  1. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 85-5

Luke Wells scored a century last week against Somerset and you get the feeling Lancashire may need another from him today if they're to prolong their hopes of survival.

Wells is 33 not out, with George Bell alongside him on five - and realistically the visitors must recover to post a minimum of 250 in their first innings to stay in contention.

  2. 6 runs

Ryan Higgins on the attackpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 28 September

    Sussex v Middlesex 130-3

Tom Clark drops short and Ryan Higgins pulls the ball over mid wicket for six runs!

More punishment for the Sussex attack at the other end as Sam Robson hits Fynn Hudson-Prentice over his head and down the ground for four.

    Lovely, straight and lofted drive.

  3. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset v Hants 58-4 (target 121)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore nearly takes a spectacular catch akin to that he took in the 2023 T20 Blast final at Edgbaston.

He said he simply did not pick it up early enough to move his feet, and again his outstretched mit nearly pulls in a worldy.

Liam Dawson gets four for it.

  4. Lancashire down today?published at 14:25 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 77-5

If Lancashire are bowled out for less than 250 in their first innings and Nottinghamshire take one more Warwickshire wicket, Lancashire will be relegated.

Very gloomy if you're a fan of the Red Rose county.

  5. wicket

WICKET: Davies b Duffy 5published at 14:25 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 487 v Warks 6-2

Poor decision by Alex Davies to leave that ball from Jacob Duffy as it careers back into him and sends the off stump flying.

Warwickshire are in trouble here... they'd better just pray that Lancashire don't stage a major recovery at New Road.

  6. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 130-1 v Northants 147

Ben Sanderson drifts one into leg stump and Adam Lyth flicks the ball away fine for four runs as the ball beats George Bartlett to the rope.

Lyth aborts a pull shot off a shorter ball and nudges the last ball of the over through deep third for four more.

  7. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 28 September

    Sussex v Middlesex 111-3

Ryan Higgins is off the mark with four runs clipped through square leg on the front foot off the bowling of Jaydev Unadkat.

The run rate is beyond five an over as Middlesex strive to rack up batting bonus points to try and catch Yorkshire in the promotion race.

But they need the Tykes to lose.

  8. wicket

WICKET: Hurst c Home b Waite 14published at 14:18 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 73-5

Second wicket for Matthew Waite - and Lancashire are five down.

Matty Hurst drives him to midwicket and the catch is safely pouched by the diving Jack Home to end that mini-recovery.

Hurst and Luke Wells had added 43 for the fifth wicket, but now they've got half of their side back in the hutch - and still trail by 107.

  9. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset v Hants 48-4 (target 121)

Massive appeal for lbw on Liam Dawson second ball nothing doing, it is all going on here.

  10. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 116-1 v Northants 147

Yorkshire continue to make serene progress as Adam Lyth is forward to tuck Ben Sanderson away through square leg for two.

That takes the second wicket partnership with James Wharton to 100 in 132 balls.

A reminder that 10 points is enough to take Yorkshire up. Any sort of first-innings lead should get them there.

  11. wicket

WICKET Prest lbw b Leach 13published at 14:15 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset v Hants 46-4 (target 121)

Just as Hampshire were calming things down, another wicket falls!

Tom Prest attempts to reverse sweep Jack Leach, misses and is plumb in front.

75 still needed for victory, six wickets in hand.

  12. wicket

WICKET Du Plooy c Alsop b Unadkat 6published at 14:11 British Summer Time 28 September

    Sussex v Middlesex 103-3

Leus du Plooy will be disappointed with that.

He tries a forcing drive off the back foot and gets a thick edge through to Tom Alsop chest high at first slip.

The ball comes to him a little quicker than he expected. He juggles it but holds on and Jaydev Unadkat has his second wicket.

    Ryan Higgins to bat next.

  13. 50 runs

50 up for Lancashirepublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 54-4

Luke Wells is still fighting for Lancashire's survival, anyway - and the left-hander emerges from his shell to give Ethan Brookes the charge, depositing a huge six into the stand.

That lifts the visitors' total above 50. They're going to need a lot more to stand any chance...

  14. 50 runs

50 for Adam Lythpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 104-1 v Northants 147

Adam Lyth is forward and across to Jack White, driving the Northants bowler through the off side for four to reach 50.

That's his sixth half century this season.

He also has four centuries this summer in a tally of more than 1100 runs.

67 balls with eight fours and a six.

  15. Elsewhere...published at 14:08 British Summer Time 28 September

Essex continue to pile on the runs against champions Surrey.

They're now 321-2 at Chelmsford with Dean Elgar 130 not out.

Chasing 382 for victory, Gloucestershire are 40-1 against Glamorgan in Cardiff. Both sides forfeited an innings to set up a game there.

Durham are dominant against already-relegated Kent. Alex Lees is 111 not out in their 189-1.

Leicestershire have made an excellent start against Derbyshire in Division Two. Sol Budinger has 60 and the Foxes are 90-0.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Yates c McCann b Hutton 0published at 14:07 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 487 v Warks 0-1

That's the start Nottinghamshire were after!

Brett Hutton finds the edge of Rob Yates' bat and the ball flies off the outside edge to second slip, where Freddie McCann dives to his left to pouch it.

Yates is on his way for a duck and Will Rhodes is in for the Bears.

  17. 50 runs

50 for Sam Robsonpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 28 September

    Sussex v Middlesex 98-2

Sam Robson drives Jaydev Unadkat past the bowler's outstretched hand and down the ground for four to reach 50.

That's his fifth half century in a very productive season that has also yielded three hundreds and an average north of 50.

51 balls and eight fours in his innings to date.

  18. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 100-1 v Northants 147

Wharton picks up four with a superb flowing drive through mid off.

Leg side from Justin Broad and James Wharton tucks the ball away behind square for four.

That shot takes Yorkshire to 100 in 23.5 overs.

  19. Postpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 41-4

For now, Luke Wells and Matty Hurst have staunched the bleeding, although Lancashire still look precariously placed to say the least.

They badly need these two to build a substantial partnership if they're to stay in contention. Only 18 overs gone in this innings - it's the wickets column that's the biggest headache for the visitors.

Lancashire also need Notts to take 20 Warwickshire wickets. If that game is drawn, Lancashire are definitely down. Everything is against them.

  20. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 28 September

    Sussex v Middlesex 87-2

Jaydev Unadkat is into his sixth over and draws Sam Robson forward into a play and miss outside off stump as the opener tries to defend.

Tom Haines is into his second over from the Sea End and a late cut from Robson guides the ball to deep third for four runs.

Four more runs driven down the ground. Robson is on 43.
