  1. Postpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 103-3 - target 377

Nick Gubbins brings up the Hampshire 100 in 36 overs with a careful front foot steer to backward point for a couple.

There's a long way to go before the second new ball is available and Hampshire are making good progress to whittle down this target in the meantime.

Fletcha Middleton plays down the wrong line to Matt Fisher and gets a thick outside edge safely to deep third for a single.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 14 April

Davies lbw b Raine 50 (Warwickshire 81-2, target 339 to beat Durham)

    BIG wicket.

Alex Davies has played beautifully but plays across the line, trying to clip the returning Ben Raine away into the leg side, but misses the ball and is pinned in front.

    Vital wicket for Durham.

Sam Hain joins Hamza Shaikh in the middle.

  3. Postpublished at 95 overs

    Notts 347 & 284-8 (lead by 264 runs) v Essex 367

The potential run rate for Essex now should they whip out the Notts tail for no further runs would be around the 3.6 runs per over mark.

That is manageable but the lines on the graph move in opposing directions the longer this goes on. Notts need to dangle a carrot if they are to land the win.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Alex Daviespublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 81-1, target 339 to beat Durham

The skipper brings up his half-century from 73 balls with nine, nicely-timed fours along the way.

    Leading by example.

Durham have mixed up their bowling, changing ends and bowlers, as they seek to find a way to break this partnership.

  5. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 176-3 f/o v Northants 496

A mixed over from Liam Guthrie, including a very full ball blocked into the off side and a bit of width outside off left alone.

Justin Broad will take the new ball from the Anderson End.

The first ball is leg side and clipped fine by Marcus Harris for one.

A much better over thereafter as Josh Bohannon is beaten outside off stump.

Another ball keeps low outside off which is a worry from a batting point of view.

  6. Hutton survivespublished at 94 overs

    Notts 281-8 & 347 (lead by 261 runs) v Essex 367

Shane Snater has a big shout for lbw against Brett Hutton but that looked to be going down leg side. Just.

Hutton has rubbed a little salt in the wound by pulling a well-struck boundary to deep midwicket to move to 22.

  7. 50 runs

50 partnership for Bearspublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 72-1, target 339 to beat Durham

Warwickshire are doing exactly what they need to do.

Alex Davies has moved steadily to 47* from 69 balls and Hamza Shaikh has 17* after a slightly nervy start and these two have added 50 for this second wicket so far.

The visitors are going along at 3.22 an over, needing 3.45 an over from here on to record what would be a fine win.

  8. new ball

New ball taken at Old Traffordpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 174-3 f/o v Northants 496

Rob Keogh is going to have a bowl for the first time this season.

There's a bit of drift and turn for the off spinner here as Josh Bohannon plays to extra cover.

Single on to the on side and Marcus Harris cuts the last ball away for one more.

That's 80 bowled in the innings. New ball?

Yes. Liam Guthrie is coming on.

  9. 'Batting out the day doesn't seem impossible'published at 12:13 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 95-3 - target 377 to beat Surrey

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It’s been a solid first hour's batting from Nick Gubbins and Fletcha Middleton.

The Oval pitch is playing pretty true under predominantly sunny conditions in the capital.

No more than a couple of ‘play and misses’ will settle everyone down in the Hampshire camp who are yet to bat.

It’s probably too many runs to chase down but the first objective of batting throughout the day doesn’t seem impossible. Even with only seven wickets to keep intact.

  10. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 95-3 - target 377

Surrey continue to attack with two slips in for Matt Fisher but there's little devil in this Oval surface.

however, Fisher gets one to cut back sharply from well outside off and that ball passes over the top of the stumps.

A good leave by Nick Gubbins on length nonetheless.

  11. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 14 April

Derbyshire 19-1, target 449 to beat Leicestershire

Breakthrough for Leicestershire as Logan van Beek tempts David Lloyd into a drive, only to flash an edge to Peter Handscomb who takes a neat catch going to his right at second slip.

Harry Came joins Caleb Jewell in the middle.

Five in the match for van Beek, and he might not be done there...

  12. Postpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 172-3 f/o v Northants 496

There's a hint of turn for leg spinner Calvin Harrison now and again but this ball is short as Marcus Harris misses a pull shot and runs a leg bye.

    That ball hardly bounced.

  13. 'It's hard work to take these wickets'published at 12:08 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hampshire 93-3 - target 377

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's going to be hard work to take these wickets.

It's a good batting surface, there's no gremlins in it.

Fletcha Middleton and Nick Gubbins are doing exactly what they need to do, making it as difficult as possible for the bowlers.

  14. Postpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 93-3 - target 377

Jordan Clark is in the attack, bowling round the wicket to Nick Gubbins, who plays with soft hands to nudge the ball away off side for a single.

It's a little grey and blustery at the Oval currently but the rain is staying away for now.

Matt Fisher foxes Fletcha Middleton in his next over with a ball that straightens a fraction off the seam, pasing the bat on the way to keeper Ben Foakes. Great delivery.

Single to Middleton nudged with an angled bat into the off side.

  15. Postpublished at 50 overs

    Somerset 165-6 & 201 (target 595) v Sussex 294 & 501-7d

Plenty riding on this pairing for Somerset with Tom Abell (79*) and Lewis Gregory (5*) the last two you could feasibly see batting for the hours needed if the visitors are to rescue a draw from this.

Jack Leach is in at 10 and might disagree given his exploits at Headingley when his famous 1* in a partnership of 76 with Ben Stokes brought home victory in the Ashes in 2019.

But the fact Migael Pretorius comes in after the spinner does not inspire confidence.

  16. Postpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 14 April

Derbyshire 14-0, target 449 to beat Leicestershire

Steady, but not explosive start from David Lloyd and Caleb Jewell at Grace Road.

The ask is ticking up towards 5.5 an over, but they'll seek to build a platform, if only to prevent the hosts from putting themselves in position to win it on the final afternoon.

  17. Postpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 168-3 f/o v Northants 496

Marcus Harris battingImage source, Rex Features

Marcus Harris moves serenely into double figures with four runs driven through extra cover off Saif Zaib.

Zaib follows that up with five dot balls on a tight off stump line.

The new ball is available in five overs. The deficit is 100.

  18. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 14 April

Glamorgan 139-3 - trail Gloucestershire by 22 runs

The floodlights have flickered on at Bristol as the hosts seek to oust one of Kiran Carlson and Colin Ingram, who are in no hurry to whittle down this 22 run deficit, content to block wherever needed.

  19. Postpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 85-3 - target 377

Dan Lawrence is round the wicket to Fletcha Middleton, who goes back to drive through the off side for a couple.

That's the 50 partnership with Nick Gubbins off 88 balls.

Solid start for Hampshire this morning.

Shot! Nick Gubbins latches on to a loose off side ball from off spinner Dan Lawrence to crash the bowler through extra cover for four.

Warwickshire require 283 more runs to beat Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Warwickshire have reached 50 in their pursuit of 339 to beat Durham on the final day. It took them an hour and two minutes.

There's still plenty of time left with 84 overs remaining but we have also seen a reminder of why it is not wise to leave a ball on this track. Rob Yates was on three when he did that to a delivery from Ben Raine which was also heading towards off-stump.

Meanwhile at the other end Alex Davies is batting nicely and timing the ball well and has so far hit eight fours.

Brendan Doggett replaced Ben Raine at The Lumley End but clearly didn't like running into a stiff breeze, so he's now switched ends and will have the wind on his back instead.
