  1. Afg 94-3published at 20 overs

Matt Short replaces Adam Zampa in the attack. Just a single off the 20th over.

  2. Afg 93-3published at 19 overs

It's another big over for Australia.

Afghanistan add six runs to their total but they're back in the rebuilding stage once again following the departure of Rahmat Shah.

Again, it's a cross seamer from Glenn Maxwell.

Big edge and a lovely catch behind the stumps. A wicket from nothing.

Afghanistan lose a third wicket and it's a big one.

    Rahmat c Inglis b Maxwell 12 (Afg 91-3)

    Edged and gone!

Rahmat Shah will not be happy about that. One ball after pulling Glenn Maxwell for four, he's on his way back to the dugout after getting an outside edge which goes through to Josh Inglis.

    Australia are taking control.

There's a lot more calmness about Afghanistan, that's for sure.

That's a gimme. If the Afghanistan batters are given an opportunity to score, they will. They have a wonderful ability of putting you away.

  6. Afg 87-2published at 18 overs

This has been a really mature innings from Sediqullah Atal. He's settled down after his nervy start and is really taking his opportunities against any poor ball that Australia chuck his way.

  7. Afg 87-2published at 17.4 overs

Four easy runs for Sediqullah Atal, who picks off a fuller delivery off Adam Zampa and dispatches the ball over mid-off.

    A lovely shot.

Would love it, should Afghanistan win and Australia need England to do them a favour in the final game tomorrow!

  10. drinks break

Drinks break - Afg 80-2published at 17 overs

There's a little bit of pressure starting to creep into Afghanistan's innings, with Australia's spinners really restricting their scoring opportunities.

However, the scoreboard gets moving again as a misfield allows Rahmat Shah through for three.

    Time for drinks.

  11. Afg 75-2published at 16 overs

Afghanistan have only scored seven runs in four overs since spinners Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa came into the attack.

Still, we're only 16 overs into the innings. There's plenty of time for momentum to swing again.

  12. Afg 71-2published at 15 overs

Maiden from Glenn Maxwell, with new batter Rahmat Shah happy to defend.

That over took no time at all.

  13. Afg 71-2published at 14 overs

So often, it's Adam Zampa who comes up with the big wickets for Australia and he's done it again today, removing Ibrahim Zadran and breaking a promising second-wicket partnership.

However, there's plenty of firepower left in this Afghanistan XI. What can Rahmat Shah, who scored 90 against South Africa, do today?

Something out of nothing for the Aussies. It's an absolute treat for Australia.

A wicket they needed to get back into this contest. The century-maker against England has gone.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.3 overs

    Ibrahim c Labuschagne b Zampa 22 (Afg 70-2)

An immediate impact from Adam Zampa. The dangerous Ibrahim Zadran is out.

Ibrahim has gifted Australia a wicket, picking out Marnus Labuschagne at backward point.

That's a huge breakthrough for Australia and a good bowling change from Steve Smith.

The Afghanistan spinners will be excited to see what's in this wicket. Afghanistan going well at the moment, you would say advantage them.

  17. Afg 70-1published at 13 overs

Glenn Maxwell broke Afghanistan's hearts with the bat when these sides last met in an ODI.

What can he do with the ball today? Well, it's a tidy start, yielding just two singles.

And it'll be spin from both ends, with Adam Zampa coming into the attack.

Time for a bit of spin. It's Glenn Maxwell.

  19. Afg 68-1published at 12 overs

I wonder if Sediqullah Atal and Ibrahim Zadran are fans of the Spencer Davis Group, because they really do just Keep On Running. I'll get my coat...

It's a pretty tight over from Nathan Ellis but Afghanistan still add five to their total.

The strength of Afghanistan is in this middle order, that's where the runs come from.

They'll be in their dressing room thinking this is a great start. To win big games of cricket you have got to do the basics well.

It's something that's overlooked at times.
