  1. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:51 13 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 90-2

Time for a cuppa and maybe some cake at Edgbaston.

Two quick wickets for Warwickshire after their huge declaration has them way ahead in the game.

Alex Lees has 53 and he and David Bedingham have added 45. They probably have to score at least another 200 in this partnership.

  2. WICKET Bohannon b Fuller 30published at 15:48 13 April

    Hampshire 367 v Lancashire 125-2

    This is a big wicket.

The extra zip of James Fuller does the trick as Josh Bohannon goes back to cut but he is a bit cramped and the bottom edge knocks one of the stumps out of the ground.

  3. 'Afternoon session belongs to Kent'published at 15:48 13 April

    Tea: Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 117-1

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

It is fair to say it has not exactly been electrifying stuff but the afternoon session belongs to Kent.

They offered just one chance with Cox letting go of a sharp chance given by Compton off the bowling of Simon Harmer.

Other than that the surface is not helping the bowlers and as Dean Elgar said at the close of play last night, if you get past the opening 10 or 12 overs you do not have to work too hard to score runs, just keep your concentration.

It is difficult to see a positive result for either side at this stage.

  4. Tea at The Kia Ovalpublished at 15:46 13 April

    Surrey 263-3 v Somerset 285

Well done Somerset, we get an extra over before tea due to their fast over rate!

It means they will have a red ball at their disposal straight after tea.

Jamie Smith plays out a maiden to Shoaib Bashir as he goes for a cuppa on 47 with Ben Foakes offering good support on 18.

Dom Sibley's 100 has set the platform for a big Surrey total if they can push on in the middle and lower order.

  5. WICKET: Kashif Ali c Haynes b Pennington 40published at 15:45 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 82-3

It's Dillon Pennington who comes out on top in that duel with Kashif Ali that we mentioned!

Pennington's policy of bowling short pays dividends as Kashif takes a swing and slices it high behind square on the off side, with Jack Haynes running in to take a well-judged catch.

Notts needed that wicket to break the partnership of 78 as Adam Hose emerges to join Rob Jones, with Worcestershire still 317 behind their hosts.

  6. 50 for Alex Leespublished at 15:44 13 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 80-2

Alex Lees pushes a Danny Briggs delivery into the onside and gets through for the single he needs for his 50.

Lees scored 1,347 runs last year as Durham won Division Two with five hundreds and he has made a good start to this campaign.

In the context of the game, though, he needs a whole heap more.

  7. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:40 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 117-1

Kent will be delighted at the way this afternoon session has gone, with Daniel Bell-Drummond and Ben Compton batting through it unscathed.

Bell-Drummond has advanced to 63 not out, while Compton has dug in to play a typically gritty innings and goes to tea seven short of his half-century.

The only chance of the session came when Compton cut Simon Harmer, but former Kent man Jordan Cox was unable to hang on in the slips.

  8. 'This has gone south for Derbyshire'published at 15:39 13 April

    Glamorgan 237 v Derbyshire 180-9

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

This has gone south very quickly for Derbyshire.

It's some collapse from 146-4. They're still 57 in arrears.

  9. 'Ackermann claimed that he didn't hit the ball'published at 15:35 13 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 68-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham are in a spot of bother here.

Colin Ackermann looked stunned to be given out, he's claimed that he didn't hit the ball.

He suggested that he played his bat onto his foot and not the ball.

  10. First Surrey batting pointpublished at 15:34 13 April

    Surrey 252-3 v Somerset 285

Somerset, to their credit, are battling hard this afternoon with Shoaib Bashir and part-time spinner Lewis Goldsworthy keeping it tight.

But a rank half-tracker from Goldsworthy gets what it deserves from Jamie Smith and that four moves Surrey over 250.

It is their first batting point of 2024 following their washout at Lancashire in round one.

  11. Postpublished at 15:32 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 71-2

Interesting duel developing between Kashif Ali and Dillon Pennington.

The seamer is going around the wicket and dropping it short, with Kashif aiming a tennis-style swat at one of those bouncers and then swiping at another and top-edging it over the wicketkeeper for four.

Kashif has moved along to 35, with Rob Jones on 31 as the Pears maintain their recovery after losing both openers inside the first two overs.

  12. 'Two big strikes for Warwickshire'published at 15:31 13 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 64-2

    Phil Britt
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire

Two big strikes there in consecutive overs for Warwickshire.

Those two wickets have really put the pressure on Durham.

  13. Postpublished at 15:25 13 April

    Surrey 244-3 v Somerset 285

    BOOM!

Lewis Gregory drops short and Jamie Smith is happy to take it on. The end result is a maximum, as it sails out to mid-wicket.

A second of the innings for the threatening Surrey number four.

  14. 50 up for Durhampublished at 15:23 13 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 50-2

Durham need a huge partnership between Alex Lees and David Bedingham.

The South Africa batter gets a single to bring up the 50.

The scary news is that they still require 499 to avoid the follow-on!

  15. 50 for Daniel Bell-Drummondpublished at 15:23 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 95-1

Daniel Bell-Drummond (Kent)Image source, Rex Features

Daniel Bell-Drummond has played so many valuable innings when Kent have needed them and this might just turn into another in that category.

Bell-Drummond has just reached his half-century from 99 balls, steering Aaron Beard away for a couple to build on his hundred against Somerset last week.

  16. 50 partnershippublished at 15:21 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 56-2

Kashif Ali's been in good nick so far this season and he's just carved Dillon Pennington over the slips for four to bring up the 50 partnership with Rob Jones.

Despite that, this has been an impressive spell by Pennington against his former county.

The Nottinghamshire paceman has bowled consistently in his eight overs, conceding just 18 runs and picking up the wicket of Jake Libby.

  17. 'The lacquer on the Kookaburra doesn't last long'published at 15:20 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs 53-2

    Jim Dale
    BBC Hereford and Worcester

The lacquer on the Kookaburra ball doesn't last long, you've got about six to eight overs before you lose life in it.

  18. 'Haines is playing with supreme confidence'published at 15:20 13 April

    Leics 338 v Sussex 183-3

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A second hundred of the season for Tom Haines which almost had an air of inevitability from the moment he walked to the crease.

Haines is playing with supreme confidence, timing the ball beautifully, and benefiting from a ECB batting camp in India over the winter.

That being said he’ll be disappointed to be out to a loose shot, top edging a hook to be caught at mid off.

Matt Salisbury has been the pick of the home attack, bowling an excellent line and length and fully deserving his two wickets.

  19. Three wickets for two countiespublished at 15:19 13 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 45-2

That wicket was notable for Craig Miles as he now has three wickets this season for two counties.

He played last week for Glamorgan at Lord's, picking up a couple in Middlesex's mammoth 655.

But Warwickshire recalled him from his loan and put him straight back into the side and he is in the wickets for the Bears.

  20. Division Two latestpublished at 15:17 13 April

James Sales celebrates scoring a centuryImage source, Getty Images

Northants have declared on a mammoth 552-6 against Middlesex - Emilio Gay leading the way with 261.

James Sales also made an unbeaten 113 - his maiden first-class century.

Middlesex have just got their first innings under way.

Yorkshire have picked up the big wicket of Gloucestershire opener Cameron Bancroft for 70. The Australian skied Dan Moriarty to Joe Root at deep mid-off to leave his side 157-5.

There's still little between the two sides in Cardiff where Derbyshire are 170-6 replying to Glamorgan's first-innings 237.

Leicestershire have picked up a couple of Sussex wickets, including Tom Haines for 108, with the visitors now on 184-3. They trail by 154.
