With stumps called at Headingley that's where we'll leave today's live text.

We'll be back for day two at 10:45 BST on Saturday.

Hope you can join us then!

  2. Stumps at Headingleypublished at 19:11 British Summer Time

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 161-6

A long absorbing day ends with both sides pretty satisfied with their day's work.

After sticking Yorkshire in, Warwickshire were excellent with the ball - especially Ethan Bamber with his Bears-best figures of 5-47 - as the visitors made sure the noise around the inclusion of England pair Joe Root (1) and Harry Brook (33) was kept to a minimum.

But, as we know, the true measure of a pitch can only be made when both sides have had a go on it and, with its greenness staying all day, so did the help for the bowlers.

The Tykes all-seam attack made the most of it too and quickly had Warwickshire in trouble on 47-4.

But a gutsy and classy 50 stand between Ed Barnard (41) and Dan Mousley (32) put a lot of bricks back in the Warwickshire wall and with Australia all-rounder Beau Webster resuming in the morning on 32 (from 31 balls) the visitors will have solid hope that can yet carve out a first-innings lead only 44 runs behind.

  3. Postpublished at 19:02 British Summer Time

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 158-6

Another maiden seen off by Olly Hannon-Dalby, who takes one on the body to the last ball from Ben Sears.

It loops into the hands of short-leg and Yorkshire ask the question. It's nowhere near the bat or glove though.

    Ten balls left.

  4. Postpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 158-6

With the best part of 14ft between them, has there been a taller pair at the crease than Beau Webster and Olly Hannon-Dalby?

If there has, I'm sure someone can tell us.

After a couple of uncertain pokes, ODH has found his range and played a straight and dead bat when he's had to.

    He's doing his job here.

    Three overs to go.

  5. Stumps at Lord'spublished at 18:52 British Summer Time

    Middx 158-4 v Kent 129

Ryan Higgins, MiddlesexImage source, Rex Features

It's advantage Middlesex at the end of day one, having bowled Kent out for 129 and opening up a 29-run lead over their visitors.

Ryan Higgins has top-scored with an unbeaten 44 and he and Ben Geddes have added 62 so far for the fifth wicket.

WICKETpublished at 18:48 British Summer Time

    Barnard c Lyth b Sears 41 (Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 156-6)

    Ben Sears breaks through.

Big wicket for Yorkshire late in the day and Ed Barnard will be sad about the way he got out.

It was sharp from Sears, no question, and at Barnard a touch and the all-rounder has rather steered it straight to Adam Lyth at second slip pretty much off the face of the splice.

Olly Hannon-Dalby is the nightwatchman/hawk/volunteer/only one padded up.

    Four overs left.

  7. 150 runs

150 for Warwickshirepublished at 18:46 British Summer Time

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 151-5

Beau Webster has taken Ed Barnard's purr and raise it to a roar. He's just thrashed two gloriously Australian back-foot slashes through cover point for four off Ben Sears.

Then he shows a more delicate touch leg-glancing the New Zealander down to the fine-leg fence for another boundary.

In no time he's up to 27 from 23 and has Warwickshire past 150, just 54 behind.

This has a one-innings match written all over it in font size 100.

    Five overs to go.

  8. Stumps at Leicesterpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time

    Leics 304 v Northants 6-0

Openers Ricardo Vasconcelos and Luke Procter bat out the final five overs to ensure Northamptonshire will have all 10 wickets standing when they resume their innings tomorrow.

The visitors have shaved six runs off the deficit after bowling Leicestershire out for 304, helped in no small measure by Harry Conway's figures of 5-68 on his county debut.

  9. Close of play at Cardiffpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 336-6 v Derbyshire

Former Glamorgan player David Lloyd bowls the final over of the day at Cardiff and it's his old team who look to be on top after Derbyshire put them in.

Colin Ingram will return in the morning on 80 not out alongside Timm van der Gugten, who has 18 to his name.

  10. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time

    Lancs 342-5 v Glos

Marcus Harris celebrates reaching 150Image source, Rex Features

A magnificent day for Marcus Harris, who reaches stumps unbeaten on 165 after coming in when Lancashire were 23-2 inside the opening hour.

Harris has faced 263 balls so far, hitting 15 fours and two sixes and earlier shared a stand of 212 for the fourth wicket with Matty Hurst.

  11. Postpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 135-5

Ed Barnard is purring. Two more glorious back-foot cuts disappear off his bat to the fence in identical fashion during a wayward over from Ben Coad.

He's up to 39 with eight boundaries but is nearly knocked over as Sears gets one to keep low and is not far from castling the Bears all-rounder.

They run a bye as Bairstow can't gather it and next ball Beau Webster smashes a short one through mid-wicket for his first four.

    He hit that HARD.

  12. Postpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 125-5

Beau Webster is so tall his bat looks like he got it out of a beach cricket set, but he's made a solid-enough start on his debut for Warwickshire.

He only bowled a couple of overs but did take a sharp one-handed slip catch to wrap up the Yorkshire innings.

