  1. Eng 92-2published at 16 overs

Bobble hats being sported by members of the Australia backroom team on their balcony.

Harry Brook continues to show intent as he hurries down the pitch to the first ball of Mitchell Marsh's third over and clinically whips it through mid-wicket with a bit of a flourish.

The stand-in England skipper dispatches Marsh's penultimate delivery to the fence with a velvety push into the leg side.

    Thanks, Mike.

Quite tricky to know what a good score is here given the conditions. You'd have thought a slightly shorter game would probably suit England's batting more than Australia, mind.

  3. Eng 80-2published at 15 overs

Starc returns to replace Abbott, and Brook turns his opening delivery around the corner for four.

Duckett takes three firing the ball out to mid-wicket, before Brook fires a meaty shot out to the deep point fielder to close the over - deserved more than the single it got.

A reasonable start for England - here's Timothy Abraham to take you through the rest of their innings.

  4. Eng 72-2published at 14 overs

Time for Tuesday's centurion, here's England's stand-in skipper Harry Brook.

He takes a single, pushing the ball into the off side.

Same place, same shot and England are two down! It was hit with a little more power than Phil Salt but Will Jacks has mistimed that!

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.5 overs

    Jacks c Labuschagne b Marsh 10 (Eng 71-2)

Two down - and a mirror image of the first wicket.

Jacks edges Marsh's delivery to Labuschagne at point, with the Australian fielder leaping to his left to take a smart catch.

Disappointing for Jacks after his strong showing on Tuesday.

Tim, Alton Towers (not a rollercoaster person): Once he’s fit, I’m a huge advocate for Crawley with Duckett opening in ODIs. They compliment each other so well, and Crawley’s defence is probably a little more effective than Salt’s when the ball is moving about.

  8. Eng 69-1published at 13 overs

Jacks spots an opportunity and whips Abbott away through mid-wicket for four.

Hit uppishly but hard, easily making the ropes.

Why has Mitchell Marsh not bowled earlier?! He's moved the ball by miles!

  10. Eng 63-1published at 12 overs

Mitchell Marsh brings himself onto bowl, as Hazlewood slips out of the Australian attack.

He finds some decent movement early on, but goes too full with his fourth delivery and Duckett drives him confidently through mid-off for four.

Dom: I rate Salt but he's not really got going in ODIs, and has another low score today. Wonder if they'll start looking at other options soon?

  12. Eng 56-1published at 11 overs

Duckett gets four from the final ball of the over, firing Abbott's delivery back down the ground.

Prior to that review, England brought up their fifty from 10.2 overs, as Jacks took a single into the covers.

  13. Not outpublished at 10.4 overs

Pitching outside leg, with the right-handed Abbott bowling to the left-handed Duckett.

  14. Umpire reviewpublished at 10.4 overs

Duckett struck on the pads again, Australia go up again, Joel Wilson says no again.

...and Mitchell Marsh sends it upstairs again.

As much as it pains for me to say this, but Josh Hazlewood deserved that wicket. He's beaten the bat time and time again against Phil Salt!

  16. Eng 49-1published at 10 overs

Will Jacks gets off the mark straight away, knocking a single into the covers.

He made 84 at Chester-le-Street on Tuesday, putting on 156 for the third wicket with Harry Brook.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.4 overs

    Salt c Labuschagne b Hazlewood 22 (Eng 48-1)

    Australia make the breakthrough!

Phil Salt hadn't looked remotely comfortable against Starc and Hazlewood, and it's the latter of those who nabs him.

It's an outside edge to Marnus Labuschagne at point that brings a rather scratchy innings to a close.

I think a good total here would be somewhere around 220, because they've beaten the bat a lot here already.

Mark, Somerset: Today is the latest in the year that Lord's has hosted a men or women's international. The previous record was 24th September 2022, England v India women's ODI (the Deepti Sharma mankad of Charlie Dean match).

Feels like those back-to-back boundaries from Phil Salt will relieve a little bit of pressure for England.
