    Warks 379-6 v Sussex 528

The follow-on is averted for Warwickshire as Kai Smith collects his maiden first-class runs by forcing away Jayden Seales for three.

Does anyone fancy betting against the draw now? Thought not...

  2. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 459-8 v Durham 378

Can Lyndon James become the first Notts batter into three figures?

He cuts Ben Raine expansively down to third man but it's just a single to go to 76.

He's the fourth Nottinghamshire batter to pass 70, but neither Ben Slater (92), Freddie McCann (79) nor Matt Montgomery (75) could turn it into a century.

A lot will depend on whether Josh Tongue can hang with him.

    The lead is 81.

  3. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 6 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 250-6

Jordan Clark pulls Sam Cook over the backward square-leg fence for a maximum.

He then scampers a single to earn Surrey a first batting point.

  4. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hants 18-0 - target 148

Yorkshire captain Jonny Bairstow has the shades on behind the stumps - yes, it is only April, we haven't fast forwarded to July.

What can he do to conjure a wicket and sow a small seed of doubt in the minds of the Hampshire batters to come?

A good over by Jack White ticks by. It's a maiden.

    Mousley LBW Carson 63 (Warks 375-6 v Sussex 528)

Dan Mousley has done all the hard work but is pinned LBW by Jack Carson as he attempts a sweep.

They are three runs short of the follow-on target.

  6. 'Notts will be delighted with three figure lead'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 454-8 v Durham 378

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It's a chance for Lyndon James to move ahead and add as many runs as he possibly can here before Nottinghamshire are eventually bowled out.

It will happen but if they can get this lead of 75 up to three figures I think they'll be absolutely delighted.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38.1 overs

    Ali c Overton b Leach 51 (Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 116-4)

Worcestershire are really under the pump now.

Kashif Ali goes just two overs after bringing up his fifty. He takes a few steps down the pitch to Jack Leach but cloths him straight to Craig Overton at mid-off.

The big fella doesn't drop those and Leach has 3-44.

    Brett D'Oliveira joins Adam Hose.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 6 April

    Higgins b Balderson 43 (Middx 260 & 113-4 v Lancs 359)

The answer to our recent question is 'no'.

Ryan Higgins won't be following Max Holden to 50 as he has been bowled by George Balderson, ending a stand of 106.

Ben Geddes is the new Middlesex batter - they lead by 14.

  9. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 116-3

It's 13 time lucky for Adam Hose as he gets off the mark with a single off Craig Overton to his 13th ball.

Overton responds by running one past his outside edge later in the same over but then his radar slips, allowing Hose to tickle it off his pads and down to the rope for his first boundary.

  10. Division Two updatepublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 6 April

David Lloyd has his second wicket of the afternoon, trapping Tom Price lbw for 26, and Gloucestershire are 241-8, a lead of 73 over Derbyshire.

Glamorgan are still up against it, but Chris Cooke hit two fours off successive balls from Tom Scriven and they are 72-5, needing another 126 to avoid an innings defeat by Leicestershire.

With Max Holden having reached 50, eyes are now on Ryan Higgins to see if he can do likewise for Middlesex - he is 43 not out in their 113-3 against Lancashire and they lead by 14.

  11. 50 runs

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 238-6

Jordan Clark crashes Sam Cook away for four to bring up the 50 stand with Ben Foakes.

Clark has scored 33 of the 52 they have added.

The new ball has been flashing about a bit and if anything has relieved the pressure on Surrey.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Kashif Alipublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 110-3

Bad ball from Jack Leach and Kashif Ali cashes in, dispatching it through point for four.

Next ball he drops back on the back foot and carves Leach for back-to-back boundaries to bring up his fifty off 85 balls.

His ninth first-class fifty has featured eight fours.

The deficit is cut to 406.

  13. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 369-5 v Sussex 528

Dan Mousley picks up Fynn Hudson-Prentice over mid-wicket for six.

The umpires want a look at the ball after it thudded into some of those white Edgbaston seats.

They check it and toss it to the bowlers.

  14. 'Pears will feel better if they get a big score'published at 14:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 102-3

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

You've got the real possibility here that Worcestershire could bat really well in their second innings and get 400 and still lose by an innings, which is pretty daunting.

But if they were to get a big score in the second innings, they'd at least go away feeling a little bit better, I think.

for Max Holdenpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middx 269 & 110-3 v Lancs 359

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Lords was pretty quiet when Middlesex were reduced to 7-3, still 92 runs behind Lancashire, this morning but the members have enjoyed seeing the recovery work being done by Max Holden and Ryan Higgins.

They both made it to lunch, and have continued since the break and reached a century partnership.

Lancashire are probing away but patience could be key this afternoon and Holden has just reached his second 50 of the game with a single off George Balderson.

  16. 'Steady progress from Warwickshire'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 363-5 v Sussex 528

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Warwickshire are making steady progress towards their initial target of avoiding any potential follow-on

Ed Barnard and Dan Mousley have just completed their century partnership, and both have passed their fifties, and haven’t looked in any real trouble against the new ball which was taken just before lunch.

The pitch is offering precious little for the bowlers and the draw is becoming increasing likely

  17. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 447-8 v Durham 378

Matthew Potts has worked hard through 30 overs and after that two-wicket burst is now hunting a five-for.

Lyndon James pinches a single off his first ball before Josh Tongue's pushes uppishly through the offside to get off the mark with three runs.

His first championship runs in a Nottinghamshire shirt. It also takes Potts into three figures for runs conceded.

The lead reaches a handy, if not decisive, 69 runs.

  18. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hants 10-0 - target 148

Jack White comes up for the final ball of his opening over and Fletcha Middleton drives it handsomely for four.

That's a confident stroke - perhaps suggestive that Hampshire are keen to prevent the Yorkshire bowlers applying any pressure.
