Glamorgan 118-1 - trail Gloucestershire by 44 runs

Eddie Byrom has fallen for 48 as Glamorgan lose their first wicket of their second innings, Cameron Bancroft taking the catch in the slips off Matt Taylor.

Sam Northeast joins Zain ul Hassan (55*) with his side still 44 runs in arrears and needing to bat out the day, or at least until Mother Nature makes an appearance...

  3. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 46-3 - target 377

Four runs to Fletcha Middleton, driving a full length ball outside off stump from Dan Worrall via a thick edge just wide of a diving third slip.

Plenty of scoreboard pressure for Hampshire but there are no demons in this pitch so this game just might be a close one if this Hampshire pair of Middleton and Nick Gubbins get set.

A second wicket of the morning for Essex with Shane Snater getting another to leave the pitch and fox a lower order batsman, Lyndon James departing for a single.

  5. 'Hampshire will want to make it as difficult as possible'published at 11:15 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hampshire 42-3 - target 377

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Surrey would've been pleased to pick up those three wickets yesterday.

It will be a bit more challenging to get these seven. Dom Sibley said exactly that yesterday at the close of play.

Hampshire will want to make it as difficult as possible for Surrey.

  6. Postpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 133-2 f/o v Northants 496

Josh Bohannon is rock solid in defence, blocking Liam Guthrie down the ground.

Guthrie tries a short ball and Bohannon ducks.

Two slips in. The fifth ball is wider and driven through extra cover for four runs.

The leg spin of Calvin Harrison is on show at the other end, bowling to Anderson Phillip, who has soaked up 35 balls without scoring a run.

He has a silly point, slip and forward short leg for company.

Phillip leaves well outside off stump to see out a maiden over.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.1 overs

    Rew c Haines b Seales 20 (Somerset 126-5, target 595) v Sussex 294 & 501-7d

Big wicket early for Sussex as they hunt a first top flight win here at Hove since 2015, James Rew edging into the slip cordon where Tom Haines takes the catch.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 14 April

Yates b Raine 3 (Warwickshire 22-1, target 339 to beat Durham)

    The worst type of leave...

Ben Raine gets one to nip back at least a foot and with Rob Yates shouldering arms, his off-stump goes cartwheeling away.

The perfect start for Durham, a nightmare for Yates and the Bears.

Hamza Shaikh comes in on a pair...

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 14 April

    Leicestershire 302-9 - lead Derbyshire by 393

Jack Morley picks up his third scalp of the innings as Leicestershire's Ben Green holes out to Martin Andersson for 22.

You'd think the hosts will want to get past that psychological 400 barrier before declaring.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 75.3 overs

    Ahmed c Pepper b Snater 1 (Notts 235-6 & 347, lead by 215) v Essex 367

And the nightwatch is over for Farhan Ahmed who edges behind in the second over of the morning.

  11. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 39-3 - target 377

A good start for Nick Gubbins and Hampshire as Kemar Roach drops a tad short and wide inviting Gubbins to drive firmly through cover for four runs.

Dan Worrall takes the next over and he is getting the ball to hoop in and nibble away off the seam.

Three slips in and the pressure is on.

  12. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 20-0, target 339 to beat Durham

Nicely-timed clip off the hip from Alex Davies sends Matty Potts' slightly stray delivery racing away to the rope at deep square.

One of those is all they need every over.

The Bears are 20-0 from six overs, with Davies on 18* from 20 balls.

  13. 'Our thoughts with the Stewart family'published at 11:05 British Summer Time 14 April

  15. Day Four under way at Old Traffordpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 126-2 f/o v Northants 496

We might get a bit of bad weather this afternoon so Northants may well for for all out attack to try and wrap this up in a session.

They still have a cushion of 142 runs before they would need to bat again.

Josh Bohannon is 67 not out and he will face Aussie seam bowler Liam Guthrie to start the final day.

One slip, a leg slip and a short leg are in place.

Anderson Phillip came in as night watchman on Sunday evening and he's yet to get off the mark.

  16. Day four under way at Trent Bridgepublished at 74 overs

    Notts 347 & 233-5 (lead by 213 runs) v Essex 367

So can any of these two grab the win?

Simon Harmer has the ball in hand as play gets underway and Jack Haynes is facing on 49 with Farhan Ahmed on 0.

  17. Final day begins at the Ovalpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 35-3 - target 377

Hampshire have all day to reach that target but it's the wickets and the quality of Surrey's attack that give cause for concern.

Fletcha Middleton survived the onslaught on Sunday evening on 11 not out and he will face Kemar Roach to get us started.

Nick Gubbins is five not out at the non-striker's end.

Remember, two of those wickets to fall last night were from the tail, brought in to protect the top order.

We have news that Surrey CCC have released a statement on the passing of Lynn Stewart, wife of Alec Stewart.

Flags will be flown at half mast over the members' pavilion for the remainder of this match.

Ben Raine takes the opening over of an intriguing final day.

Rob Yates on strike and Alex Davies at the other end...

  19. Surrey in the box seatpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 53-3 - target 377 to beat Surrey

Dom Sibley celebratesImage source, Rex Features

The county champions battled through to what may turn out to be a vital draw in the season opener and now they have a whole day's play (if weather allows) to take seven Hampshire wickets for under 342 runs.

The hosts owe a huge debt of gratitude to Dom Sibley, who quite honestly has had runs coming out of his boot laces.

He's followed up his second innings 66 spread over 77 overs at Chelmsford last week by becoming only the 20th player in Surrey's history to score a first class century in each innings of a match to help his team to an imposing target.

Jordan Clark has had a fine game himself, taking five wickets in the match to date, including two Hampshire night watchmen in the Sunday evening gloom just before the close.

Fletcha Middleton remains there for a stoic 11 and Nick Gubbins survived the late onslaught to resume on five not out and Hampshire need substantial runs from them and elsewhere in the order.

  20. Sussex in the Hunt for six of the best to see-off Somersetpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 14 April

    Somerset 201 & 125-4 (target 595 runs) v Sussex 294 &501-6d

Sean Hunt celebratesImage source, Rex Features
    Image caption,

Sean Hunt has all four Somerset wickets to fall in the second innings

Somerset may take inspiration from the last day rearguard which denied them victory against Worcs in the opening round after they took nine wickets but no win.

But if they are to get anything out of this game beyond the three bonus points they have already bagged, they will need the current partnership of Tom Abell and James Rew to bat long and big.

Abell returns on 60 and Rew on 19 but beyond next in Lewis Gregory, Somerset don't have a look of a lower order that could defy Sussex's bowlers for sessions let alone hours.

Left arm seamer Sean Hunt has been the pick of the Sussex bowlers with nine wickets in the match and it looks long odds on he will complete a first 10 wicket first class match haul.

If he does the chances are that a first County Championship Division One win for Sussex since September 2015 and a first at Hove since May of that year, will be theirs.
