  1. WICKET: Hose c & b Harrison 33published at 17:20 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 155-4

Calvin Harrison makes the breakthrough for Nottinghamshire!

The leg-spinner unnerves Adam Hose with a ball that turns and takes a leading edged but loops to safety.

Hose then takes a wild swing at Harrison's next delivery and skies it completely, giving the bowler a straightforward return catch.

Notts needed that and Worcestershire captain Brett D'Oliveira has a job to do as he strides to the middle.

  2. 50 partnershippublished at 17:16 13 April

    Hampshire 367 v Lancashire 176-2

It has not been especially rapid but a George Balderson steer to deep third is the 50th run of this partnership.

Balderson is on 23 as he offers good support to Keaton Jennings on 57.

  3. Yorkshire get first-innings leadpublished at 17:15 13 April

Yorkshire have bowled Gloucestershire out for 263 in Bristol for a first-innings lead of 63. Ben Coad and Matt Fisher took three wickets apiece.

They're off for rain in Cardiff, where Glamorgan had struggled to 38-2 in their second innings against Derbyshire. Spinner Alex Thomson did the damage again taking both wickets to add to his seven first time around.

Sussex are still looking strong against Leicestershire on 231-4. Cheteshwar Pujara has 25 and they trail by 107.

Life continues to be difficult for the bowlers at Northants - Middlesex are 74-1 replying to the hosts' 552-6 declared.

  4. 'The skies are brightening'published at 17:12 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 148-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

The skies are brightening all the time here, first sign of any blue sky today.

Nottinghamshire could do with picking up a couple of wickets but it's not been a bad day.

The Kookaburra ball has gone soft and the wicket is not offering a great deal for the bowlers.

It's tough work for everybody out there and the run scoring is fairly pedestrian.

  5. 'Kent continue to bat comfortably against Essex'published at 17:12 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 186-1

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

Zzzzzzzz – difficult not to enjoy the sun a little too much here and catch a nap as Kent continue to bat comfortably against Essex.

Tom Westley has gone through his bowling options but neither attack will be sad to see the end of this strip or the Kookaburra ball.

Credit to Compton and Bell-Drummond for not giving a sniff in this final session and credit to those who have not taken the chance to have 40 winks.

  6. Postpublished at 17:10 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 185-1

Shane Snater is back into the Essex attack - and almost makes the breakthrough with a ball that jags back at Daniel Bell-Drummond and hits him at the top of the pad.

Bell-Drummond appears to be saved by an inside edge, with the umpire unruffled by Snater's impassioned appeal. Still no joy for the home side as they try to break this partnership, now standing at 158.

  7. Century for Bell-Drummondpublished at 17:06 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 178-1

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

Back-to-back centuries for the Kent skipper to start the season.

He has looked nerveless and after leading his team well in the field he has once again led by example with the bat.

  8. WICKET Bedingham c Mousley b Yates 49published at 17:04 13 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 139-3

Warwickshire have been plugging away and they have a wicket.

David Bedingham is mortified as he flicks one from Rob Yates straight to the man at short midwicket.

The South Africa player knows that he has given it away there to end a stand of 94 with Alex Lees.

  9. Close!published at 16:59 13 April

    Hampshire 367 v Lancashire 157-2

Liam Dawson with a terrific delivery to George Balderson as the left-armer spinner turns on from outside off.

Balderson elects to leave and it does not miss the stumps by much.

  10. 100 for Daniel Bell-Drummondpublished at 16:58 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 178-1

Daniel Bell-Drummond (Kent)Image source, Rex Features

Great knock by Daniel Bell-Drummond - and that's two centuries in two matches for the Kent skipper!

This one comes from 168 balls as Bell-Drummond steers Aaron Beard through point for four and then picks up three in the same area from the next delivery.

Kent are still trailing by 352, but they really haven't looked in any difficulty on a surface that's offering very little help to the bowlers.

  11. 300 up for Surreypublished at 16:58 13 April

    Surrey 303-5 v Somerset 285

Cameron Steel with a terrific back-foot cut shot off Kasey Aldridge and those four runs take the Surrey score past 300.

It is a second batting point for the Champions and they will be looking for more.

  12. 'Leicestershire have bowled really well'published at 16:57 13 April

    Leics 338 v Sussex 221-4

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Leicestershire have bowled really well since Tom Alsop was out.

Sussex were rattling along at around four an over but since then have scored just 51 in the last 22 overs

A combination of well set fields and bowlers bowling to the field has handed the initiative back to Leicestershire.

  13. 'Umpires having a chat'published at 16:54 13 April

    Northants 552-6 dec v Middlesex 59-1

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

The umpires are having a chat and they may be thinking about the lights.

The sun tries to come out but it is starting to get a little low, there's a lot of quite low grey cloud now coming over Wantage Road.

We may see the lights on pretty soon.

  14. 50 for Rob Jonespublished at 16:50 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 117-3

Rob Jones (Worcs)Image source, Rex Features

Rob Jones has batted very tidily this afternoon and he's been rewarded with a first half-century of the season.

Jones cuts Luke Fletcher to the fence at third man to get to 50 from 105 deliveries - the ninth of his first-class career.

Adam Hose has looked assured at the other end so far, reaching 19 and Worcestershire trail by 282.

  15. 50 for Keaton Jenningspublished at 16:47 13 April

    Hampshire 367 v Lancashire 151-2

A good contest between Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings and Kyle Abbott.

Jennings walks down the pitch and is beaten by a ball that moves off the seam.

The next ball goes bat the pitch, too, but Jennings was playing inside the line.

In the next over, Mohammad Abbas offers a bit of width and Jennings needs no invitation as he lashes it through offside for four.

It has taken him 122 balls. but the value of his wicket to Lancashire is very, very high.

  16. 'Somerset stay in the game'published at 16:46 13 April

    Surrey 291-5 v Somerset 285

    Roland Butcher
Former Middlesex and England batter on BBC Radio London

So, Somerset stay in the game, they've only got five wickets but they are still very much in the game.

  17. Postpublished at 16:44 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 158-1

Essex are really rattling through their overs post-tea, with Simon Harmer and Matt Critchley operating in tandem.

Neither of the spin duo are having a great deal of luck at the moment, with Harmer finding the edge of Ben Compton's bat only for the ball to fall short of slip.

Compton has emerged from his shell to reach 65, while Daniel Bell-Drummond is into the 80s now.

  18. 'I was expecting to see a little bit more movement'published at 16:41 13 April

    Gloucs 241-9 v Yorkshire 326

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol

I was expecting to see a little bit more movement with the new ball.

I know the floodlights because these are LED ones, there's this debate that goes on about the floodlights make a difference to the ball moving which I don't really buy.

Usually I think it's more because the floodlights are on because it's gloomy, it's cloudy and often being in the summer it's feeling quite humid and this means the ball is more likely to swing than not.

These conditions I would have thought you might have got something with this new ball swing-wise.

  19. WICKET Lawrence lbw b Aldridge 6published at 16:38 13 April

    Surrey 291-5 v Somerset 285

A second wicket since tea for Somerset as they keep chipping away.

Dan Lawrence's first innings for Surrey since his move from Essex is not a successful one as he is pinned on the crease by Kasey Aldridge.

The champions lead by six, five wickets remaining.

  20. 100 up for Pearspublished at 16:37 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 102-3

Worcestershire's total advances to three figures after tea, courtesy of a Rob Jones sweep for four off Calvin Harrison.

Jones is five short of a half-century now, with Adam Hose alongside him on eight as the visitors reply to that Nottinghamshire total of 399.