He got runs and wickets on his Test debut against India at the SCG in January and played two more in the subsequent tour to Sri Lanka.

So far he averages 50 with the bat (from three innings and one not out) in Tests and close to 40 in first-class cricket.

Webster's with the Bears for the next three months and looks the all-action cricketer that will get bums on seats.

At the moment, he's watching from other end as Ed Barnard helps himself to more runs - he's up to 35 now thanks to a seventh four.

  13. 'A very good wicket'published at 18:25 British Summer Time

    Somerset 9-1 v Essex 206

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport from Taunton

I just spoke to Miggy Pretorius after his 3-24 helped keep Essex below a crucial first batting bonus point this afternoon:

"With the Duke we have learned once the lacquer comes off, the older it is it definitely does more, as we saw after lunch. It’s a very good wicket I think the Groundsmen did a good job.

“I think the heavy rollers make a big difference, they change the condition of the wicket, but at the end of the day that’s the rules.

The wicket does also look good for the spinners. We will play Harmer as well as we can!”

“It’s been a good start for me so far, at least this season it’s a little bit warmer than it was this time last year, I enjoy it, just hopefully we can put in some good performances.”

  14. Stumps at Southamptonpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time

    Hants v Durham 330-5

An over of off-breaks from Tom Prest, which costs him four singles and then Felix Organ delivers the last six balls of the day - without success, from the Hampshire perspective.

And that's been the story of most of sessions two and three, with Durham recovering from their earlier losses to put a strong score on the board.

Graham Clark finishes the day on 110, with George Drissell 58 not out and the pair have now added 124 - identical to the stand Clark and Ollie Robinson shared for the previous wicket.

  15. Division Two latestpublished at 18:15 British Summer Time

Harry Conway celebrates wicketImage source, Getty Images

Table-toppers Leicestershire have been bowled out for 304 by Northants and it's a five-wicket haul on debut for Harry Conway. The Australian finishes with 5-68.

Gloucestershire have finally broken through at Old Trafford. Zaman Akhter has removed Matty Hurst for 78 to end a stand of 212 with Marcus Harris. Harris is on 163, and Lancashire are 337-4.

Glamorgan are past 300 against Derbyshire - Colin Ingram is leading the way on 75 in their 318-6.

And Middlesex are just about to overtake Kent's first-innings 129 all out. The hosts are 124-4 at Lord's.

  16. Postpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time

    Hants v Durham 326-5

With two overs left tonight, this has been Durham's day - a scenario that looked unlikely when they slumped to 82-4 just after lunch.

But thanks to Ollie Robinson, Graham Clark and latterly George Drissell, they are closing in on a third bonus point with the bat.

Hampshire have one so far - and they secured that before the lunch interval when Kyle Abbott claimed his third wicket.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time

    Mousley c Lyth b Coad 32 (Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 106-5)

    Relief at last for Yorkshire!

With Jonny Bairstow up to the stumps, Dan Mousley has to anchor his back foot and maybe that's affected how much of his weight he's got into his forward defensive.

He's kind of half forward and it holds its line from around the wicket and Adam Lyth says thanks very much at second slip.

Great effort from England international Mousley, but Yorkshire have broken his stand with Ed Barnard at 59.

  18. Postpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 102-4

Warwickshire continue their impressive resistance in the glorious evening sunshine at Headingley.

Ed Barnard and Dan Mousley have got their heads down and found the perfect blend of bloody-mindedness and boldness in carving out a 50 partnership for the fifth wicket - a super effort after coming together in the wreckage of 47-4.

They've been together for over an hour now and not looked in much trouble.

Barnard brings up the 100 with another sumptuously-timed punch through cover for four. He moves to 28 with his partner on 24.

Still best part of an hour to go with 13 overs left in the day.

Yorkshire's frustrations growing with the shadows.

  19. 100 runs

100 for Graham Clarkpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time

    Hants v Durham 315-5

Graham Clark, DurhamImage source, Getty Images

That's a fifth first-class century for Graham Clark and he gets there with a classy stroke, punching Liam Dawson off the back foot to the midwicket boundary.

Clark has batted beautifully today, playing a big part in helping to turn this Durham innings around.

He reaches his hundred - his first in the top flight of the County Championship - from 188 balls.

  20. Close of playpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time

    Somerset 9-1 v Essex 206

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport from Taunton

Josh Davey continues to farm the strike and look like the top order batter he was, maybe number three is his spot to keep?!

It is hard/impossible to judge what is a good score on this pitch until both sides have batted on it, but Somerset will be relieved to get to close just one down.

Fairly in the balance after day one, still no batting bonus points yet on the board for either side.

Tomorrow will be moving day and there could still be a result in this match by Sunday's close, but do not write off bank holiday Monday cricket here yet, this pitch will flatten out, but how much is a question noone has the answer to.

I'm off to commence my WEPL playing campaign tomorrow and (T20s) Sunday, but if Somerset survive the weekend I will be back here to report on Monday.
