  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.1 overs

    Duckett c Abhishek b Shami 0 (Eng 23-1)

Ben Duckett goes first ball! The Wankhede roars as England's opener clunks it to extra cover.

He had been kept off the strike throughout the first two overs and now has to go.

It's Abhishek Sharma with the simple catch too. You can't keep him out of the action today.

  2. Eng 23-0published at 2 overs

    Target 248

Phil Salt gets the final ball away as it comes down short enough for him to heave it through the leg side.

Still, that's a good start from Hardik. India will absolutely take that in this situation.

  3. Eng 19-0published at 1.5 overs

Brilliant from Hardik Pandya. Four dot balls have followed the two runs to start this over.

  4. Eng 18-0published at 1.3 overs

Hardik Pandya starts well with a mix of slower balls as he shares this new ball.

Phil Salt, who has faced every delivery so far, is swinging at everything.

  5. Eng 16-0published at 1 overs

    Target 248

Phil Salt sends another into orbit in the over but this doesn't have the legs to get to the boundary. It was all height and no distance.

Anyway, England are ahead of the required run-rate in this record chase.

It would be their best and the second-best in T20 internationals.

  6. 6 runs

    Eng 14-0published at 0.3 overs

And this one is massive from Phil Salt!

    Gasps from the Mumbai crowd.

  7. Eng 8-0published at 0.2 overs

The second ball is bashed for four by Phil Salt too...

  8. Eng 4-0published at 0.1 overs

    Game on?

Phil Salt slams the first ball for four.

This would be extraordinary if England chase down 248, but you have to say par on this pitch is probably around 215 and with dew likely to be a factor they have a puncher’s chance.

But someone will have to play a big innings. They can’t afford the attractive but ultimately inconsequential cameos that have been a feature of their batting this series. Yes, I’m looking at you Ben Duckett and Jos Buttler.

Right, teams are back out there.

England are chasing 248 - no big deal, eh?

Here's Matthew Henry to take you through it.

There are times you wonder if could still play game. You watch innings like that and are very glad you have hung up your boots.

Remarkable, ruthless, relentless and fun to watch. When you are there as a bowler it is a really difficult place to be.

I don't think I'm qualified to talk about a bloke who's hit more sixes in the past one hour and 15 minutes than I have in my entire life. It was extraordinary.

Everything was so clean. It was a pleasure to watch.

These are the only successful T20 chases over 245

    259 - South Africa v West Indies, Centurion 2023

    253 - Middlesex vs Surrey, Oval 2023

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 20 overs

    Ravi Bishnoi c Carse b Overton 0 (Ind 247-9)

Ravi Bishnoi in to face the final ball of the innings... and he's caught.

He gets the under the ball but not especially well, lifting the ball to Brydon Carse at deep mid-wicket.

Seven runs off the final over as Overton closes with figures of 1-48.

India finish one short of the record score against England in T20Is - I'm not sure they'll be so bothered.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.5 overs

Axar run out (Livingstone) 15 (Ind 247-8)

Next ball goes to cover, no score.

Axar Patel tries to run up two from the penultimate delivery of Overton's over, striking to deep mid-wicket.

The throw comes in from the deep and Buttler takes off the bails - Axar has to go.

  17. Ind 246-7published at 19.3 overs

Axar can't score off the next ball, but he throws his hands at the next ball and it flies to the cover ropes for four.

  18. Ind 242-7published at 19.1 overs

Jamie Overton to bowl the final over for England.

Axar Patel races through two into the leg side from the first delivery.

  19. Ind 240-7published at 19 overs

Mark Wood to bowl his last over.

Axar Patel and new batter Mohammed Shami can only take him for a couple of singles and a leg bye.

A good penultimate over for England as Wood finishes with figures of 2-32.

That was one of the great T20 innings. It's a very good bowling attack - Wood, Archer and Adil Rashid. That was as good as you will ever see.
