  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 4 April

    Cox b Roach 117 (Essex 318-4)

    That's a surprise!

Kemar Roach comes haring in from the Sir Alastair Cook end and Jordan Cox is bowled.

There could be an inside edge and Roach looks to the skies as if to say 'thank the lord for that'

  5. Postpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 136-3 v Worcs 154

Tom Abell hangs back and plays a late cut off Ethan Brooks through to the backward point boundary.

  6. All about 'little victories' for Yorkshirepublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 4 April

    Hants 114-3 v Yorks 121

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

It was a very good bit of keeping by Jonny Bairstow.

There was just enough air time on the ball for Jonny to get around the back of the stumps.

It's about the little victories for Yorkshire. If they can pick up another couple then they'll feel a lot happier about today after what was a dismal display with the bat.

  7. Postpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 346-4

The light is closing in at Edgbaston with the floodlights on.

Tom Clark picks up two more and is now just six runs short of his highest First Class score of 138.

    Essex 314-3 v Surrey

    Stand and deliver!

In comes Jordan Clark to Jordan Cox and there goes the ball racing away to the cover boundary.

Essex won the toss and batted today - they're enjoying it.

It wasn't where Tom Banton intended but the ball runs for four and it's fifty.

Banton now has 14 first-class half-centuries and this one has come at a rapid lick, off just 64 balls, with 10 fours.

  10. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 125-3 v Worcs 154

Ethan Brookes is on for his first over of the match.

Tom Abell and Tom Banton trade singles as the latter moves one shy of his half-century.

They've now added 86 for the fourth wicket after those early wobbles.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 41,2 overs

    Middleton c Bairstow b Bess 45 (Hants 106-3 v Yorks 121)

Great work by the Yorkshire captain.

Dom Bess finds a bit of extra loop and there is an inside edge from Fletcha Middleton onto his front pad, giving Jonny Bairstow time to move smartly from behind the stumps and dive forwards to take the catch.

Middleton departs for 45, made off 121 balls, and Tom Prest is the new batter.

  12. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 307-3 v Surrey

Right, so Surrey took the new ball but with Jordan Cox having crashed it into the advertising boards there's a problem with it and Rory Burns wants it changed.

For the second time today the Surrey skipper gets his way and we have a replacement.

  13. new ball

New ballpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 314-7

Lyndon James has final use of the first ball and it's economical enough, but still leaks a four to Ben Raine.

Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed has no hesitation in taking the new ball when offered and hurls it to Dillon Pennington.

George Drissell puffs his cheeks as he edges through second and third slip and the ball races to the boundary. Otherwise it's five dots.

  14. Division Two updatepublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 4 April

Another wicket for Kent at Wantage Road as Grant Stewart has George Bartlett caught behind for 13. Northants are 41-3 after 14 overs, replying to 231 all out by the visitors.

Derbyshire have made a positive start to their innings against Gloucestershire, progressing to 21-0 in the fourth over with David Lloyd and Caleb Jewell together in the middle.

Leicestershire are 11-0 after three overs at Sophia Gardens, having bowled out Glamorgan for 229. Rishi Patel injured his hand while fielding earlier in the day and the Foxes say he will be "will be assessed further across the course of the fixture".

  15. new ball

New ballpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 307-3 v Surrey

Surrey take the new ball and hand it to Jordan Clark, who bowls to Jordan Cox who hits it to the backward point boundary.

  16. Postpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 122-3 v Worcs 154

Honours to the bowler as Tom Taylor swings one away and draws a genuine edge from Tom Banton.

He's bang out of luck as it races past the slips to the third man boundary.

Tom Abell is more convincing as he plunders another boundary off Ben Allison to go to 40.

  17. Postpublished at 40 overs

    Hants 104-2 v Yorks 121

There isn't much margin for error for Dom Bess on this pitch and a full toss is put away for four by Fletcha Middleton.

That's better from the spinner as he beats the outside edge to end the over with a well flighted delivery.

  18. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 327-4

Tom Clark hammers Ethan Bamber into the white Edgbaston seats for his first maximum of the innings.

He takes three more runs to move to 114 with John Simpson on 89.

Stop the ride, Warwickshire want to get off.

  19. Foxes make most of conditionspublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 4 April

    Glamorgan 229 v Leics 7-0

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Chris Cooke led belated resistance with a half century as Glamorgan struggled past 200 following Leicestershire’s dominance of the afternoon session.

Seam quartet Ian Holland, Ben Mike, Tom Scriven and Ben Green all bowled well to reduce Glamorgan to 176-8 just before tea.

But Shoaib Bashir (20) showed unexpected skills to aid Cooke in a stand of 53 for the ninth wicket before Rehan Ahmed tempted Bashir into a slog and bowled him, with Cooke last out for the top score of 55.

Not enough runs on the board, and credit to the Foxes for making the most of conditions.

  20. Postpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 306-7

George Drissell comes down the track and smashes Farhan Ahmed through the covers for his third boundary.

The new ball is just an over away and Durham seem intent to make hay while the sun shines.

That could be that for the day for the spinner who has impressed.
