  1. USA 18-1published at 3 overs

Steven Taylor takes a step down the track and smashes Reece Topley through the off side - it's just over Chris Jordan and smacks into rope, but that wasn't too convincing.

  2. USA 11-1published at 2.1 overs

Nitish Kumar is off the mark with a nice drive through the covers off Reece Topley, Harry Brook hares back and stops it just short of the boundary.

Steven Taylor is a big power player and he is trying to play touch cricket at the moment. He's attempting to tap it around.

The trap was set and he fell for it. It was flayed away in the air and comfortably held by Phil Salt. An immediate setback for the USA.

  5. USA 9-1published at 1.4 overs

    Panic stations for USA!

Taylor edges to gully and sets off, he's sent back and had Liam Livingstone's throw hit, he would have been gone by a distance.

  6. USA 9-1published at 1.3 overs

Nitish Kumar is in, while Jofra Archer is on and straight away making Taylor grope outside off stump.

    Gous c Salt b Topley 8 (USA 9-1)

Andries Gous tries the same again and comes up short!

It was an airy flick that went more square and straight to the grateful Phil Salt just in from the boundary.

    Great start for England.

  8. USA 9-0published at 0.4 overs

Nice! Gous flips Topley to fine leg for a six that bumps the sponge.

We've just had the Rocky theme tune playing - the only thing that's missing from this USA squad is someone from Philadelphia in the team!

  10. USA 3-0published at 0.3 ovees

Andries Gous gets a leading edge that loops over cover for two, and next up he jabs at one that goes through to Jos Buttler. It's doing a bit, it seems.

  11. USA 1-0published at 0.1 overs

It's outside off stump, full, and Steven Taylor flashes a drive in the air to third for a single.

    Right, here we go.

Reece Topley is all set for the first over, and he'll open up to Steven Taylor.

And they're playing the theme from 'Rocky' on the PA! Superb.

England are the stronger side and have the capability to win and win big. We had a conversation about the team selection and for me Mark Wood is brilliant in the powerplay, but England look a batter light so it makes sense to bring Chris Jordan in. He's a veteran at the death as well.

There were a few raindrops falling during the anthems. We might get the odd squally shower today.

Wisden.com managing editor Ben Gardner on X: I've done the maths, and England need to win and keep their net run rate above 0.556 to be mathematically through.

If West Indies don't beat South Africa, England would be through on points. And if West Indies do win, that's the highest South Africa's net run-rate can reach in defeat.

So that's between 10 and 13 balls to spare, depending on the USA total.

Huge flags are unfurled on the outfield, and the anthems are being sung with real gusto.

  17. Brook eyes big winpublished at 15:22 23 June

"We’ve got to win and then obviously see how we are on net run-rate but the main thing is to definitely get that win," Brook said.

"We’ve played in Barbados quite a lot the past six months so we know the conditions, we know the wind and the pitch as well so hopefully we can go out there and give them a good battering."

England were here two weeks ago when it looked like their World Cup was heading to a premature end.

Since then they've ventured to Antigua and St Lucia and got their campaign back on track.

Win well today and they're in the semi-finals.

And speaking of that, want to take a look at how Afghanistan beat Australia? I thought so.

Afghanistan really upset the applecart with a 21-run win in St Vincent.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the lynchpin with 60, then Gulbadin Naib took 4-20 to seal Afghanistan's first-ever win over Australia in any format.
