  1. 'Vital wickets mean Worcestershire are still in this'published at 13:43 British Summer Time 13 April

Lunch: Notts 399 all out v Worcs

    Jim Dale
    BBC Hereford and Worcester

First and foremost that is an absolute heartbreaker for Lyndon James [out for 96], he absolutely deserved a century. It was quite an unfortunate and ugly way to get out.

With 384-6 and Nottinghamshire in control, Worcestershire with the two spinners in mid-April managed to stop the runs and then took some vital wickets as well and it just means that they are still in this game.

    It's an intriguing contest.

  2. Postpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 13 April

Games are beginning to start again after lunch.

They'll get going in about 10 minutes at Trent Bridge after Worcestershire were left waiting to bowl Notts out.

Still no sign of a Warwickshire declaration - they resume on 662-3 against Durham...

  3. 'Somerset are looking down the barrel'published at 13:37 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lunch: Surrey 155-0 v Somerset 285

Exactly the sort of morning that Somerset followers would have been dreading, as Rory Burns and Dom Sibley added 113 largely untroubled runs.

I say largely, because Burns was badly missed on the deep square leg boundary by Tom Banton, but that was a solitary aberration.

Shoaib Bashir has been in action against the county that rejected him as a 17 year old, and looks a much better bowler for his time with England. But even so, on a placid pitch, Somerset are looking down the barrel of a big first innings deficit.

  4. Bears reach second highest scorepublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lunch: Warwickshire 662-3 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I can't see any reason for Warwickshire to continue batting here, unless they want to beat their record score of 810-4, set on this ground 30 years ago, against Durham.

Their total in this game is now their second highest in first-class cricket. After Rob Yates made 191 yesterday, Alex Davies followed him with 256 today, while Will Rhodes has 154.

And spare a thought for Durham debutant Callum Parkinson. The left-arm spinner has become the first bowler at the club to concede more than 200 runs in an innings!

He has taken 2-206 in 40 overs and has really taken one for the team. I have looked through a very long list of the most expensive bowling in first-class cricket and I think that is the 37th time someone has gone for more than 200 in county cricket.

  5. 'A very good morning for Sussex'published at 13:35 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lunch: Leics 338 v Sussex 98-1

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A very good morning for Sussex recovering from the loss of Tom Clark to the first ball of the innings to reach lunch in a strong position.

Tom Haines looks in terrific form reaching a half century including seven beautifully timed boundaries.

Tom Alsop has provided solid support although he was dropped by Scott Currie at mid-wicket with the score on 94.

This looks a very good pitch and Leicestershire will need to work hard for wickets particularly as the ball gets softer

  6. 'Essex have their tails up'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lunch: Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 29-1

    Alex Hoad
    BBC Radio Kent commentator

It's been a bad morning I think it's safe to say for Kent.

It's pretty much been perfect from an Essex point of view, they got the maximum batting points and have got the breakthrough as well before lunch, it's all gone perfect to game plan.

The game plan for Kent will be to not lose any wickets after lunch and that is an understatement to be completely honest.

Essex have their tails up and will want to keep their tails up when they come back.

  7. 'A torrid first session for Kent'published at 13:24 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lunch: Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 29-1

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

A torrid first session for Kent.

Essex eventually declared at 530-7 but not before Matt Critchley had gone to his first 150. He was helped along the way by Simon Harmer and Shane Snater who took a liking to some of the Kent bowling.

Jaydn Denly’s opening first class wicket on debut will provide little consolation Kent and neither will the sight of Tawanda Muyeye leaving a straight one from Shane Snater to be out LBW or Simon Harmer getting the ball to grip and turn very early.

Kent are on the defensive and will need to stand-up and be counted against an Essex attack given some encouragement.

  8. Derbyshire in strong position at Glamorganpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lunch: Glamorgan 237 v Derbyshire 117-3

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Sophia Gardens

Derbyshire are in the ascendancy against Glamorgan, but their game is still quite finely poised at lunch on day two in Cardiff.

The visitors looked to be progressing quite serenely until their captain – and former Glamorgan skipper – David Lloyd was out lbw to Mason Crane for 60.

That was the leg-spinner’s first wicket for Glamorgan since joining on a season-long loan from Hampshire, and the England international has bowled nicely on debut.

James Harris has chipped in with his second wicket of the innings to dismiss Harry Came for 25 – also lbw – but Derbyshire are still in a strong position as they finish the morning session on 117-3, trailing by 120 runs.

  9. wicket

WICKET: James c Baker b Finch 96published at 13:10 British Summer Time 13 April

    Notts 399 v Worcs

    Oh dear, oh dear...

