasonal bow and Yorkshire could see more of him than usual in these early rounds with England's first Test of the summer not until July.

By virtue of being the only team to win in round one, Essex are top of the league.

Sam Cook's brilliance with the ball (10-73) at Trent Bridge was the prime reason for their 254-run victory and underlined his Test credentials once again.

Now it's back to Chelmsford for a meeting with Kent, aptly named Battle of the Bridge.

Kent drew with Somerset last week, but will have to acquaint themselves with the new ends at the County Ground, named after Essex legends Graham Gooch and Sir Alastair Cook.

  10. Pitch inspection at 11:00BSTpublished at 10:47 British Summer Time 12 April

    Glamorgan v Derbyshire

It looks like we are going to start on time in eight of our nine matches, but it is bad luck once again for Derbyshire!

After a wash-out in Derby, their match to Glamorgan will not start on time due to a wet outfield at Sophia Gardens.

There will be a pitch inspection at 11:00 BST.

It's round two of the County Championship with all 18 counties in action.

But let's hope there is plenty of cricket to enjoy for followers of Derbyshire, Durham, Gloucestershire and Hampshire after they were all washed out in round one.

We are still in the first half of April, so optimism should still abound.

Plus, we've got some big names to hopefully entertain us after the efforts of the two Sams, Northeast and Cook, in round one.

    Glad you could join us!
