  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 2 May

    Rhodes c Organ b Abbott 22 (Hants v Durham 64-2)

    Second wicket for Kyle Abbott!

The paceman digs one in short and Will Rhodes looks to be off balance as he hoiks it straight to midwicket.

It looked as though Durham were beginning to lift the shackles in the previous over, which yielded six runs - but they'll have to reset now. Colin Ackermann is the new man in.

  2. Postpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 56-1

Lewis Gregory and Tom Lammonby are both off the field briefly so Alfie Ogborne gets even more time on the field as the tremendous sub fielder he is and Kasey Aldridge is not given so much of a rest as he too is already back on.

Jack Leach gets his first over of the match from the River End, the penultimate delivery of the first over turns beautifully past the outside edge of Tom Westley's bat.

He also starts with a maiden just like Migael Pretorius.

  3. Postpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 58-1

Brad Wheal has come back really well after being carted for a few boundaries by Emilio Gay earlier this morning.

Wheal has changed ends and recorded three consecutive maidens to strangle Durham's momentum completely... the visitors have scored just a single in their last six overs.

The last of those was bowled by Kyle Abbott, who's back on for a second spell and gave Will Rhodes plenty of opportunities to practise his forward defensive.

  4. 50 runs

50 up for Yorkshirepublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 59-3 v Warwickshire

Harry Brook's first two scoring shots both went for four. That mid-off punch off Michael Booth in his last over and another good-looking one in his next.

Slightly on the up, driven square of the wicket through cover point. Always in control.

He turns another off his pads through mid-wicket for three.

Booth is getting plenty of movement, but Brook is watching it all the way on to his bat.

  5. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 55-1

Migael Pretorius bowls his first over from the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion End.

He starts with a maiden, Tom Westley happy to continue to get his eye in, he is up to six now with Dean Elgar 21*.

  6. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 58-1

Suddenly the runs have dried up for Durham, with Brad Wheal sending down consecutive maidens to sandwich Liam Dawson's opening over, which also went for nothing.

Wheal also gets one delivery to jag back at Will Rhodes and zip just past his off stump.

Dawson's second over is comparatively expensive. Well, it costs him a single anyway. Alex Lees moves up to 21, with Rhodes still stuck on 18.

  7. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 49-3 v Warwickshire

The sun may out and happy at Headingley but batting remains a test on this pitch with its healthy flush of green.

*checks fate has taken an early lunch* - Adam Lyth has battled well and looks like he's becoming more comfortable. He's caressed a four through the covers and run a three off Ethan Bamber on his way to 22.

At the other end, Harry Brook has just got off the mark with a languid punch for four through mid-off.

Fenners: Living proof that England pays no attention to the County Championship. Bashir & Crawley are having shockers in Division Two! Can someone please explain this to me?

Shoaib Bashir and Zak Crawley were both named in England's Test squad earlier for the game against Zimbabwe later this month.

  9. Division Two latestpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 2 May

Table-toppers Leicestershire have just lost their first wicket against Northants. Luke Procter got Sol Budinger for 30 to leave the hosts 58-1 at Grace Road.

Asa Tribe is leading the way for Glamorgan against Derbyshire. The opener has 38 and his side are going well on 65-0.

Kent are wobbling at Lord's. They're now 44-3 against Middlesex with Ben Compton the latest batter to go cheaply, bowled by Ryan Higgins.

At Old Trafford Lancashire have crept on to 35-2 against Gloucestershire. Marcus Harris and Josh Bohannon have started the rebuild for the hosts.

  10. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 57-1

No token pre-lunch over of spin here - we've got around to it a little earlier as Liam Dawson comes on to deliver a maiden.

Dawson has a slip and short leg for Alex Lees, but neither of them have much involvement in this opening over.

Hampshire also have Felix Organ in their line-up today as a second spinning option.

  11. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 47-1

Tom Westley is taking his time here, in absolutely no rush as he is still yet to get off the mark off 10 balls, the latest of Lewis Gregory's sixth over a beauty past his outside edge.

Dean Elgar is 19* loving being back batting here.

  12. Postpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 57-1

Alex Lees nudges ahead of his partner again, clipping Sonny Baker cleanly through the mid-on area with just enough pace to see off Kyle Abbott's chase to the rope.

Lees, who has 20 to Will Rhodes' 18, then fishes uncertainly outside off stump at Baker later in the over but doesn't make contact.

Brad Wheal has switched ends now to replace Abbott after his opening stint of 1-13 from six overs.

  13. wicket

    Root c Yates b Barnard 1 (Yorkshire 32-3 v Warwickshire)

Revenge for Ed Barnard! Just a couple of balls after Alex Davies dropped Joe Root at first slip, Rob Yates has shown safer mits at second.

It's not a great shot from Root - a bit of a steer with an open face straight to Yates who hangs on with both hands low to his left.

Root, who scored just a single from 17 balls, understandably looked a little ring-rusty batting for the first time since the Champions Trophy a couple of months ago.

Yorkshire in a bit of bother now but as one England man leaves, another takes his place.

    Welcome Harry Brook...

  14. Postpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 40-1

I feel like there should be a little celebration on the Essex balcony, but in truth Sam Cook probably knew last night and his team-mates too.

He has just been named in the squad for the Zimbabwe test match later this month, yes one of the worst kept secrets in England cricket with the vast number of fast bowling injuries and prioritising of franchise competitions.

His 318 first-class wickets at an average of 19.77, and 13 wickets across three matches on the recent England Lions tour of Australia have finally seen him given the nod.

Not Jamie Cox (the Somerset CEO watching on), but Cook's team-mate Jordan Cox joins him in the same squad after his unfortunate time in New Zealand last November-December.

    Gus Atkinson (Surrey)

    Shoaib Bashir (Somerset)

    Harry Brook (Yorkshire)

    Sam Cook (Essex)

    Jordan Cox (Essex)

    Zak Crawley (Kent)

Dropped catchpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 32-2 v Warwickshire

    Joe Root put down!

Huge let-off for the England legend. Pity for Ed Barnard, who's found Root's outside edge with a cracker that's swung late off a probing length.

Alex Davies has shelled a simple catch.

  17. 'Yorkshire working hard for runs'published at 11:58 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 30-2 v Warwickshire

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

It's been an interesting first hour. The fact that Adam Lyth is only on 12 when you know how fluent he is naturally as a player tells you Warwickshire's bowlers have started well.

There's some assistance in the green pitch and he's had to work hard for his runs.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 2 May

    Walter c Davey b Overton 22 (Somerset v Essex 40-1)

A strange and surprise dismissal, a full-blooded booming drive from Paul Walter it appeared, but it is chipped straight to Josh Davey at mid on.

Skipper Tom Westley does not copy Lewis Gregory's lead with Josh Davey at three last week, he does the conventional and brings himself in at first drop.

  19. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 48-1

Neither of these Durham batters would have played with Mark Stoneman - who left the county almost nine years ago - but they should have known he's a pretty useful fielder.

Will Rhodes sets off for a quick single on the off side and Stoneman pounces, hitting the stumps at the bowler's end but the left-hander just about makes his ground in time.

Rhodes has overtaken partner Alex Lees now, moving along to 17 courtesy of a boundary off Sonny Baker.

  20. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 40-0 after 13 overs

A change of gloves for Paul Walter, after 48 minutes. It is hot out there, as I sit typing in the airconditioned press box, but we are only two days into May, and he has not yet been batting for an hour yet, so I do fear the twelthers will be rather busy if he bats all day.

These new gloves see him playing a tad more aggressively, aiming a booming drive off Lewis Gregory which he gets no bat on, then whipping through midwicket off the front foot for two.
