That is brilliant. The correct length because it tempted Balbirnie into the drive and he hits the top of off stump.

  4. wicket

    Balbirnie b Afridi 0 (Ire 0-1)

Nightmare start for the Irish as Shaheen Afridi clean bowls Andrew Balbirnie without a run on the board.

It was a perfect inswinger as Balbirnie looked back to see the wickets tumbling.

The expectations were far more elevated for Ireland coming into the tournament than the results have been.

The game against Canada was very deflating but they have the chance to end the tournament on a high.

  6. Ireland's batting woespublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 16 June

Anthems over and now it's time for the action with Ireland no doubt hoping for an improvement with the bat.

Seventeen is the highest score among the top five batters in the two games they have completed and that's not going to cut it at this level.

The experienced opening duo of Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie will be desperate to ensure the Irish get off to a much-needed strong start.

As a professional you always get up for the occasion. There will be frustrations form both teams. Pakistan have not played well throughout the tournament.

It's a real chance for them to show what they're really about.

  8. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 16 June

Ireland captain Paul Stirling: "We would have bowled first because it's been under the covers for a little while and it might do a bit up top. But we'll try to get through and put a good score on the board."

On playing Pakistan pre-tournament: "Good series but the World Cup brings a different scenario and another great game hopefully."

    Pakistan v Ireland (15:30 BST)

Welcome to our coverage of the final game in Group A and I bring you good news - we're finally going to see some cricket at Lauderhill after the opening three scheduled matches at the Florida venue were washed out.

Ireland take on Pakistan in what many expected to be a winner-takes-all showdown for second place and a spot in the Super 8s.

Instead, co-hosts USA have already sealed the runners-up position behind India so today's encounter is all about finishing a disappointing World Cup campaign with a flourish.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and they will field first.

    Thanks for joining us.
