  1. Postpublished at 31.3 overs

    Durham 387 v Warwicks 31.3 overs

To quote Hugh Grant in Notting Hill: "Whoops a daisy".

Daniel Hogg puts so much effort into that one to Sam Hain that he topples to the floor and rolls over mid-pitch before regaining his equilibrium - and normal state of perpendicularity.

  2. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 12 April

    Surrey 253 v Hants 166-6

Four runs to Tom Prest, driving Jordan Clark off the back foot through the covers.

He keeps the strike with a single off the last ball of the over to reach 40.

  3. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 12 April

    Lancs 11-0 v Northants 496

Keaton Jennings is off the mark, running a ball from Liam Guthrie safely past the slips for four.

One more run to Jennings steered wide of the slip cordon.

Michael Jones is off the mark, glancing a leg side ball behind square for four runs.

    Libby c Lyth b Coad 53 (Yorks 456 v Worcs 101-3)

Having been 90-0, Worcestershire have now lost three wickets in the space of six overs.

The ever reliable Ben Coad finds a little bit of movement away from the bat and Jake Libby edges to second slip.

If he looks at the replay, the Pears opener will feel he shouldn't have been playing at that one.

Paul Walter passes 50 and has looked unruffled throughout.

It's back-to-back half-centuries for the big man - last week he made 95 in the draw with Surrey.

Can he go further and get a ton today?

Another man with milestones in sight is batting partner Jordan Cox. He is on 41 today and last week he hit 117 against Surrey.

So two men in good form at the start of the campaign.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 12 April

Big scalp for Kent as Grant Stewart finds the edge of Leus du Plooy's bat and Jack Leaning takes a neat low catch at first slip to oust him for 26.

Caleb Jewell remains unbeaten on 69 but Derbyshire are five-down at Grace Road against Leicestershire. 118-5 in reply to 484.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.1 overs

    Ali b Thompson 3 (Yorks 456 v Worcs 101-2)

Kashif Ali is caught in two minds at the start of a new Jordan Thompson - and his decision not to offer a shot comes too late to prevent the ball deflecting off his bat and into his stumps.

A little unlucky, perhaps, but Yorkshire will be delighted to send another batsman back to the changing room.

Ethan Brookes comes in at number four.

  8. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 12 April

    Lancs 1-0 v Northants 496

The overheads are a little more hazy over Old Trafford this afternoon and there's some swing from Liam Guthrie straight away as Michael Jones runs a leg bye.

Keaton Jennings leaves the ball outside off stump.

  9. Postpublished at 28 overs

    Durham 387 v Warwicks 106-3

A long half-volley by Daniel Hogg is met with the full face of Dan Mousley's bat. Textbook stroke through mid-off brings the Warwickshire left-hander four runs.

    Notts 347 v Essex 107-2

It never looked likely to be honest.

  12. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 12 April

    Surrey 253 v Hants 150-6

Another four for Brett Hampton, but it's a streaky edged drive wide of the two slips.

That's the Hampshire 150 in the 57th over.

    Frustration for Jordan Clark.

  13. Northants all out for 496published at 14:31 British Summer Time 12 April

    Lancs v Northants 496

Calvin Harrison perishes by the sword, aiming a huge hit into the Trafford Centre and chopping the ball on to his stumps.

Tom Hartley finishes with 3-91 off 33.1 overs.

A fine innings even so and the heavy roller is making its way to the middle ahead of Lancashire's innings.

Huge total for Northants on a pristine surface.

    Scoreboard pressure for Lancashire nonetheless.

  14. 50 runs

50 up for Sussexpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 12 April

    Sussex 294 & 57-0 v Somerset 201

Sussex lead by 150 now as Daniel Hughes and Tom Haines guide them over 50 in their second innings.

Caleb Jewell's 10th four has taken him to 62* and Derbyshire are into three figures at Grace Road against Leicestershire. 104-4 following 484, though.

Middlesex lead Kent by 71 in their second innings at Canterbury with Stephen Eskinazi on 29 and Leus du Plooy on 25 and eight wickets in hand.

Ben Raine celebratesImage source, Getty Images

A big wicket for Durham as Rob Yates is taken at second slip.

He'll be disappointed with that, having scored a century and a half-century in Warwickshire's first match of the season - another 50 was there for the taking.

    Paul WalterImage source, Rex Features

It's the 50 partnership and the 100 up for Essex with Paul Walter and Jordan Cox looking comfortable in the afternoon session.

And just as write that there's a big shout from Notts for a nick behind from Cox but the umpire remains unmoved!

Walter is on 40 now and Cox 31.

  18. 50 runs

for Jake Libbypublished at 32.1 overs

    Yorks 456 v Worcs 97-1

It's his first half-century of the 2025 Championship.

    Surrey 253 v Hants 144-6

Kemar Roach is leg side and Tom Prest turns the ball through the legs of leg slip for a single to move on to 25. That was a nutmeg, really.

Four runs to Brett Hampton driving through the off side.

  20. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 12 April

    Lancs v Northants 496-9

Calvin Harrison goes back and across to hack Luke Wells through the off side but he declines the single.

    The field is set deep.

Runs here though! A fuller ball, driven over the bowler's head and straight down the ground for four.

What's he doing batting at nine?!

Single to the leg side and Raphy Weatherall sees out the over.
