    Jones b Rashid 10 (USA 57-3)

    You miss, I hit.

Aaron Jones essays a wild slog at a googly and his timbers are well and truly rattled.

Excellent start from Adil Rashid, and England are in control.

The ball is turning and I wonder for Liam Livingstone if it might be worth putting a slip in place?

Powerplay bowling has been a consistent problem for us in the World Cup. The fact we started with two overs of spin vs Scotland and now bowl no spin shows how unsure we’ve been. If we do get through I worry what India could do in our first 6 overs.

  4. USA 55-2published at 7.4 overs

Interesting move from Jos Buttler as Liam Livingstone comes on. The Cumbrian has a few variations up his sleeve but has bowled only three overs in the World Cup so far.

It looks a good move as he slides one past the outside edge of Jones, and then next ball an edge goes through where slip might have been for four.

The powerplay, and pace on the ball, has not been a problem for the USA in this World Cup. The issue is what happens when spin comes on. Adil Rashid will be the big challenge. Can they convert this start?

  6. USA 50-2published at 7 overs

Adil Rashid replaces Reece Topley, and Jones and Nitesh nurdle him around for just two singles in an excellent first over.

  7. How's stat?!published at 15:59 23 June

USA's Aaron Jones has whacked 14 sixes so far in the World Cup which is second only to West Indies' Nicholas Pooran with 17.

However, 10 of those maximums came in USA's victory over Canada in the opening game of the tournament.

A carbon copy dismissal for Steven Taylor. He's been out so many times to that shot you may as well have three or four backward points in place.

  9. USA 47-2published at 5.5 overs

Aaron Jones is next, and he is under way immediately with a gorgeous guide down to the rope at third.

Brilliantly caught! That was superb from Moeen Ali. It was short and wide and Steven Taylor flashed at it. That's a much-needed second wicket for England.

    Taylor c Ali b Curran 12 (USA 43-2)

    What a catch!

The left-handed opener slashes outside off stump, and Moeen Ali moves to his left to cling on to a chance with both hands that gives Sam Curran his 50th T20 international wicket.

  12. USA 43-1published at 5.2 overs

Sam Curran replaces Jofra Archer, he's one short of 50 wickets in T20 internationals.

Steven Taylor really throws the hands at one outside off, and with no slip kin place it races to the boundary.

Nitesh Kumar has actually adapted his game to T20 cricket. He was actually more of a long-format player, who wanted to play first-class cricket. There's been quite a transformation in his game.

Nitish Kumar looks in the mood to take on the England bowling attack this morning.

  15. USA 37-1published at 4,3 overs

That's better from Nitish Kumar, he climbs into Reece Topley to drives him wide of mid-on for four.

And there's even better to come from the next delivery, as the right hander lifts him a long way over long-on for six.

And a great catch from a man in the crowd - fancy a go as sub?

    Topley snared Gous early on.

  17. USA 26-1published at 4 overs

Nitish Kumar had been restricted by Jofra Archer, until he tried a hook at a short one and such was the pace of the delivery that it flew high, over Buttler and over the rope for six!

    Again, not totally convincing.

I was out in the Greenidge and Haynes stand for the first two overs.

There were loud chants of “U-S-A! U-S-A!” before the first ball and opening boundary.

I chatted to a group from New York with Indian heritage kitted out with their Stars and Stripes.

“Who are you supporting in the tournament?” I asked.

    “Both!”

That will be a confidence booster for Steven Taylor. It looked like it was in Chris Jordan's arc but it was about two feet above him. That's the kind of luck Taylor hasn't had in the tournament so far.

It's nowhere near a full house here but I guess maybe a few England fans had a bit of a hectic Saturday night in Barbados so will drift in a little bit later.
