    He goes again!

Again, the first ball of an Adam Zampa over is launched over the ropes as Sediqullah dispatches one over mid-wicket.

Beautiful shot. Not too bad of a ball, a bit wide, and not too much swing on offer. Sediqullah Atal was good enough to steer it behind.

Afghanistan just need that 100 run partnership from somewhere.

If you can get that 100-150 run partnership, it's then easy for the lower order to come in and play that cameo innings.

    Shot!

Four more to Sediqullah Atal, as Nathan Ellis offers far too much width to be carved past point.

Ellis responds well to trap the batter on the pads, and delivers an enthusiastic - but solo - appeal to the umpire. Steve Smith isn't convinced into reviewing it, despite Ellis' best attempts.

  4. Afg 139-3published at 28 overs

Great comeback from Adam Zampa, just two more singles from the rest of his over.

That was Sediqullah's second six so far - the first helped him bring up his fifty in some style.

Initially, my heart was in my mouth. I thought Sediqullah Atal had hacked it up in the air, but he just got enough on it.

Afghanistan have got to try and break some of the pressure that Adam Zampa is creating. They can't let him settle as he's too good.

    Lovely!

Sediqullah releases the shackles with a beautiful lofted drive down the ground for six.

Hashmatullah Shahidi's role is to keep giving the strike back. You don't want to rack up the dot balls as that will put Sediqullah Atal under pressure.

  8. Afg 131-3published at 27 overs

Just a couple of singles off Nathan Ellis' over as Australia continue to apply the pressure.

Frustration is building for the skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi, who has 10 from 30 balls.

I think the honours are even.

Australia have clawed themselves back into the game. They will be happy to pick up the danger men from previous games. Their spinners have bowled OK.

Jonathan Trott will be pleased with this start, as there's something to build upon.

  10. Afg 129-3published at 26 overs

    Thanks, Elizabeth.

Quite a cautious start from Afghanistan, but they showed against England a couple of days ago that they are capable of finishing powerfully.

Ibrahim Zadran's innings was the key then, so Sediqullah - who is currently unbeaten on 62 - is setting himself up to play a similar role today.

  11. Afg 126-3published at 25 overs

Steve Smith turns back to pace for the 25th over, with Ben Dwarshuis returning to the attack.

Sediqullah Atal and Hashmatullah Shahidi run hard to keep the scoreboard moving before Sediqullah gets his arms through a shorter ball for four. An expensive over from Dwarshuis.

And with that, I'm going to disappear for a bit. Ffion Wynne will take your through the rest of Afghanistan's innings.

  12. Afg 116-3published at 24 overs

The camera picks out Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott, pen in hand, during the 24th over. His expression gives absolutely nothing away.

    Three runs from it.

  13. Afg 113-3published at 23 overs

Boundaries for both batters from Glenn Maxwell's sixth over. 11 runs to Afghanistan's total.

A terrific shot. Great use of the feet.

Not much turn from Glenn Maxwell, sliding into the left handers arc. Sediqullah Atal has hung in there when it's been tough.

  15. 6 runs

50 for Sediqullahpublished at 22.1 overs

It's 50 for Sediqullah Atal and he seals it with a monstrous six over deep midwicket.

It's been a lovely knock from the 23-year-old but his job is far from over. Afghanistan will need a big knock from their No.3.

  16. Afg 102-3published at 22 overs

Afghanistan are into three figures. They're ticking along.

  17. Afg 99-3published at 21.3 overs

That was a run out opportunity for Australia.

Sediqullah Atal pushes the ball into the on side but there's hesitation over whether or not to take the single. Nathan Ellis throws the ball to wicketkeeper Josh Inglis but Steve Smith wanted it to go to the bowler's end.

    Afghanistan survive.

Afghanistan need a partnership of some substance. They've been a bit guilty of players getting in and getting out.

  19. Afg 98-3published at 21 overs

Like many of his colleagues today, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi is making a slow start to his innings.

He has one run from 12 deliveries so far.

Australia have managed to put the brakes on a little bit. A few cheap wickets. Sediqullah Atal is still in there and he's going well.