No century for Lyndon James! The Notts all-rounder had batted so well but his eyes lit up at a full toss from Adam Finch and he slapped it straight into the hands of Josh Baker at deep midwicket.

A few protests that the delivery was above waist height... but those fall on deaf ears and that's the end of the innings. Worcestershire will begin their reply at around 1.50pm.

  10. Lunch scorespublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 13 April

    • Hants 367 v Lancs 12-0
    • Notts 397-9 v Worcs (still in play)
    • Surrey 155-0 v Somerset 285
    • Warwickshire 662-3 v Durham

    Div Two

    • Glamorgan 237 v Derbyshire 117-3
    • Gloucs 88-3 v Yorkshire 326
    • Leics 338 v Sussex 98-1
    • Northants 425-4 v Middlesex

  11. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 13 April

    Hampshire 367 v Lancashire 12-0

Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells see off six overs from Kyle Abbott and Mohammad Abbas and that is lunch.

This remains the most finely balanced of all the Division One games with Hampshire adding 62 for their last four wickets this session.

All four sessions have been very evenly contested so far and it's why the balance of power is up for grabs this afternoon.

  12. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 13 April

    Warwickshire 662-3 v Durham

Another morning of complete dominance for Warwickshire with 172 runs added.

Alex Davies went for 256, but Will Rhodes remains on 154 not out.

The question is how long the Bears want to bat as they could score as many they want with their record score of 810 only 148 runs away.

  13. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 29-1

Daniel Bell-Drummond withstands a torrid first over from Shane Snater and Kent will be relieved to head off the field with only one wicket down.

Bell-Drummond played and missed, survived an lbw appeal and picked up two runs by edging a ball that spat up and forced him to take his bottom hand off the bat.

Ben Compton is unbeaten on 16, with Tawanda Muyeye the man to depart in this Kent reply.

  14. Lunch at the Kia Ovalpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 13 April

    Surrey 155-0 v Somerset

An excellent morning of batting from Rory Burns and Dom Sibley. They have scored when it has been there and defended when required.

They have moved to only 131 behind Somerset with all 10 wickets in hand.

And to reiterate, Ollie Pope, Dan Lawrence, Ben Foakes and the rest to come.

Not an appetising lunch in prospect for Somerset.

  15. 'Brett D'Oliveira will be thinking revenge is sweet'published at 12:58 British Summer Time 13 April

    Notts 396-9 v Worcs

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Brett D'Oliveira will be thinking revenge is sweet because he was the one run out by Luke Fletcher at New Road in 2021 behind closed doors.

Now he's got his own back.

  16. 650 uppublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 13 April

    Warwickshire 650-3 v Durham

After that 'collapse' of losing two wickets in quick succession, Will Rhodes and Dan Mousley have carried on in the same vein.

Their partnership is worth 84 without having to do too much with the field spread far and wide.

  17. wicket

WICKET: Muyeye lbw b Snater 11published at 12:53 British Summer Time 13 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 27-1

Shane Snater celebrates taking a wicketImage source, Rex Features

    There's the breakthrough for Essex!

Just what they wanted as lunch approaches - Shane Snater gets the ball to nip back towards off stump and Tawanda Muyeye thrusts a pad out unconvincingly.

Up goes the umpire's finger and Muyeye is on his way, with Daniel Bell-Drummond the man to replace him in the middle.

  18. 'Worcestershire don't want the ball turning too much'published at 12:52 British Summer Time 13 April

    Notts 396-9 v Worcs

    Jim Dale
    BBC Hereford and Worcester

Hint of the ball gripping a bit, you don't want it turning too much from a Worcestershire perceptive.

They've got a lot of batting to do in this game if they are to get anything out of it.

  19. Better than last yearpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 13 April

    Surrey 149-0 v Somerset 285

Dom Sibley and Rory Burns touch glovesImage source, Rex Features

    Dom Sibley, that is gorgeous!

Through the covers, high face of the bat, beautiful stuff. A 14th four of his innings.

Sibley moves to 73 and the stand is now worth 149, three better than the highest partnership Sibley and Rory Burns had last summer.

  20. wicket

WICKET: Fletcher run out 6published at 12:50 British Summer Time 13 April

    Notts 396-9 v Worcs

Great throw by Brett D'Oliveira to take the ninth Nottinghamshire wicket!

Luke Fletcher was just starting to get into his stride, punching Josh Baker for a straight four earlier in the over - but then he attempts a quick single on the off side and the Worcestershire captain pounces to scythe down the stumps at the bowler's end with a direct hit.

Nervy situation now for Lyndon James, who's 93 not out as last man - and former Worcestershire man Dillon Pennington - comes out to join him.
