  1. wicket

WICKET Jewell b Higgins 56published at 37.5 overs

    Middx v Derbys 124-2

Middlesex need a wicket and it's the ever-reliable Ryan Higgins who supplies it.

Another magnificent inswinging delivery from the Middlesex all-rounder and Caleb Jewell loses his off stump.

He put on 105 with Harry Came, whose new partner is Wayne Madsen, playing his 500th game for Derbyshire.

  2. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 103-3

Hampshire pass 100 in the 36th over with a full-blooded pull by Toby Albert over mid wicket and off the bowling of left-armer Sean Hunt.

Hampshire just starting to pick up a bit of momentum after being stalled a little in the last hour or so before lunch.

  3. wicket

WICKET Charlesworth b Wright 74published at 38.5 overs

    Leics v Glos 145-3

There's the first bowling bonus point for Leicestershire - and you have to say they deserved that wicket for their efforts in recent overs.

Chris Wright produces a beauty which beats Ben Charlesworth's defensive push and clips the top of off stump - yes, it's the Glenn McGrath delivery.

Charlesworth batted well, though - there were 14 fours in his innings and he shared 90 with Miles Hammond, who has now been joined in the middle by James Bracey.

  4. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 156-1

38 overs of toil for Essex thus far, but they might get a boost as the ball is being changed after an inspection from the umpires.

Being walloped to the boundary 29 times will do that to a ball, I suppose.

  5. Postpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 8 September

    Northants v Glamorgan 156-4

Glamorgan have the better of the afternoon session so far, advancing beyond the 150-mark with no further wickets since lunch.

They reach the landmark in the 37th over with an Asa Tribe clip through mid wicket off the bowling of Liam Guthrie.

Tribe advances to 85 with a back foot cover drive for four more off Guthrie and that takes his partnership with Ben Kellaway (21 not out) up to 50 in just 59 balls.

  6. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 143-4 v Warwickshire

He's not had a pleasant stint so far, but Dan Lawrence has opened his shoulders and produced a glorious drive off Ethan Bamber through the covers for four to move into double figures.

    That'll make him feel better...

  7. 50 runs

for James Rewpublished at 37,1 overs

    Somerset 142-2 v Yorks

James Rew is having a magnificent season - he's closing on 1,000 runs - and he reaches another 50 off 91 balls with a short-arm pull for four off Jordan Thompson.

He and Tom Kohler-Cadmore have now added 117 for the second wicket.

  8. Postpublished at 38 overs

    Leics v Glos 145-2

An even stronger appeal from Leicestershire ends the latest over at Grace Road.

Logan van Beek thinks there is an under edge as Miles Hammond tries to pull the ball and the keeper and first slip agree.

    The umpire doesn't.

  9. 50 runs

for Ben McKinneypublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 151-1

Ben McKinney and Alex LeesImage source, Rex Features

There we go... the 20-year-old lefty brings up his third first-class half-century with his 11th four, punching Jamie Porter to mid-off from his 78th delivery in the middle.

He's scored three centuries in red-ball cricket too, be warned, Essex fans.

Alex Lees is 25 away from a 33rd first class ton himself.

  10. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 108-7 v Notts

Gareth Roderick moves into the 30s with a thick edge just wide of the two slips for four.

Frustration for Mohammad Abbas. That was a loose defensive prod from the crease.

Six runs come off the over in total.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 8 September

    Dawkins c Jones b Stanley 60 - Kent 150-2

The 136-run stand between Ben Dawkins and Ben Compton is broken as the 18-year-old clips straight to Michael Jones at mid-wicket off, giving Mitchell Stanley his second scalp.

Tawanda Muyeye joins Compton, who now has 62*.

  12. Postpublished at 36.5 overs

    Leics v Glos 145-2

A sheepish moment for Leicestershire keeper Ben Cox.

He goes up for a catch as Chris Wright beats Ben Charlesworth with a good one but absolutely no-one else joins him.

    There was no nick.

  13. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 99-3

Another close call for Hampshire as Ben Brown nudges a bumper to a very fine leg for a single that only just landed safely away from keeper and captain John Simpson.

Run scoring looks far harder now than it was in the first half hour or so this morning.

  14. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 147-1

Slow and steady since the interval at Chelmsford.

Alex Lees survives a big shout for lbw from Shane Snater as he plays across the line but it's heading down leg so he lives to fight another day on 75*.

Ben McKinney had 46* from 59 balls at lunch, he now has 47* from 77.

  15. Postpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 102-7 v Notts

A bit too full and leg side from Lyndon James, who is clipped square by Gareth Roderick for four.

That takes the Pears past the 100-mark in the 32nd over.

How many more can they get?

  16. 'Malik judged that catch to perfection'published at 13:36 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 134-4 v Warwickshire

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

What a catch from Zen Malik. Out there at deep mid-wicket low down. Rory Burns struck that pretty well and he can't quite believe it.

He hit that very firmly but low and Malik has judged that catch to perfection.

  17. Postpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 98-3

Four slips and a short leg in for Jaydev Unadkat, who thinks he has Toby Albert caught behind via a miscued pull shot.

    The umpire says no.

Awkward. Very cramped for space. Maiden over.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 8 September

    Burns c Malik b Bamber 52 - Surrey 134-4 v Warwickshire

    The pressure has told....

Ethan Bamber bangs one in short and down the leg side, tempting Rory Burns into a pull towards square leg. Zen Malik is out there at deep square and dives forward to take an excellent catch.

Burns has cracked under the pressure.

Ryan Patel joins Dan Lawrence with Bears getting a head of steam up.

  19. 100 partnership for Somersetpublished at 33.2 overs

    Somerset 133-2 v Yorks

    James RewImage source, Getty Images

James Rew strokes Jack White through the covers. Matthew Revis does his best to prevent the boundary but the ball 'follows' him as momentum carries him over the rope. Rew is now 45 not out/

  20. Postpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 134-3 v Warwickshire

Ed Barnard gets one to nip back off the seam at Dan Lawrence and he's convinced he's feathered an edge through to Alex Davies, but the umpire is unmoved, as is Lawrence himself.

Barnard and Ethan Bamber are applying a lot of pressure in this session so far, but without a breakthrough... yet.
