We may be just a few minutes away from the close but Brett D'Oliveira still looks fresh and in good nick.

Jamie Porter's fourth delivery thuds into Rory Burns' pads and the LBW shout might be heard back at The Oval.

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio WM

We did say it was going to be an interesting final session today and it's proving to be that.

The scoring has dried up a little bit and I'm not quite sure what that's telling us yet about how the game is might play out, but it's very interesting.

    Warks 454 v Sussex 528 & 94-2

We've still got the best part of 11 overs to go at Edgbaston and now there is a pause while James Coles has some attention.

The players take a drink as well.

The Sussex physio has a bobble hat on!

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 266-4

Kasey Aldridge is hitting the pitch hard and Brett D'Oliveira has to be on his toes to turn a rising delivery around the corner for a single.

It brings up the 150 for the fifth-wicket stand with Adam Hose, off 276 balls.

They came together with Worcestershire in real jeopardy of a quick defeat and are seeing off the new ball nicely.

One over to go before the new ball and Kiran Carlson tries to hook a short delivery from Ben Mike.

It takes the top edge and Liam Trevaskis dives forward at fine leg to take an excellent catch and end Carlson's 214-ball innings.

Carlson put on 99 for the eighth wicket with Andy Gorvin, who has now been joined by Shoaib Bashir.

    Glamorgan are 34 ahead.

Brett D'Oliveira plays out six dots to Kasey Aldridge's first over back and then Adam Hose does likewise to Craig Overton.

    Five to go at Taunton.

If this pair can hang on to the close, it will be a superb effort. Sorry to jinx it, but would the Pears have hope?

Essex have enforced the follow-on and Surrey will restart in a few minutes.

Worcestershire's fifth wicket pair of Brett D’Oliveira and Adam Hose are showing proper application as the Pears try to save the game against Somerset after Tom Banton’s heroics.

There’s still a very long way to go but after being outplayed for most of the match, the visitors are at least demonstrating true grit.

50 up for Durhampublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 53-2

Ben McKinney has had a tricky start but is perhaps now finding his feet.

He claims his third boundary of the second knock, and then takes a single off Fergus O'Neill to bring up the Durham 50.

It has not come without cost.

Century-maker Lyndon James is thrown the ball for his first over. He'll replace Dillon Pennington from the Stuart Broad End.

  12. New ball taken at Lord'spublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middx 260 & 261-4 v Lancs 359

Lancashire skipper Keaton Jennings wastes no time in calling up Tom Bailey for a burst with the unsullied cherry before stumps.

There are 11 overs left in the day and the Red Rose will be hoping for a positive finish after earlier having Middlesex 7-3 in their second innings.

  13. Postpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 263-4

An eventful over as Craig Overton attempts to get the new ball talking.

Adam Hose pats the third ball back and Overton picks up and shapes to hurl it straight through the Pears batter. He wisely hangs on to the ball.

The Somerset man then strays down leg and Hose cashes in, flicks it off his pad down to the boundary in front of the Colin Atkinson Pavilion.

Six from the over and the visitors have now more than halved the 516-run first-innings deficit.

Kasey Aldridge will share the new ball.

Two balls later there's another appeal and the finger goes up.

Surrey all out and Ben Foakes is left stranded 92 not out.

    The deficit is 217 runs.

  15. 'Strong lessons to be learnt for Yorkshire'published at 17:38 British Summer Time 6 April

Hampshire beat Yorkshire by five wickets

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

There's no question about which side that deserved to win, so no problem with that. I'm sure I'll be speaking with Anthony McGrath who will feel like his side have had their chances to really push for something here and they haven't been good enough, both in the field and with the bat on day one.

But I think he'll be very encouraged by some good stuff during this match and they've not been completely overrun by any stretch of the imagination by a team who finished second in Division One last year.

I think there are some wins ahead for Yorkshire but when you're playing at this level, it doesn't matter what the names on the team sheets say, you have to play well and you can't afford to let things slip as they did on the opening day with the bat.

There are definite strong lessons to be learnt and they'll be able to show us whether or not they are putting those into practice when they welcome Worcestershire to Headingley on Friday.

  16. Latest from Lord'spublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 6 April

Middlesex move past their first-innings score but the new ball will shortly be available to Lancashire.

They need a wicket or two with the home side now 162 ahead and the partnership between Max Holden and Ben Geddes worth 148.

Holden is 126 not out and Geddes has 68.

    Haines LBW b Yates 34 (Warks 454 v Sussex 528 & 92-2)

    Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 46-2

Colin Ackermann drives down the ground and then twice edges down to third man as Dillon Pennington begins his seventh over by leaking three successive boundaries.

    Perhaps time for a change.

  19. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 6 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 363-9

Seems a bit harsh but Matt Critchley's reward for breaking that Surrey ninth wicket stand is to be replaced by Simon Harmer.

The South African is on the verge of a 58th first-class 5-fer.

Ben Foeaks hits him for four and enters the nineties.

  20. new ball

New ballpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 6 April

Jack Leach whirls away again for his 30th over.

Adam Hose sweeps the second ball to the rope for his 11th boundary and then picks up another couple of runs to go to 76.

A single completes the scoring in the 80th over.

New ball please! Craig Overton will have first use of it, with eight overs left in the day.
