These are runs that England can ill afford to give away at this stage of the innings! This is a really valuable flourish for Australia.

  3. Aus 274-6published at 47.2 overs

Hardie continues the acceleration, hitting the first two balls of Matty Potts' over for four.

A misfield sees his first shot reach the ropes, then he follows up with a swivel pull to the boundary at backward square.

He's now on 31 from 21, having hit 20 from his last six balls.

That is a big hit from Aaron Hardie which uses all of the strength!

  5. 6 runs

    Aus 266-6published at 47 overs

Now a six for Aaron Hardie!

He lifts Archer's penultimate ball over the backward square boundary, then takes a single from the following delivery to retain the strike.

17 from the over, not a happy return for Archer.

  6. Aus 258-4published at 46.3 overs

2, 3, 4 off the returning Jofra Archer.

A Hardie two to square leg brings up the Australia 250, he then fires a shot down the ground for the three, before Carey fires a four past mid-on.

  7. Aus 249-6published at 46 overs

Brook persists with Livingstone for a third over, and is rewarded with just five singles coming off his bowling.

England still have three overs of Matty Potts and two overs of Jofra Archer left - we won't get all of those now.

  9. Aus 244-6published at 45 overs

Alex Carey does his best to spoil Adil Rashid's figures, powerfully lashing the England spinner through mid-wicket for four.

The final two balls of the over go for singles and that's Rashid finished - he's gone for 0-56, with 21 of those runs coming from his first three overs.

Five overs left in this innings - Australia scored 44 from their last five, what can they get from the next 30 balls?

It's been an exceptional comeback from Alex Carey. Dropped from the Australia squad in October last year, he's been out of this side for almost a year but come back in due to a minor injury to Josh Inglis. He's made a match-winning innings in the last match and now a 50 here!

Glenn Maxwell's gone and the gamble's worked! Maxwell didn't hit it as square as he was planning to, but dragged it a bit, hit it out to square and the catch is taken!

Maxwell slogs to Carse at cover!

Was that a plan? Lure out some indiscipline with some part-time bowling? Either way, it's worked.

Livingstone delivers a full toss that Maxwell elaborately reverse sweeps to four at the point boundary, but he mistimes the following delivery, firing the ball straight at Carse who takes a catch just above the ground.

    England have their man.

I am surprised Liam Livingstone has come on now! When you haven't bowled this long, it's difficult. But I think Harry Brook thinks it's worth a gamble.

Imtheparrot: On the subject of castle cricket grounds. Balmoral is the long time home of Crathie CC and, on the odd occasion, one or two royals. I can remember playing there many years ago and there were enough corgis strolling along on the roadside boundary for a Second XI.

Brydon Carse would be annoyed by that. That is not the way he would have wanted to end his spell. But there's been plenty of positives in there from Carse in front of a home crowd full of support for his efforts!
