Did anyone run the marathon today? How's your ticker?

Heart rates have been fluttering around our cricket grounds today for sure.

Surrey are celebrating their first win of the season after blasting Somerset out for 119 on second innings, with five of those wickets falling for four runs within six overs.

They lost a couple of wickets chasing 36, but the nerves in the Surrey dressing room were absolutely nothing compared to the tension at Bristol where Leicestershire completed a nerve-shredding two-wicket win over Gloucestershire chasing 143 to take charge at the top of Division Two.

Notts managed an altogether calmer chase to beat Sussex by nine wickets at their HQ to retain top spot on the Division One table for this round, while Middlesex have a way to go at Derbyshire, closing on 60-1 following on and 97 behind on second innings.

That's the last game standing in this round, but we'll be back tomorrow to bring you all the action from Der-bados.

See you just before 11:00 BST.

  3. 'A very intriguing day tomorrow'published at 18:24 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 60-1 (f/o)

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

It's set up for a very intriguing day tomorrow.

They should get parity around lunchtime and may have to bat right until teatime for a result.

  4. Close of play at Derbypublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 60-1 (f/o) trail by 97 runs

Max Holden pushes another four off through cover off the penultimate delivery of the day from Jack Morley before wrapping up a day with a dot.

It has been a day which Middlesex have ended on the back foot but there will be some satisfaction in the away dressing room that they have negotiated a half session relatively successfully losing just one wicket tonight.

They will need plenty of steel with the bat tomorrow after being outplayed so far – too many of their number getting starts but not big scores in a second innings that left them following on.

  5. Postpublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 56-1 (f/o), trail by 101 runs

Stephen Eskinazi gets a single behind point off the first delivery of the over from David Lloyd to get himself off strike.

Max Holden puts him back on it with a firm bunt on the on side from the fourth delivery.

Middlesex will finish the day just one (or worse case) two down which they would have taken after Nathan Fernandes went first ball.

Jack Morley to bowl the last over.

  6. Surrey return to winning ways as Jordan Clark shinespublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 367 & 36-2 v Somerset 283 & 119

Surrey are celebrating an epic win with a day to spare at the Oval, which has lifted the county champions from seventh to second in this round of matches.

Their resurgence is due in no small part to the bowling of Jordan Clark on a surface offering some movement and occasional uneven bounce.

He took eight wickets in a match where several players made significant scores without going on to reach a century and was instrumental in engineering a dramatic Somerset collapse, taking three out of five wickets that fell in rapid succession for eight runs after lunch.

He was full of praise for his team mate and keeper Ben Foakes, who took an absolutely stunning one-handed catch at full stretch to remove Migael Pretorius, the mainstay of the Somerset resistance today for 54.

Jordan Clark told BBC Radio London's Mark Church:

"It just happens like that sometimes. You know at the Oval, if you're there and thereabouts, it can happen quick. I feel like it was a really good surface to bowl on. But if you miss, I feel like runs were there to have."

    On Ben Foakes:

"Yeah, absolutely outstanding. In fact, today was the only time I've heard Foakesy say that was actually a really good catch. Normally it's just like breakfast for him and it's something he expects all the time."

  7. 'They've not crumbled'published at 18:13 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 54-1 (f/o)

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

I think Middlesex would have taken this.

They still trail by over 100, but they've not crumbled.

  8. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 54-1 (f/o) trail by 103 runs

Derbys are not letting these two settle on any one style of bowling with Jack Morley now back on.

His second delivery is hoiked to the rope behind square by Max Holden to bring the 50 up for Middlesex.

Seemed a bit of a risky shot that one and not quite sure why he is letting the handbrake off now with just over two overs left.

  9. Postpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 48-1 (f/o, trail by 109 runs)

Four overs left and David Lloyd is on for Derbys – the sixth bowler used in this 19 over late session. His first ball is cut away by Max Holden for a single.

Penny for the thoughts of the out batsman Nathan Fernandes as he watches these two blocking and nudging and looking in no trouble whatsoever.

Lloyd's fifth ball does beat the bat though and the wicketkeeper as it turns and goes for two byes.

  10. 'They would love another wicket'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 38-1 (f/o)

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Derbyshire have got another four overs to claim another wicket.

They would love to get another one before the close.

  11. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 38-1 (f/o, trail by 119 runs)

Zak Chappell is trying to tempt the Middlesex pair into a rash shot by hanging the ball out in the fifth stump channel and inviting the drive.

It is an invitation that neither Stephen Eskinazi or Max Holden are tempted to take up though with a lot of arms being shouldered.

  12. Postpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 35-1 (f/o)

Alex Thomson concedes singles on the first and last balls of his second over as this match meanders towards a close on day three.

Stephen Eskinazi and Max Holden are quite rightly trying to reach it unbroken and are not taking any chances.

  13. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 33-1 (f/o)

Another tidy over from Zak Chappell costs four more, Stephen Eskinazi leaning into a nice cover drive on the final delivery and running three.

Just seven overs left in this session with Middlesex still 124 adrift.

Luis Reece is back out on the field which is good news for Derbys given he limped off earlier.

  14. 'A lot of movement off the seam'published at 17:50 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 30-1 (f/o)

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

There's a lot of movement off the seam at the moment.

    Eskinazi has recognised that.

They still trail by 127 runs.

  15. Notts stay top after win v Sussexpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 300 & 148-1 beat Sussex 169 & 278 by nine wickets

The scorebook points to a comfortable Notts win.

But this was a hard-fought contest by two teams who began the round vying for top spot in the table.

Had it not been for a ninth-wicket stand of 71 between Liam Patterson-White and Josh Tongue, Notts would've fallen well below 300 on first innings after routing Sussex for 169.

Sussex drop one spot to third with a home match to come v the Pears on Friday week while Notts remain first and also miss the next round of games before a home match v Hampshire.

Notts captain Haseeb Hameed told the ECB reporter's network:

"We knew it was a big game for us, a top-of-table clash, so it’s really pleasing to come out with a win."

    On the ninth-wicket stand:

"The way the lower order fought to get us to 300 was massive as well after we had lost a few wickets yesterday morning.

"For Liam Patterson-White to come in for his first game back was outstanding, with both bat and ball throughout the game."

    Sussex coach Paul Farbrace said:

“Notts have played very well but we are disappointed with the way we have lost the game.“The first morning the ball did a lot before lunch and we lost wickets but in the afternoon we had a chance to play better and score some runs and we didn’t take advantage of that.

"Probably it was a 250-260 wicket, so straight away you are looking at a 70-80 run gap."

  16. Postpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 29-1 (f/o)

More spin but Alex Thomson replaces Jack Morley who is off the field.

No surprise Middlesex pair Stephen Eskinazi and Max Holden are showing limited ambition given the need for a long partnership and that there are just eight overs left in the day.

Singles bookend Thomson's over as Middlesex now trail by 128.

  17. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 27-1 (f/o)

Zak Chappell has a very economical and smooth action and his over to Max Holden has been similarly effective with no runs from it as the Middlesex batter blocks six balls back to him.

  18. 'Middlesex still trail'published at 17:41 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 27-1 (f/o)

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

There will be a venomous approach from Derbyshire's attack tonight to grab a few more wickets.

Middlesex still trail by quite a bit.

  19. Postpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 27 April

    Derbys 472 v Middx 315 & 27-1 (f/o)

Blair Tickner and Jack Morley have been bowling spin in tandem now with Stephen Eskinazi taking guard.

The third delivery from Morley is short, wide and cut firmly by the Middlesex opener through point for a boundary.

Middx still trail by 130. Derbys have gone for a change up in pace with Zak Chappell now on.
