    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 307-8

We are ready to get weaving at Chelmsford for the third evening session.

It's interestingly poised now, more so if Essex can give themselves the choice of enforcing the follow-on or not.

  2. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 579published at 16:19 British Summer Time 6 April

    James c b Ackermann 125

Lyndon James' luck finally runs out as another big shot proves his downfall.

He comes down the pitch to Colin Ackermann and hits it straight up in the air. Graham Clark sets himself underneath it and takes the chance.

A superb innings off 159 balls and gives Notts a 201-run lead on first innings.

And that brings a late tea!

  3. Tea at Sophia Gardenspublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 6 April

    Glamorgan 229 & 162-7 v Leicestershire 427

Glamorgan are hanging in there - just - and reach tea needing another 36 to avoid an innings defeat.

Kiran Carlson has held the innings together with an unbeaten 79 off 166 balls after it looked like the home side were on the slippery slope at 46-5.

Andy Gorvin is with him on 14 not out, having taken four wickets in Leicestershire's second innings, but there are only Shoaib Bashir and Asitha Fernando to come.

  4. Nottinghamshire lead reaches 200published at 155.4 overs

    Notts 578-9 v Durham 378

Lyndon James is swinging at everything and pulls Paul Coughlin towards the boundary, but the weary fielders keep it down to a single.

A Dillon Pennington single takes him to 13.

The pair trade singles off Colin Ackermann and there's a ripple of applause as the lead reaches 200. The last-wicket stand is now worth 45 runs.

  5. Tea at Utilita Bowlpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hampshire 249 & 86-4 v Yorkshire 121 & 275

This one could still go either way despite Yorkshire dropping two catches after setting a target of only 148 for Hampshire.

Dom Bess has taken 2-15 from seven tight overs, with Jonny Bairstow able to rotate his seamers from the other end.

Hampshire should be able to see this one across the line with 62 more needed but the task is perhaps proving tougher than they expected at the start of their second innings.

  6. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 454 v Sussex 528 & 6-0

Tom Alsop was off the field in that last session for Sussex.

We have been told he is unwell so cannot bat for the next two hours or until number seven so we will probably not see him for the rest of the day.

  7. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 196-4

Josh Davey gets the evening session underway as Somerset look to winkle out the remaining six wickets in kind batting conditions.

A single takes Adam Hose to 52.

Davey gets his line a little wrong wide of the off-stump and Brett D'Oliveira helps it down to third man for his fifth boundary.

He will bowl in tandem with Lewis Gregory after tea.

  8. Tea at Lord'spublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middx 260 & 171-4 v Lancashire 359

Just a single for Max Holden from the final over before tea at Lord's takes him to 83 not out.

It looked like Middlesex were in some trouble on 7-3, but Holden steadied the ship in tandem with Ryan Higgins, adding 106 for the fourth wicket.

Higgins was eventually bowled by George Balderson for 43, but Holden has found another reliable ally in Ben Geddes, who is on 27 at the interval.

  9. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 454 v Sussex 528 & 1-0

Off we go again at Edgbaston and the first ball from Ethan Bamber jags back at Tom Haines and there's a yelp of excitement but it does too much and looks too high.

    A leg-bye is scampered.

  10. 'Either side could put pressure on'published at 16:07 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 454 v Sussex 528 0-0

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Sussex will start a with a nice long session to finish the day where they could make some decent progress and get themselves into a position when they can think about when to have a go at Warwickshire tomorrow.

Or alternatively Warwickshire could get Sussex into a bit of trouble and maybe put them under a bit of pressure.

  11. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 566-9 v Durham 378

Paul Coughlin returns and Lyndon James has an almighty swipe at his first ball.

It's not out of the middle and gives Matthew Potts chance to end Durham's misery at deep mid-wicket.

But he never really sets himself and the chance goes down.

    James dropped on 121.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middleton lbw Bess 38 (Hants 86-4 - target 148)

Another one gone at the Utilita Bowl.

Fletcha Middleton goes right back into his stumps, plays across the line and becomes Dom Bess's second victim of the innings.

We could be in for a tense finish here.

  13. 'A draw still likely'published at 16:03 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 454 v Sussex 528 & 0-0

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Maybe this game isn’t drifting towards the draw that looked highly likely half way through the afternoon.

The departure of Ed Barnard for 82 saw Warwickshire lose 4-27 leaving Sussex 35 overs to bat tonight and build on their lead of 74.

Jack Carson was the pick of the Sussex attack bowling with good control and variation taking four wickets in his first appearance in Division One.

This is still a very good batting wicket, and the draw is still the likely outcome, but both sides will still feel there could be an opportunity to win this game

  14. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 566-9 v Durham 378

Will Rhodes cuts a dejected figure as he serves up a half-volley wide of off-stump and Lyndon James gives it what it deserves.

His second four of the over and 16th boundary in all as James races to 121.

Even Dillon Pennington gets in on the act, tickling the ball down to the fine leg boundary.

  15. DERBYSHIRE BEAT GLOUCS BY 9 WICKETSpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 6 April
    Breaking

    Derbyshire 391 & 93-1 v Gloucestershire 222 & 259

You didn't see the words 'Derbyshire beat......' on many of our text coverage pages last summer - just once in fact.

But they have equalled that number of victories at the first attempt as Harry Came finds the boundary off Graeme van Buuren.

Four off Ollie Price in the previous over took partner Caleb Jewell to 50 off 48 balls, completing a successful Derbyshire debut for the Tasmanian, who made 61 in the first innings.

He finishes on 51 not out, with Came on 27, the pair sharing an unbroken stand of 74.

  16. Postpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hants 84-3 - target 148

We'll give Yorkshire the benefit there - it may not have carried.

Tom Prest edges a good one from George Hill and the ball squirts between Jonny Bairstow and first-slip Adam Lyth and away for four.

Two catches have been dropped, though, as well as a missed stumping.

  17. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 6 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 307-8

Ben Foakes batting for Surrey against EssexImage source, Rex Features

Surrey fought well in that session - adding 121 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Essex are still in the driving seat but have been unable to get rid of Ben Foakes who has had great support from Jordan Clark and Matthew Fisher.

Surrey are still short of the follow-on but how much would the Essex attack have left in their legs today if they can get these final two wickets?

  18. James' third century against Durhampublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 552-9 v Durham 378

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I said earlier Lyndon James averaged 92 against Durham going into this innings. It was actually 96 and it's heading upwards because he's got another century against them today.

He has five centuries in first-class cricket and three are against Durham. He brought it up with his 14th four and followed that with a six into the Bridgford Road stand.

Notts are in a real position of strength here but because they are nine down, tea is delayed.

However with a 49-yard boundary on the Bridgford Road side of the ground a lead of 172, on a very good batting track, may not be that big.

  19. 550 up for Nottinghamshirepublished at 148.4 overs

    Notts 550-9 v Durham 378

Lyndon James goes into one-day mode as he picks up a Will Rhodes delivery off his pads and flicks it three rows back into the stands for six.

    The lead grows to 172.

    Fisher b Harmer 30 (Essex 582-6d v Surrey 306-8)

A fourth victim for Simon Harmer.

Matthew Fisher goes back on his stumps and is bowled.

James Taylor is in with one over before tea.
