    Suryakumar c Salt b Carse 2 (Ind 145-3)

And a wicket falls from the next ball...

It's the captain that departs, Suryakumar Yadav clipping high into the sky behind the wicket.

Keeper Phil Salt has to scramble to get under it, but manages to take the grab while tumbling over.

Not the greatest series for Suryakumar, he's not passed 14 in five matches.

It has been quite a ridiculous show of hitting. It has been absolutely beautiful. He has not looked to overhit.

  11. drinks break

    Ind 143-2published at 10 overs

A single from Abhishek brings the new batter, India captain Suryakumar Yadav on strike.

He takes two down to third then can't find a single in the same area as we go into the drinks break.

Finally time to catch your breath - meanwhile I'm going to dip my fingers in ice and look up synonyms for wallop.

  12. Ind 140-2published at 9.3 overs

A couple of dots to start from Adil Rashid's second over, before Abhishek drives him through the covers for four.

He moves to 98 from 35.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9 overs

    Varma c Salt b Carse 24 (Ind 136-2)

    Finally, something goes England's way.

Tilak Verma goes for a big lofted cut off Brydon Carse's final delivery, but the ball skims the gloves and goes through to Phil Salt behind the wicket.

A breakthrough, albeit the junior member of this partnership.

I'm running out of adjectives here.

Brydon Carse comes into the attack and he keeps the India batters to a couple of singles from his first three balls, but Abhishek plonks him over extra cover for another six.

My typing fingers can take a momentary rest as Abhishek takes a single from the last ball of the over.

But wait... that means he remains on strike.

    Oh dear.

Worrying lack of awareness in selection. Mahmood clearly more suited to these conditions and left on the bench. Again we’re a batter short. Again one spinner, meaning we have to bowl pace in the power play even though it’s clearly ineffective. Pay Morgan the money he wants, we desperately need someone who has a clue about strategy involved in our white-ball setup.
