The plan worked. It has been Brave's powerplay.

Melie Kerr was looking dangerous and powerful and now Originals are in all sorts of trouble.

  2. wicket

    Kerr c Tryon b Bell 14 (Ori 23-3)

A wicket from the last ball of the powerplay!

Lauren Bell has her second scalp and it's another key Originals batter in Melie Kerr.

The New Zealand batter goes for an elaborate paddle and lifts the ball straight to Chloe Tryon at short fine leg.

Catching practice for the South African, she's not dropping that.

You can see that Brave have a very clear plan against Melie Kerr. The fielders back of square and backwards of point are very tight.

But Kerr is finding the gaps, brilliant from her.

  4. wicket

    Originals 20-2published at 22 balls

Nicely done by Melie Kerr, easing Lauren Bell's second delivery down to the boundary at backward point.

    Her first boundary.

There looks to be a bit of movement on this pitch for the bowlers, if you can set the right pitch that is. That's what Brave are trying to do against Melie Kerr.

  6. Originals 16-2published at 20 balls

Melie Kerr, number two in the world all-rounder rankings for T20s, has a rebuilding job on her hands.

She takes three runs off Sophie Devine's second set.

What a big wicket! Mooney didn't quite get going. A fantastic low-diving catch from Danni Wyatt-Hodge. She never misses those, she is a brilliant fielder.

  8. Originals 13-2published at 15 balls

New batter Eve Jones gets off the mark straight away with a two turned round the corner.

She then adds a single out to deep square.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12 balls

    Mooney c Wyatt-Hodge b Villiers 1 (Ori 12-2)

Here's the spin of Mady Villiers... and she gets a wicket with her second ball!

It's a big one too, world number one batter and Originals captain Beth Mooney.

The Australian cuts to Danni Wyatt-Hodge at point, who takes the catch just above the ground while falling to her right.

    Originals in early trouble.

  10. Originals 10-1published at 10 balls

Sophie Devine takes the second set for Southern Brave, bowling to her international team-mate Melie Kerr.

Just two singles from the five deliveries.

  11. Originals 8-1published at 5 balls

New Zealand's Melie Kerr walks out at number three, and gets four straight away, cutting to the ropes at backward point.

Bell sends down an off side wide and then finishes her eight-ball set with a dot delivery.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3 balls

    Bryce b Bell 0 (Ori 3-1)

    Second-ball duck for Kathryn Bryce!

Lauren Bell starts with two leg side wides before thudding a delivery into the pads of Beth Mooney - nothing from the umpire and the Australian runs a leg bye.

Bryce misses her first two deliveries - the first outside off, the second nipping in and clattering the stumps.

A big early breakthrough for Southern Brave.
