Just when you think New Zealand have got themselves going in this series, they've had a collapse and loss of rhythm, but this has been a cracking start for them. There will be concern over how they play their spinners. The talking is done, it is now time for action now.

Alice Capsey has got that swagger and confidence that you really need to succeed at this level. It was here at Lord's where she first broke through in The Hundred.

Not a bad response to being whacked in the head from Capsey.

She whacks Devine over mid-off for four more, ensuring a positive end to the powerplay.

What a great start for New Zealand. How they have chopped and changed their bowlers in the powerplay is outstanding and it was great to see Amelia Kerr in the powerplay as well.

    Nasty!

Sophie Devine surprises Alice Capsey with a bouncer and it clatters into her helmet. She is OK, but we've got the mandatory concussion tests going and a new helmet.

  6. Eng 33-2published at 5 overs

Ah, frustration for Fran Jonas and New Zealand.

She strays down the leg side and Alice Capsey easily puts it away to the boundary. Completely releases the pressure.

New Zealand will want to pull out a performance today, but it's a free hit for them. They're playing at a great ground and in front of a great crowd too.

A really impressive start from Fran Jonas. It's looking like spin is harder to get away, so it will be interesting to see if New Zealand can adapt to it with more slower and harder balls. Two wickets in the powerplay is a great start.

    Soft!

Having just taken 10 off the last over, perhaps Bouchier gets a bit carried away here, trying to whack Fran Jonas down the ground but picks out Maddy Green at mid-on.

The New Zealand spinner has made a memorable start to her first Lord's appearance - the first balls of both her overs so far have taken wickets.

It's a lovely shot. Alice Capsey is just easing her way into this innings. It would've been a marvellous catch from Tahuhu, but there is too much power on it from Capsey.

    A costly and eventful over.

Alice Capsey whacks one back at the bowler but it'd be harsh to call it a drop - instead, it ricochets off Tahuhu's hand and away for four.

She ends the over with four more, clipped down to fine leg.

England are enjoying the extra pace on the ball, as we're so used to seeing.

If you're just joining us, England are looking to kick on after what can only be described as the most disastrous start.

That's a beautiful shot and that correctness of Bouchier's shot allowed her to get enough connection on the ball to send it down to the boundary.

  14. Eng 18-1published at 3.1 overs

And there is one of those risks.

Bouchier lofts the first ball from Lea Tahuhu down the ground for four! A decent enough ball, but an even better shot.

When you lose a player like Danni Wyatt so early, who normally provides that impetus, it means Maia Bouchier is having to take a couple of more risks.

Keeping the fast bowlers' union happy, here's Jess Kerr.

She's not the quickest but gets plenty of in-swing and rarely errs from a good length. Both Capsey and Bouchier try and charge down the pitch throughout the over, forcing something different, but can't get it away.

Just three from the over - New Zealand have started very well.

As a bowler, especially a swing bowler, you want that new ball. When spinners open the bowling, it's not going to swing as much, which would irk me.

  18. Eng 11-1published at 2 overs

Singles from the rest of the over as New Zealand look to test England with spin.

England's batters love pace on the ball, and have tucked in to plenty of loose bowling from New Zealand's seamers throughout the series so it's a fair tactic for them to try.

Maia Bouchier is technically a very correct player when she is batting.

  20. Eng 7-1published at 1.1 overs

Amelia Kerr, a senior player for New Zealand, gifts Bouchier a full toss to whip off her pads for England's first boundary.
